Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece, to which I assume the bar is dedicated to doesn't show up much except for the forbidding, moon-shaped black structure above the bar, and the walls that are painted with orange-and-black sunsets that look like they are from another planet. Or perhaps its a more desert centric theme but something about the bar felt unfinished or incomplete in terms of aesthetics . The ambience is lively yet the place felt like it was lacking in terms of being inviting - not enough seats , the bar seating was uncomfortable and the music was way too loud to have a decent conversation .On the other hand the bartender was friendly and made a mean cocktail .She was quick ,fun and good at her craft . The menu is very mezcal/Agave focused and had some different cocktails in the mix. The food selection looked cool and if I wasn't already full I would have loved to try the Burrata Basil Bacon Jam toast or the Baked Brie . We did try the fries with truffle oil and they were just alright , lacked salt and crunch both .The bar was too full and with the four of us seated at the bar seats it was hard to have a conversation. The wait list to get a seat seemed long and we eventually decided to leave after a drink each. The pricing was reasonable and parking is on the street

The coolest bar in Portland that we've encountered. The vibes, drinks, and food are immaculate. We met Josh immediately and he took care of us. I couldn't give him a better review.

When I saw the word Dune, I thought sci-fi and had to check it out! Sadly, it was only painted like Dune and no sci-fi references or themes. No one greeted us at the door, so we just grabbed a table. After ten plus minutes of staring around, hoping to make eye contact, no one approached us. Basically, this is a great cafe for introverts. The menu is a QR code on the table, so just scan, order, someone will drop off your drink without saying a word, and then pay via the QR link. As an introvert, I love that but if you're with a group of friends who like asking for recommendations, they'll likely be as disappointed as mine were.

Delicious drinks and food. The bacon wrapped dates were my favorite. Ordering is all via a QR code, order on the website, submit order and check out.

Well well well if it isn't the cutest bar in the world. Patio: check. Veggie options: check. Interesting and unique cocktails: check. Kate Bush/Björk Playlist: check. Cool staff: check I had to be dragged out of this place. Don't skip. Pickle plate is a rowdy and delicious ride.

Went in on a Tuesday night and still felt like a Friday. Very great atmosphere and very impressed with their ability to make a pretty and tasty beverage. Playing Godzilla vs. Mothra on the wall made me laugh and smile. If ya wanna make a stop on your town tour and enjoy the vibes I suggest it.

Amazing atmosphere and the drinks were phenomenal! We got post nut clarity which had a strong saffron and pistachio flavor. I loved it so much and it had great aftertaste. They also made us a tasty mocktail that also had saffron and rose water notes. It was the most delicious drink ever!

Came here on a weekday to sit at the bar with a friend. At like 9 PM, the bartender and staff turned on cleaning mode, and practically sprayed our drinks with cleaning solution. It wasn't the most relaxing way to spend an evening watching them clean floor mats and bar tops while trying to eat and catch up with a friend. Pluses are nice tap list and vegan options, I'd like to come back but when it's busier on the weekend and more of a vibe.

We literally stumbled upon Dune, and glad we did! We found Dune by chance on our way to another spot. Terrific service, a really great Mazcal selection supported by a team that really knows thwir way around their Mezcal, and very creative cocktails. Ambiance is .. well... Dune-like, but not in a fanatic way. It is subtle and fun and relaxing. Drop in, if for no other reason but to expand your list of "favorite spots to drink Mezcal in Portland" list.

I was so impressed with everything! The drinks were amazing, some of the best I've tried in a long time. I would say the peeps behind the bar are definitely mixologist. While they don't have a huge food selection, the taste was delicious. Good amount to share with friends. The deviled eggs with peppers one of my faves, and my man loved the chicken shawarma. We also got fries and baked Brie with apple slices, walnuts and bread. Drinks are spendy but it's worth it! I will be back!

I was really looking forward to trying Bar Dune with fellow amazing YES Rashi T and her husband. We have been on two double dates now and we all love good food and good drinks. The small bites listed on the website included vegan tea sandwiches which sounded lovely to try. I was also stoked about several cocktails. We arrived around 8 and were told that there was a wait for a table but Rashi had gotten us 4 seats at the bar. It was very tight and not super comfortable. I was disappointed that they didn't have the same menu as the website showed, but they did have Garlic Truffle Oil French Fries, and garlic happens to be one of my love languages. So we did order that to try. I liked them but they were super light on flavor. As far as the drinks, our bartender knew what she was doing. The cocktails are GOOD. I had started drinking mezcal, after reading a series of as articles in Imbibe Magazine, last month on our last date with Rashi. I had tried a Mezcal Old Fashioned at one of our favorite bars and I REALLY disliked it. Really really disliked it. As in I almost sent it back and gave up on mezcal. BUT this Mezcal Old Fashioned was EVERYTHING I wanted and more. Adding the orange bitters gave the acidity the drink needed. So my drink was the Oaxacan-Old Fashioned. Adding the agave also gave it a pinch of sweetness that it lacked in the previous drink I had. For me, Bar Dune NAILED it. My husband had the No Fingerprints and it too was delicious. 1-its a nice upscale bar, 2-the cocktails are excellent, 3-the service was good, but what REALLY brought down the vibe was that it was SO loud in there that you could barely have a conversation with the person next to you. We were shouting and it sucked to be honest. If it had been half the volume, it would have lost nothing in the vibe but added to the niceness of the evening we were having. The drinks are Portland Pricey, but worth it for how good they are. We would have stayed for more than one drink if the atmosphere were inviting. It's not a club y'all, it's a bar. And with $12-$14 cocktails, it's not a "club vibe" crowd you want to attract. Just saying y'all. And update your website. It sucks when you're super excited about trying something and then it's not on the menu when you get there.

I wish I could give this place 5 million stars!! We wanted to stay all night but sadly had to leave early for our reservation. My drink was really strong (which is good if you’re trying to get drunk!) and I requested they tone it down a bit with some more flavoring. The bartender was SO nice about it and made it tastier than ever. Cheap drinks and great atmosphere. Also, you NEED to order the fries! We were talking about them the entire night. Will definitely be coming back!
