I have been a fan of Cabezon since one rainy night nearly 20 years ago. The menu is simple and remarkably consistent yet with enough offerings to please most anyone. Seafood is featured but is supported by ever changing soups, fresh pates, mac & cheese, and fries. Lamb loin, a fabulous cioppino, and a grilled pork chop are almost always available. Each is done exceptionally well with thought and skill. Maintaining such a high level of quality over so many years is almost impossible. Cabezon does so with style. Fair prices and gracious service make any meal taken there a pleasure. Special note: The wine list is rife with carefully chosen bottles from Oregon, California and France. Wines from Spain and Italy also make appearances. And these wines are extremely well priced. One example: A fabulous Mark Herbert Champagne that retails for near $70 was offered for $96. Expensive, yes. But still a very good deal.
Food took some time to get to the table but that is because it is freshly made to order and AMAZING, you will not be disappointed with anything on the menu.
Casual elegance, quiet ambience and succulent seafood served in perfect proportion. A favorite spot for sure.
The pork chop costs a lot (for a pork chop). It came out half as thick as it should have been, and was overdone. May seem picky, but a $35 chop petter be on point, IMO. The other things we had were good.
Delicious food. The lingcod was incredible and the starter shrimp with basil mouthwatering.
We love this restaurant. The combination of great food and excellent and friendly service is unbeatable.
Great choice of seating, excellent food, and prompt, courteous service surpassed several fine dining restaurants I've visited lately. Perfect neighborhood restaurant!
I heard how amazing the food and overall experience was at Cabezon from a foodie friend so I made reservations for 6 a couple weeks before we got to Portland for our visit to the University of Portland. The time came and we arrived to a really cool place, neat decor, comfortable and homey feeling. We were greeted by a very nice woman who gave us a place to sit and delivered our drink order very quickly while we waited for our table. Table was ready quick, our waiter was awesome and we quickly had apps on our table. I am a commercial fisherman from San Diego, so my seafood standards are very high. The mussels were great, shrimp bisque were excellent, the shrimp app was ridiculously well paired. The cheddar mac and cheese was rich and tender. 5 of us ordered the chopino and 1 ordered the lamb sirloin. They were both AMAZING. The chopino just kept giving, the juice was so good we got more bread to soak it up. We all agreed we will go to this place every single time we visit our kids up in Portland. The entire experience was 5 stars from start to finish. I will add the prices are very reasonable for the quality they are serving. The dessert menu sounded great but we all ate too much so that will be next trip.
Our first time here and will be back! Visited for a family birthday dinner and Norman was a wonderful server. They made the dinner so special and the food was unique and delicious from start to finish (save room for dessert!). Prices are very reasonable for the high quality of dishes.
We sat inside and could hear each other without any issues. The food was divine and the server gave us great suggestions. I keep thinking about the sturgeon on mashed potatoes and the delicious salad, pork chop, crème brûlée!!! Excited to go back!

Fantastic time at Cabezon! They made special mocktails for us and asked us our preferences of flavors- we felt really taken care of! Food was delicious too, my favorite was the pork chop and the cheese board, but the basil shrimp and butter lettuce salad were also so good! Don't forget dessert, we loved the honey lavender crème brûlée! Ambiance was nice, I loved the jelly fish light fixtures!
We appreciate the reply, thanks for explaining!

They close at 9pm on Sunday. At 8pm my lady and I were finally finished with our errands for the day, and decided to treat ourselves. We had heard of this restaurant and were excited. We walked in the doors at 8:30pm after parking a block away (since they don't have parking) and the host approached us and let us know they've closed. We never got to try this place, have moved on to the next on the list and never will.

We have gone to Cabezon many times in the past and both the meal and service have consistently been very good. The food is creative, in how it's prepared and includes spices or preparation that enhance the fish. Chef/ owner David pairs complimentary ingredients that make the meal exceptional. The fish is always fresh and very tasty. We have eaten there w friends and their experience and impressions are the same- this is an excellent restaurant.
