Don’t come here if you are ethnic looking in anyway. No greeting upon entering, everyone present actively avoided looking at us, and when I came up to the counter I was not acknowledged by any of the three white people standing behind the counter. I actually had to ask the cashiers “Can I buy this?” because they did not look up when I said hello. Two of them still ignored me, the third begrudgingly took my money. No thank you, no have a nice day, nothing. I didn’t even realize our transaction was over because she wordlessly handed me my crumpled bills without looking at me. Filthy, nasty, disgusting people.

Unacceptable behavior as a business owner to both the Aspinwall’s fruit stand & the Cafe 22 restaurant
I’d been a loyal customer to this local fruit stand place for a long years until today everything has been changed. I would NEVER go back again and I will tell my friends and families as well, I would let them know because the owner guy told me “GO AWAY & DON’T EVER COME BACK!” more than once in front of other customers. Could you believe that?! almost wonder is that because I’m an Asian woman who could be discriminated easily - this is not acceptable business practice!!
I ordered a burger to go from the cafe 22 (next door front the fruit stand and got a receipt) then I went into the fruit stand. I grabbed a box of peach, went to the cash register. This owner guy was the cash register (I found this info out later). I told him I would like to have a milkshake, too. He wrote it down and told me “a small size of the milkshake?” I said, “no, I want a large size please” as I ALWAYS only ordered a large size from this place. he used a small calculator and told me total was $18.45. I gave him a $20 cash bill then he gave me $1.55 changes but with NO receipt, I did not pay attention that he was charging me a small size of the milkshake. A few minutes later. I got a milkshake, It was a small size. so I told the lady who handed it to me. that , “I ordered a large size.” she led me to the cash register, again, to the owner guy who made this order. He said, “you ordered a small size,” I answered, “no, I ordered a large size”. (Frankly in my mind, he decided a small size for me, but I wanted a large size to begin with and had never changed my mind). each of us repeat several times of what we believe should be right; then, he told me “ You are rude; go away. Don’t ever come back.” “REALLY? THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMER INSTEAD TO MAKE IT RIGHT DUE TO YOUR MISTAKE?” I looked at his face and questioned his behavior. He repeat again, asked me to “go away and Don’t ever come back”... I told him I would never come back again, but I will make sure to leave you a truthful feedback as what I have experienced today. Very soon I found out he was actually this business owner including the cafe 22 restaurant. I also learned who are his son and daughter. Fairly, they both are very nice people no more words - clearly I am not going back to this place ever again. hopefully other customers won’t have the same awful experience as what happened to me. That is not acceptable behavior!!! Lastly, I’m still questioning. Why didn’t he give me a receipt for what I paid in cash?? I am an accountant. My instant question is can you report true income and your tax correctly if you don’t issue receipts to your customers???

I have been going to Aspinwalls since I was ten; they were located in Keizer at that time. I loved when they moved and opened up the cafe and I take every family member who visits from out of town there to get fresh fruits n veggies. The milkshakes are very special with seasonal fruit theres no place in Salem that offers shakes like that. The cafe has a fun fifties country theme to it and excellent food. Recently, I was headed out of town and my AC suddenly stopped working in my car; we had our baby bird with us and she was quickly in need of help due to the hear. It was very hot this day and we were panicked it all happened so fast. I saw Aspinwalls and was so happy because we needed a bit of help. I pulled in we put baby bird into a small beach pet tent with more air than her carrier and went to the store entrance to ask for a small cup of water and to get some shade to cool her down so we could arrange some things to be able to get back on the road. Unfortunately, before I could even barely take one step into the store a man was pointing and hollering at me theres NO PETS allowed in here! Mind you my bird is four inches long weighs 62 grams. I understand you dont want pets in your store but theres a way to talk to someone and he didnt give me even a second to explain and get help. I was shaken and upset and scared; I just needed a moment and a bit if water. Ive been such a loyal customer for years it would have been nice to be treated better in that situation.
We love this little Farmstand! We got some incredible fairhaven peaches and fresh corn and they were both outstanding! The bathrooms were clean and we’ve gotten their ice cream before and loved it! The only bummer is if you have to turn left back onto the highway but overall we love this place!

I forgot to pick up some fruit after my friends and I got ice cream, and what a mistake that was! The fruit was large and plentiful, but the ice cream was too. We got absorbed in our conversations as we sat in the shade in the courtyard enjoying the fresh marionberry milkshake, the fresh strawberry sundae, and the swirl ice cream cone. I will go back!

Also, (@aspinwallsproduce ) Aspinwells thay have a variety of fresh veggies, fruit, local honey, and homemade pies among many other canned food.

It's pretty tough to beat this upscale roadside fruitstand, ice cream and mini store. The fruit is always amazing quality bursting with Juicy sweet flavors. It is as fresh as you can get and I've never had anything bad there. Fantastic creamy ice cream with your Strawberry Shortcake. Portions are also huge and prices are extremely reasonable for the quality served. It is a must try Staple in West Salem and a great pit stop on the way back from the coast or on the way to.
