One of my favorite places in town for authentic Mexican food. They have the best street tacos.

I am only giving one star because I have to! It's unfortunate that these people are thieves and decided to steal from a 10 year old! I have been here once before and as my two oldest wanted tacos figured it was close to home so would stop. My baby was asleep in the car so my 10 year old was given $20 to get 4 tacos. He came back while food was being cooked to give me the change. They gave him $2 back! I then went up there to ask how much they were and let them know they charged him $18 for 4 tacos. They began saying it's not our problem laughing in my face even the guy cooking was saying oh no he got his change. No my car was parked right there and how would you know if your cooking if the lady running the register gave him right change. They then started to talk in trash about me in Spanish ignoring me! I do not usually take time to write reviews but I am just shocked people would take advantage of a 10 year old and would think it's funny. I will never recommend this place or go here again!

I've had a hard time catching them open for business. Today I finally lucked out and discovered why. Their hours are weekdays 1pm to midnight and weekends 4pm to 5am. I'm glad that I never gave up though. The guys that work there are really nice and the tacos were delicious. It seems like most places in the area charge $1 for the typical street taco and $1.50 for specialty meats like tripa and lengua, etc. El Padrino charges $1.50 for all of their tacos, but honestly, I didn't mind because, as I said, they were really nice and the food was really good. I asked for 4 tacos, one tripa, and asked him to pick what meat to put on the other 3. I do this a lot because it is my belief that, having worked for many years in a restaurant, employees tend to know some secrets about what is best. Sometimes I get something that isn't even on the menu! I frequently get a weird look and some comment about not knowing what to choose for me at other places. This guy was happy to help, and he chose well. The meats were cooked and seasoned well and the white onion and cilantro typical to street tacos was portioned just right. Another thing that I appreciated is that the tortillas didn't break when the salsa got to them. At the same time, however, they were soft and sweet. Don't go here if you think that what Baja Fresh and Taco Bell serve is Mexican food. This place is legit! The tables and chairs stand right on the dirt and the food is the way they make it south of the border, which is exactly what I was looking for! I look forward to going back and exploring their menu further!
