Used to love this place; it was my go-to for Chinese food. But the quality has plummeted. Their chicken is now all dark meat. The sesame chicken I just got is hard, dark, and leathery. Literally inedible.

Had to give it a try: Fried Wontons soft and stale. Satay Beef over priced for portion John Chang's Wings tasted just okay, though served piping hot. Sping Rolls contained shrimp (friend allergic). Singapore Mei Fun was the worst I ever had. Should have listened to the reviews, "Where's the meat!"...Hot tea tasted like water. Sorry, never again...

I have ordered for this place multiple times to 4th South St...I have receipts to prove it. I ordered and forgot to change my address, so I called the restaurant to do so over the phone as I have done before also. We haven't had much luck ordering Chinese in South Philadelphia. I had seen this restaurant for years and placed an order. The wonton soup, and both the brown and white rice were good. Unfortunately, the rest wasn't. The fried dumplings were greasy and burned. The spare ribs lacked meat. What was there was almost burned. The General Tso chicken was meh. Still searching in 19148.

The worst 95$ I ever spent! Food was cold and the sushi tasted old the salad was a mess. The only thing was good are their pizza roll! Yeah I couldn’t believe as well! So disappointed!

A friend invited us to this spot and it's great. We got a mix of sushi, Thai and Chinese and all were fantastic. The curry and Pad Thai were very good asis the green salad.

We haven’t ordered from here for years so we thought we’d give it a shot. Coconut shrimp was disguising. Fried rice taste like brown minute rice. Only thing good was pizza roll. Don’t waste your money.
Food was okay, service was absolutely horrible. Very rude and inconsiderate. Place was almost empty.

They kinda rip off with meal when there's so much vegetables instead of meats. I got little meats for that price. Unacceptable!

Always consistently good. Solid American Chinese thats not bulletproof. Best in South Philly.

I’m very disappointed; I’ve been eating at Johnny Chang’s since I’m a YOUNG girl. I’ve never really had any issues in there aside from the lady at the front (whose been a fixture there for at least 30 years server/hostess). She has always been very cold & unwelcoming everytime I’ve ever gone in there to eat or pick up food. Tonight I walked in there with my boyfriend to eat dinner & asked for a table for two. She looked at us and said “we’re no longer serving food in the restaurant, take out only.” It was about 7:55p.m. We both looked at each other super confused since they’re opened until 9:30p.m. We both asked to use the bathroom & when we came out of the bathroom there were two people sitting there waiting to pickup their take out order & a Asian man & woman who were clearly walking in to sit down to eat- they asked for a table for two. The hostess quietly said okay, one moment (cutting him off mid sentence so I wouldn’t catch on) as if I wasn’t going to hear or see her (while she waited for us to walk out of the restaurant.) She looked at us and said “you wanted to order something to go, right?” Long story short, she told us that we couldn’t dine in and then told the other people that they could? I asked her why she told us something different & she said that she changed her mind & that she was allowed to change her mind about dining in. She said that no dining in could happen after 8:00pm, but told the Asian couple they could sit in the dining room? Not sure what type of place does this? It’s very disappointing that after being a customer of Johnny Chang’s for years, never having any issues- that she would just turn us away from dining in- but welcome others? I don’t think rude is even a word that fits the situation. I will never ever be eating there or ordering take out from this establishment ever again. I felt extremely offended, confused & almostly insecure about why I’d be targeted and so unwelcome. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life at a restaurant. Do yourself a favor & find a different Chinese restaurant to spend your money with. This lady is the only person who you’ll ever really see in there (aside from kitchen staff popping out randomly- she answers the phones, takes orders, collects money & also serves). IF she allows you to sit in the dining room to eat, I promise you won’t leave thinking that you had a pleasant dining experience. My parents have been taking me there for years & the food is very mediocre AT BEST, aside from the few things that I’ve grown accustomed to liking.Once again, VERY disappointed and confused!!!
