Stumbled across this gem with my girlfriend this past weekend—what a lovely find! Nice, chill atmosphere, food was excellent, and our server Wendy was the best! We will be returning; I hope you all give it a visit too.

This since my first visit over 30 years ago, always offers a simple yet elegant experience. You enter off the busy avenue of shops and close by eateries to quiet, calm friendly atmosphere with jazz playing softly, exquisite service, great tasty fresh made food and superb spirits of drink. In summer cool and winter a warm crackling no invasive fireplace. Service, professional and friendly with smiling pleasure. Easily priced and just perfect!! I had a great Afternoon today as I have always.

Help run an outdoor/adventure club. We hike every Wednesday and always go out afterwards for food/drinks. Went out of my way this week to find a spot in Chestnut Hill for us to gather, since we normally don't go there and since a lot of places close at 9pm. Showed up, and lone bartender was clueless about our reservation. Had first spoke to someone weeks ago on the phone (we weren't looking for any special treatment - just order off the menu and possibly to sit together if they could accommodate us). Bartender managed to get person on the phone I contacted and even had a phone conversation with and they were surprised we showed up because I didn't call them a second damn time despite me emailing them two days ago that I'd be bringing 10-15 people. Sign out front also says "new summer hours" to 10pm and they were closing when we walked in at 8:50pm. Like - okay - not exactly dropping 15k but why do so many places today not want to make money? Knew it was a problem when person insisted on a phone call after first contact. Like I'm not asking for a wedding or funeral lunch in. Just wanted space and a "reservation" if possible. It's the 21st century Karen!

Small, cozy atmosphere. True gastropub with a variety of specials and microbrews. Friendly staff. Moderate prices. A Chestnut Hill landmark.

It was a date night and my wife Lani and I were thrilled because finally we got a chance to visit Tavern on the hill in Chestnuthill Pa after recently seeing it spot lighted on taste with Tori on CBS channel 3 local television and from the moment we walked in we were greeted by our new friend Jeff who welcomed us and seated us and made sure we had an exceptional experience. We give Tavern on the hill 5 star's for it's ambience great food I mean the french onion soup alone is a stand out must try as well as the apple dumpling which I chose for desert along with the amazing service we had a wonderful time and we look forward to our next visit.

Nice and dark, cozy, fireplace, candle and attractive lighting. The food was good, but the ambiance with ceiling fans and a new air filtration system for covid were an great addition. Very friendly and kind service.

The worst tavern i've ever been to. Four beers available on the menu. Cold food. Cold restaurant. servers were lovely. Worst food i've had in philadelphia.

Pompous attitude. Far overpriced (and prices seem to increase bi-monthly), no appreciation for business (even throughout 2020/height of pandemic), missing items from order on multiple occasions with no apology or proposed resolution.
