I had the tasting menu before a show and it was definitely worth it! The grilled octopus was well balanced and cooked, and even more fresh with the lemon. The presentation was excellent and conveyed the expectation of delicious food to follow. My favorite may have been my dessert which was an elevated Swiss roll - the salted caramel sauce was incredible and the cake itself was nice and light. The cocktails were also well balanced and offered a nice variety of seasonal flavors! Overall an excellent start to an evening of theater.

I have been meaning to try volver since it opened but rarely go out for fine dining. Was walking by when it opened at 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon and was able to snag seats at the bar. The cocktails were good. The octopus was slightly overcooked but great flavor. The hihhlight was the tinned fish toast with gooseberries. Jose sure does have a way with tinned fish! Delightful.

Excellent! They didn't attempt to compensate with larger portions. Each dish was flavorful and well thought out. Presentation was beautiful. The setting is cozy and relaxing. The staff were friendly and engaging. After a long week, it was a delight to enjoy a great conversation in this atmosphere over fantastic eats!

I felt a little cramped in my corner bar seat, and the opening course of chicken dumpling soup was a little bland, but the cocktails were complex and strong! Also, I received excellent service while I was here, and the short ribs were delicious!! Tender, juicy, favorable, and perfectly cooked. The absolutely best short ribs and polenta I've ever had anywhere. I'd give this place a chance again, especially on a rainy day. Those short ribs, with a few spicy cocktails and a slice of roll cake, could easily keep me warm and happy on a wet, dreary day.

A pleasant meal but not anything to cheer about... Service was adequate but waiter had more customers than he could accommodate.... no other servers ... Ambiance was nice...quiet & comfortable

I have been here for drinks and appetizers (great place) but this was the first time actually dining. I want to say I was amazed! I knew and expected a great experience but I just cannot believe it took me this long to have dinner. The food is delicious and the service great!

My husband stated this is the “best meal” he has ever had! Grilled octopus app, hanger steak, scallop risotto, and the “ho ho” cake. Volver, you are decadent and divine!

The place was nice, the food was really good. My concern is that I got steak and ribs and it was so small. The portion on the plate would not fill a grown man up which I think did not match the price as well. Aside that the food was well seasoned and good!

I always enjoy Volver, which is a handsome space - especially if you are by the window where you can enjoy the passing scene. The food is excellent and the portions are "just right." Service is also good. The only complaint I have is that during two winter visits, I was really cold inside - perhaps because the place wasn't crowded and so the room didn't heat up as expected. I would suggest that managers keep an eye on the thermostat!

If going to a performance at the Kimmel, Volver is an easy option. Open kitchen was much louder than similarly laid out restaurants. Service was on the hyper side, with lulls. The arugula salad was quite good, the roasted winter squash entree very tasty, but the cioppino was mediocre. The chocolate dessert was outstanding. Prices were a little high considering
Excellent food: the arugula salad, grilled octopus and burrata over a roasted red pepper were all innovative in presentation and delicious! We enjoyed the Branzino and risotto topped with excellent scallops and the cocktails were beautifully crafted! The bartender is attentive to customer requests. Kudos to Chef Alexandro and to GM Jenny for excellent and caring customer focus! As a longtime customer of Volver's, this is a winning team who has mastered the art of hospitality! Thanks to all and thanks to our server, Evelyn, for a special dining experience!
Small portions for prices above $35, watery cocktails Otherwise delicious presentation and good quiet atmosphere The waiter had limited knowledge of the cocktails or after dinner drinks

The setting was lovely and quiet which allowed for relaxed conversation. While the food was generally good and well presented, the entees were incredibly small for the price, the size of a small plate. $40 for risotto with two scallops was rather surprising even in today's restaurant climate. Disappointing.

Our waiter Hector was excellent. He provided recommendations of his favorite dishes and the best selling dishes as well. The drinks were perfect, balanced. We didn't feel rushed as in to many other restaurants. We will be recommending Volver to others and will be returning there soon

It was a fine dining experience. Food was quite good and reasonably priced. Service was also good. It was not as raucous and loud as most Philadelphia restaurants, though I believe the quality of the pre-performance diners had much to do with it.
