5 stars all around! This place is delicious! Off-season, Wednesday night October, and it was packed. Despite the crowd, our server was attentive and helpful. Highly recommended daily oyster selection and the clam chowder. I enjoyed the featured halibut…. Not sure how often that makes the menu, but if you see it, try it! And save room for the snowball from hell. It’s worth it! Met the GM who graciously gave us a tour and treated us like celebrities. I wish we had more time here… I’d eat here everyday!

We had the halibut special. Fish was very fresh and accompaniments like bakchoy very good

The food was fabulous, but unfortunately the poor service completely ruined the experience. I strongly encourage others to choose another restaurant as Newport has numerous options.
We were seated upstairs, with three tables on either side of us. The staff were actively serving the tables around us, yet no one even acknowledged us for quite some time. We eventually had to ask who our server was and if we could place an order.
What followed was a frustrating two-hour wait for our food. The two tables beside us—both seated after we were—were served their meals, finished dessert, and left, while we still hadn’t received ours. The waiter continued serving the tables right next to us (in very tight quarters) without so much as a word or update.
When I finally mentioned that we’d been waiting two hours, the only response I received was, “I don’t know why it’s taking so long.” I was surprised the manager was never sent over, and in hindsight I wish I had asked for one myself.
It’s a shame, because the kitchen clearly knows what they’re doing, but the lack of basic attentiveness and accountability from the staff turned what could have been a great evening into a very disappointing one.

At least the food was good…. Just the 2 of us sat for a normal meal. Only ordered 1 appetizer then main courses. We sat for quite some time until we asked if we had a waiter which finally gave us some service. Then we waited and waited and waited for our main courses. All together we sat there for 2.5 hours. When we asked the waiter about the wait, he just apologized but offered no reasons for the delay. We will not return.

I came here for the first time about a month ago, great atmosphere & drinks during sunset! I recommended it to my sister as she is on her honeymoon right now in RI. I wanted to surprise them with a bottle of champagne when they got to dinner here, and yesterday when I tried to set that up, I called 3 times no answer. After calling twice today, they finally picked up. I let them know the bottle I wanted them to bring to the table right when they got there, I gave them my card number and assumed that everything was figured out on their end as the host wrote everything down. As I knew my sister and her husband were about halfway done with their dinner, they never texted or called thanking us for the bottle, so I knew it was never brought out. I then had to tell my sister during her dinner to let the server know to cancel the surprise because the restaurant forgot. Management did not even take one of their drinks off or maybe bring them a desert because of them forgetting. Very unfortunate and poor management.

Whether you’re there for dinner, sushi, or just oysters at the rail, it’s great. Atmosphere and service are excellent. You’ll be pleased. Very good selection of oysters as well (get East Beach for RI and Island Creek for MA). Reservations for the Porch/Skybar dinner are needed well in advance and worth it.

Atmosphere at this place can’t be beat. As a result, food and service lag behind. Always a good place to get a bar seat and a bite but be prepared for everything to not quite live up to your expectations once you sit down.

Restaurantji Recommends
The server was great, the food ok, management sucks. We have the sun in our eyes and they do not care. They depend on one time tourist and do not care about you. They do not care.

One of the best restaurants in the US. Great views. The food is delicious. Try the King Salmon, its perfectly cooked. Enjoy some excellent oysters from the region. The sushi is not bad so if you are in the mood for it, give it a try. The staff was great and knew how the chef recommends his food to be prepared. I recommend this place. So make reservations and enjoy.

I’m from out of town so take my review with that in mind.
Good food, pretty decor and you’re right on the water in the wharf so not much to complain about. A little overpriced, but that’s Newport for ya. The people that actually enter and exist in the restaurant, especially later, can consist of anywhere between young women to elderly men that literally don’t leave you alone by either staring you down or being verbally annoying. I got the impression that everyone just thinks they’re better than everyone there which also may just be the general consensus in Newport.
As for the food I thought it was overpriced but good. The oysters were wildly expensive for being inches from the ocean. The staff was amazing and very attentive, we had an issue that was quickly resolved by a staff member which we greatly appreciated. Overall definitely a staple of Newport but doesn’t live up to the hype that I came into town with the idea of.

We ate at the Sky Bar and it was great. I had the halibut and my wife had the lobster. For desert, we had Snowball from Hell, which was amazing!
It is a different section of the restaurant and a little nicer. Men wear a jacket. Worth the extra money.
