Living locally we forget about the Newport old standbys. Atmosphere, service and food were great. I had the chowder, my husband the cod casserole. Chowder is a classic and the cod was very good.

Our server, Richard, was very attentive and accommodating. My only disappointment was that the brunch menu ended at 1:00 and I was craving the eggs Benedict.

Been there multiple times now. Love the area- right on the water,at the wharf .The service is great. We arrived early for our reservations and they had no issues seating us. People are so nice. Food is always great. The clam chowder is excellent. I definitely recommend it.

You should be able to serve half glasses of wine if someone has already purchased a full glass

My wife requested a different table, we were denied for no reason, The food was average and overpriced at best. I would not recommend.

Food was ok, had better elsewhere. Service could have been more attentive and welcoming. We felt uncomfortable. We won't be coming back.

Extremely rude outdoor hostess (10/7/25, noon). After we asked very politely, she absolutely refused to seat us in one of several shaded table which was preferred due to a medical condition. Then literally seconds later, she sat several parties in those tables. It was as if she wanted to rub her rudeness in our face. Only reason we stayed is we were in a schedule.
Food is good, but service and hospitality is very sub par.

Bad experience.. Sun in eyes but would not lower the shades... Table was disgustingly greasy. No time by server to help us. Lemon were dry ... virtually no juice... when we complained we were given lemon slices not lemon halves. ... Bad bad bad experience....

Great food, good service, reasonable prices, overall much better experience than it has to be as a tourist destination. Smaller, more intimate space than I expected. We sat at a window facing the water and working buildings, which added to the Newport ambiance. We arrived in the early evening in the off season so parking was no problem in a nearby paid lot and we walked up and were seated immediately. Service was friendly and efficient. We had the crab salad and the pretzel to start. The crab was exceptional, large lumps lightly dressed with a light sprinkle of tajin to add a delightful sharpness. They were out of their sausage and beans so my wife opted for the burger. It was done medium as ordered and was about 3 bites too big for her. I had the baked cod on a bed of orzo. The cod was cooked perfectly, flakey, moist, and lightly seasoned so the delicate taste of the fish came through. Both the small dusting of panko crumbs and the orzo were a great compliment to the fish in texture and taste. The Black Pearl left us happy we took a chance on what could've been a tourist trap, but delivered a pleasant evening of good beer and good food

Opentable Diner

Food was great for the price. Liked the low key authentic nautical decor, wasn't ticky tacky. Our waitress was very courteous and attentive. Would highly recommend!
