The service was excellent. I tried the seared scallop entree for the first time. It was absolutely delicious. I will definitely order it again.
We had a fantastic dinner and the service was great. They even signed a birthday card from each of the waitstaff for my mom!
The food was delicious. The oom we were in was so loud we could not talk to each other. Made dinner very unenjoyable.
Our group of 40 enjoyed a wonderful lunch at The Mooring before heading to the Newport Mansions to see the Christmas lights. The service, food, and ambiance were truly outstanding. Even with such a large party, the staff went above and beyond to make sure every guest was well cared for. Everyone had an amazing time. A heartfelt thank you to Joe, Michael, and their incredible team for making it such a memorable experience
I had the filet mignon, it was distinctly average. My husband had the sole, he said it was just ok, nothing special. We had made the reservation for a Thursday night, party of three a couple of weeks ago and were seated right across from the kitchen. Service was rushed. This is a tourist trap, and I was amazed by the great reviews. In all fairness, My daughter had the baked lobster and said it was very good, but the overall experience was definitely lacking.
We had the fish and chips, ceviche, oysters and clams. Our waitress and our food were incredible, we sat on the back deck in the fall which is covered and warm, but the inside of the restaurant seems to have an even better ambiance. We went during our honeymoon and the restaurant covered our first round of drinks! will definitely go next time we are in town.
a very very long time between ordering main course and receiving the main course. Food was very good, but wait was a huge negative. No, waitress did not come to discuss delay nor identified it would be that late. It was a 6:15pm reservation
We had a nice time at the Mooring for our anniversary dinner. Our server Mike was very good. We started off with Oysters which were delicious. Next we each had a cup of clam chowder.. it was just alright. It was overly salty. For my main I ordered the salmon entree. The salmon was cooked perfect but the tomato and veg that surrounded the meal was also very salty. My husband had sea scallops over risotto and he also thought the risotto was overly salty. This was surprising coming from a high end restaurant. I've had better seafood at Narragansett restaurants that are not considered fine dining. We were also not thrillled with our table. They sat us on a wall that was also a walkway access to the lower restaurant overlooking the water. My husband felt like he was going to get hit with bussers carrying dirty plate. I made our reservations a week early and it being October, and during the week and stating it was our anniversary, I was surprised of the table we were at.
Excellent service. Chopped salad underdressed and Sole was over breaded which overwhelmed the fish. Server was informed who talked to manager. Salad taken off the bill.
Great food and service! The wines by the glass were a little rough - not delicious. Overall a nice night out.

We wanted to like this place, but we had better versions of the dishes at all of the other restaurants we visited in the area. The fritters were overdone on the outside and gooey in the middle (oil too hot?), the salad was so watery that I ate the grapes and left the rest. The halibut was overcooked, the broccoli rabe was fridge temp. The crab toast was OK. Blandish cold crab salad on toast. The chowder was the best thing we ate....the highlights were the excellent cocktails and exemplary service.
What a delight to sit outdoors at The Mooring on their deck overlooking Newport Harbor. It just doesn't get better thant that on a seasonably nice day. The Mooring is always good. The staff is welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is always lively, and the service is attentive. Great Cocktails, very nice menu, and the food is always fresh and beautifully prepared and flavorful. You can't go wrong here.
The tuna and halibut were excellent as well as the crabcakes for apps. The waitstaff is great. Sat outside on a beautiful fall sunny day.
Excellent wait staff who considered our many dietary restrictions and was accommodating and pleasant. Outdoor patio in back has beautiful view of boats and water.
The venue itself is lovely. The food was terrible and overpriced. The service is ok. Would not go there again.
