I've only been here once in February of 2019...very sad to see that they are closing but very excited to go here for one last meal before they close. Great small ambience and wonderful experience. Fantastic experience! Each foods is prepared well. The atmosphere is also really nice. Sake pairing is great. Each sake bottle probably cost $20-40, but you can get to try multiple different kinds with reasonable price.

Unassuming on the outside, yet elegant and intimate on the inside is the perfect way to describe all aspects of this restaurant. This is truly a hidden gem of Providence. The food boasts high-end Japanese tastings all with locally sourced ingredients, making something truly unique to this one specific spot. Every bite is a mouthwatering blend of delicate flavors- letting the freshness of the flavors shine while still showing of the cooking mastery. On top of the food, the service is friendly and gave us a whole education in sake. Trust me, you won't miss the wine or cocktails. All in all, the changing menu and charming owner make for a wonderful experience all on its own.

Tasty appetizer and delicious dessert, somewhere in the middle of the dinner an ok if unremarkable ground lamb on a skewer. Two main courses, monkfish and crab, were both terrible: monkfish dry and dense, very difficult to chew, crab really--ephemeral? Hard to describe, really wasn't much crab to comment about. A la carte raw fluke and scup fell far short of supermarket sushi. Very expensive for what you get. $100.00 per person!

I’m upset I never found this place earlier. Outstanding creations from friendly, knowledgeable staff. The sake pairing goes perfectly with the delicious, daily, hand written tasting menu letting you sit back and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Fully accommodating if you have any allergies or aversions. The food is incredible and bound to have you wanting to book your next reservation before you even get to the second course.

Please go out of your way to make a reservation. Hands down one of the best dining experience I have ever had. Its small and intimate. The food was world class and the services was right up there. We enjoyed the coursed dinner option with accompaning sake pairing. We sat back and were blown away by the prefectly paired and equistedly prepared food. It was so amazing we did not take a single picture of our food, because we were so immersed in the awesomness of Big King.

Eating here is a very humbling experience, and you can see the pride that everyone takes in their work. I would come back everytime I am in Providence.

What a hidden gem. Big King is a tasting menu only (roughly $60-$80pp)! The menu changes constantly and the sake pairing is to die for. The atmosphere is intimate but feels extremely safe with vaccine requirements or negative test proof. Every dish was made with such love and care. Highly recommend for that date night or special occasion, or just when you want to be blown away by deliciousness!
