My bar days are pretty much behind me, but I gladly make an exception for this place. My wife and I have been going here since we moved to Richmond, mainly on Taco Tuesdays. From the moment we walked in the first time, the staff here have treated us like family. It's nice to find a local hangout full of people who simply seem to be enjoying life. Definitely go on Tuesdays to grab some dollar tacos and extremely affordable drinks during happy hour. Helen has to be one of the kindest workers I have come across in any customer-service-based business. You really feel that she cares about you when she welcomes people the instant they step through the door. On top of good food, they have a nice selection of rotating draft beers at the bar, ranging from the obligatory Guinness to solid brews from Founders and other high-quality breweries. Also, the owner has serious beer-pouring skills. The man has serious appreciation for his craft. You'll see what I mean. There is a large dining area set away from the bar if hanging out at the bar isn't your thing, but for small groups, I really would recommend soaking up the ambience of the well-decorated bar area. The dim lighting sets the mood, and there are plenty of booths tucked away perfect for kicking back and forgetting your troubles.
Rosie's has a genuine pub feel. The staff are friendly and there is a generous selection of drafts including Guinness, of course! The food is good too! With special deals during the week you can get a beer and a bite for about $10.
The bartender and staff were super friendly. Good selection of drafts and gives you a real european Pub feel.
A pretty good Irish bar, a little intimidating if you are there on your own, but a fun place to go with a group.
Live Irish music sessions... Fourth Wednesday of the month. Not a hooley or a sing-song. Serious musicians riffing to really old jigs and reels. Order the corned beef sliders with Irish cole slaw or the black and bleu burger.

Good rotating tap selection and my burger (the Dynamo) was very tasty. Although if you're going to give me the option to order "pink" or "no pink" it better be pink all the way through like a true medium instead of med-well. The fries were decent, but not anything special. The craft cocktails looked good, can't comment on the taste since I didn't have one.
I really enjoyed the food here. Everything I tasted you could tell was fresh and made of quality ingredients. The reason this is not a 5 star review is because of what I thought was an absurd charge on the whiskey I ordered. I ordered a Buffalo Trace on the rocks. Buffalo Trace on the menu was $6.75 When the bill came it said "Buffalo Trace $6.75 + $2 on the rocks". They charged me $2 for ice! If I want a good sandwich in a casual environment I'd probably come back here. If I want to have dinner and drinks I would definitely go somewhere else.
Sandwiches were interesting and delicious. Everything else was wanting. Chips we're stale and we waited 25 minutes for it food. Yes, it was a busy Friday lunch, and they reported a large take out order in front of us. IMO they should be staffed and prepared for something that acknowledged they expected. Worse, no one came by during that 25 minutes to let us know what to expect.
The service was wonderful and overall the place had a nice vibe! It's very nice inside and the best part was the food! Everything is homemade and just tastes wonderful! Their flavor combinations are so delicious! They were also very accommodating to our family that had a baby and stroller. They sat us at a nice roomy table.
Have been here 4 times and food tastes the same and great always. Their house made chips are very good. They get busy during Friday lunch time, but worth the wait. Service is good and interior is also good.

Great prices, great staff, very intimate place to see a live show. Good acts come through. It's like the 9:30 club in D.C. without the snobby people. The National could take some of the acts that play at the 9:30 and bring them here so I don't have to drive to D.C. for them.
1920's vaudvill theater renovated for concerts. The best sound of all small venues I have been in. Parking close by. Serves beer, wine, and soda. Hosts great local and national music acts. Standing room only (most of the time) with balcony handles about 1500 people. A place where everyone can see the expression on the musicians face instead of watching on a screen.
Great intimate atmosphere and environment for a live music show. They book a very good variety of acts. Drinks are way too expensive, but the staff has always been nice & helpful. Parking is not too bad since there are some garages available nearby for a reasonable price.
Extremely intimate venue. Definitely an experience one needs to have in Richmond. The management team books obscure to world famous artists so there is always an extraordinary variety of acts coming through. Side not:. If you like having multiple adult beverages at events, I hope you have deep pockets. Drink prices at the National are very high!
I come here 10-15 times per year. Amazing shows and the BEST acoustics out of any venue I've ever been too. Great staff, decent drink prices, and an overall amazing experience every time. Thank you The National for so many memories.

My mother, sister and I visited this place on 7-31-17. The food was SOOO GOOD and We had great service! We ordered the Smokehouse Mac and cheese with pork. Sounds odd but amazing when it hits your taste buds. The wings are really delicious and have a great smoky flavor. We also tried the fried okra, greens and baked beans and it was mm mm yummy! Definitely will be coming back!
The atmosphere is welcoming. Cool out have a drink and enjoy the awesome food. The only beer garden in richmond and best smoked meats around. If you haven't been YOU ARE MISSING OUT !!! servers and bartenders are attentive and on point!! Come see for yourself. Get anything on the menu...PURE SATISFACTION
What a great find! Fries are awesome, mac and cheese and okra are delicious, the pork is perfect and all their sauces are tasty. They use nice tea for their iced tea too.
Phenomenal atmosphere spirit and soul lifting music along with the best smoked wings and smoked chicken I have ever had. You must visit Jackson's Beer Garden Smokehouse in the historic Jackson Ward. PS their Smokey Sauce is something to die for. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! !
This place is great. We go here after work alot. The owner is always there making sure we have a good time. The bartenders are great too!

Nice atmosphere, cool crowd, good beer selection, friendly staff, but the food was disappointing. It was fried chicken night, so we had friend checkerboard and a burger. Both lacked flavor. The burger was a little dry and super salty. The checked was under done. The beer was tasty but to warm. Our waitress was great - we didn't complain, but she took the chicken of the bill and apologized.
Great cocktails, craft beer and food. They have the best burger in town. Bartender and staff are very friendly.
Ok restaurant... service was okay until friends were accused of harassing server ( never happened) then forced out of restaurant and they caused a big seen and threatened to call the cops.... not screaming hate crime or anything but the fact that we were all minorities really set a fire off for employees. Tipped the bartender 25$+ and he decided to treat us terribly after he got his tip... can't stand by a place that treats its guests this way....
Amazing cocktails mixed by expert staff that are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. No judgement here just delicious food and great drinks. We go for happy hour regularly over the past 3 years and are never disappointed.
Low key neighborhood bar and restaurant with great food and great cocktails
