During our recent visit, my husband and I explored this spot with some local friends. I decided on the goat, pesto, and tomato sandwich, paired with a side of dill potato salad, while my husband chose the Reuben with a cup of their tomato basil soup. Unfortunately, my sandwich missed the mark; the pesto lacked freshness, which was disappointing. However, the soup was excellent! Overall, it was a decent experience. I really appreciated the charm of the shop, and I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the 5-points area—grab a glass of wine and browse the selection!

i recently planned a girls trip to asheville and found the gourmet shop as a mid stopping point for lunch. it’s located in a cute little shopping area and takes up quite a bit of space in the building. there are 3 parts to it, the wine section, the food spices cheeses desserts and bulk items, as well as food related items for the kitchen, and the dining area which included outdoor seating. i got the bacon brie croissant that had a special jam on it and it was out of this world!! you’re allowed one side and i went with the german potato salad, which was great to my tasting as i loved the flavors. my girlfriend got a panini with tomato soup as her side. she said hers was fantastic. we also got a few desserts and they were divine as well. i highly recommend this place, it’s a little off the highway but well worth the drive! we will definitely be back to try more things!

I got a cappuccino and it was very good. I also got a salmon bagel sandwich and it also was awesome. My girlfriend however got a sandwich that she did not really like and her pasta salad wasn’t that good either. The tomato bisque was very good. The service was excellent, the food came out quick, and the shop has all sorts of good stuff I even bought my mom a couple things. Lots of great wine too if you’re into that. Definitely a place I will go to again.

I’ve visited the gourmet shop multiple times in the past, but this was my first time exploring the restaurant part. The service was generally good. My waitress was attentive and checked on us frequently, but I felt like the atmosphere could have been more cheerful. My food was pretty good overall. The roasted veggie pasta I got as my side was disgusting and I'll never get it again. There was too much oil and it got all over my plate. Maybe next time if they add that much oil put it in a bowl. I tried the cappuccino, I personally hate coffee but I thought it was amazing. The atmosphere was great and busy, the other servers were helping each other serve food and drinks to tables that weren't theirs. I will be going back!

Good deserts, unfortunately the cappuccino was hot coffee with milk and a dash of creamer, not cappuccino. But here comes the kicker: asking for a tip, I agree to give a dollar, a fair amount for the quality and time spent, and the cashier clicks 2$, self tipping the server. Great service hope that 14$ coffee and tart was worth it for you.

We've noticed a marked decline in food quality in the last year: croissants heated to the point of being rock hard, stale bread in the baskets that accompany the cheese boards, stale, rock hard pitas with the hummus, and smaller portions on the boards. It seems like they are trying to cut costs, which doesn't make sense because they are always very busy.
Our most recent bread basket came with mostly the end pieces of stale bread, including one that looked like it had a bite taken out of it!! The service and atmosphere keep us coming back, but they need to be more attentive about the food they are putting out these days.
Best chicken salad sandwich ever! Such a great spot and great prices!

I’ve visited this place so many times and have only eaten here this year. It was amazing and has the perfect menu for the atmosphere. The items they carry are so cool and unique and items I’d probably never get to see in person anywhere else. Sometimes they carry a “forest fruits” cake (I think that’s what it’s called) it’s my favorite cake in the whole entire world and I think about it at least once a week.
