Small Mexican place in Goose Creek suburban to Charleston. Great decor and a menu full of great things. The fajitas are top shelf!

I have been a long time client here but recently i had a bad experience. When it came to pay I asked for an itemized bill to make sure that we were charged correctly since we ordered quite a few things and the server refused. After paying and checking the receipt they charged us for items we did not receive. I am not one to argue but I refuse to tip when I am met with a crappy attitude and crappy service.
I also have never been to a restaurant that charges separately for the chips and the guac and gives out salsa for “free”. Not sure how you would eat salsa or guac with out chips.
I have been coming here for years but
honestly the service has really gone downhill these last couple of months.
I am a proud oaxacan woman and was really proud to have a Oaxacan owned restaurant near me that i could go to but the last straw for me was when my mother started working there and she decided to quit and when she deposited her check the check bounced. She went back to the owner to let her know and the owner gave my mom the run around saying that she paid my mother. Finally, my mother was paid but never was she reimbursed for the bounced check fee and the owner was mad that she had to pay up. This establishments should be ashamed of themselves.

Since they dont have their own online ordering on their website, I had to go through doordash. I ordered guacamole, side of rice, 1 sopes, and a milanese plate for pickup. 20 minutes later when I picked it up... I noticed they didnt put the chips in the bag for the guacamole immediately. They gave me the chips. Once I got to my car, I double checked the bag to make sure I had everything else. I realized my main entree, the milanese plate was not there. I go back in and the lady goes oh yea we dont have any, but we processed the partial refund. I explained that I dont really want to eat rice and guacamole for dinner, had you contacted me I would have canceled the order and ordered from a different restaurant. So I dont want the order you can take it. She refused, shrugged her shoulders and said contact doordash. Frustrated because I worked a double and its late, I felt defeated and walked out. I called doordash and explained. They told me they had to contact the restaurant to authorize the full refund. The rep called and the restaurant refused to authorize my refund! The rep explained he was on my side and didnt understand why they wont refund the order. I ended the call and tried one more time to see if maybe I could escalate it to a supervisor. Mind you its 940pm and im having to drive somewhere else to grab myself dinner and im exhausted. The next rep tried calling the restaurant again but they didnt answer. Only because they didnt answer were they able to finally push my refund through. The fact that the restaurant told me to call doordash for my refund and then refuse to give me my refund is insane. I will never come back. Ive ordered from them several times the past 2 years and its sad because I will be sure to spread the word on how horrible their customer service was. Im shocked and disappointed. Completely lost me as a customer.

We wanted to try a new place. Our family went in to a nearly empty restaurant around 6pm on a Friday. Maybe that should have been a red flag. I am giving this place a couple stars because the server and hostess were nice. The drinks took a while after orderering 2 waters and 2 margaritas and a coke for our son. Margaritas were god awful. I didn't complain simply because I felt bad. I think they ask the server to make drinks from an unstaffed bar and a tiny metal rack that has random liquor bottles on it. Not her fault but for the most popular drink in America and obviously the most common drink ordered in a Mexican restaurant... this was horrible. No chips and salsa to start like any other place we've been to. Ordered a burrito that was okay but nothing like the picture. Very little chicken to be honest. Wife got some nachos that were ok but nothing special. Felt bad leaving over half a plate of nachos and asked for a to go tray. We had to remind server to bring 2 waters thaf we ordered as soon as we sat down and the soda for our son. There was 1 other table closing a tab in a place that has around 40 tables. Very little seasoning on anything food wise. Kids chicken was OK and fries were fine. Overall we were not happy with anything. Do not order drinks here especially margaritas. 8 bucks for something I could only get a few sips down and had to give up. Sorry y'all. Hope for the best but please hire a bar tender, please get a new cook or 2. Maybe have an owner sit down and try a few of the menu items. Dont serve margaritas if you don't know how to make em.

My friends and I arrived at 9:00 PM, but we were not allowed to enter, even though we were told that the place doesn’t close until 11:00 PM
The food other than the nachos was atrocious. My chicken was drier than the Sonoma desert. My wife and I ordered margaritas which tasted like water and was mostly ice. My daughter’s quesadillas steak was super chewy and disgusting. On top of all of this the air conditioning barely worked. The art work was nice. My bill was 112 dollars at the end and I barely ate any of the food. Brought it home to feed the dogs. AND THE CHIPS WEREN’T FREE!!!!!! WHAT MEXICAN PLACE IN THE UNITED STATES, DOESN’T HAVE FREE CHIPS AND SALSA???
The food was more authentic than the food I actually had in Mexico!

Best mole I’ve had outside of Mexico! How many “Mexican” restaurants have you been to which don’t feature the “national dish of Mexico”??? And some feature mole ….. and typically they’re …… okay. But not at Mixteca! The mole was rich, flavorful - ¡Sabroso! The service was excellent :-)
AMAZING!!!
Great food, the carne asada, chorizo and Pastor tacos are all delicious! Home made tortillas, not the packet junk you get at other places! Menudo and the chilaquiles are great options as well! ☆☆☆☆☆
As popular a Mexican Restaurants are, I am not a fan……..But this one really is Great. Not sure what all the differences are, but the quality of Mexican food is much better than what I have experienced anywhere in the Lowcountry I can’t wait to bring my wife by here.
Sorry I didn’t get a before pic.
Thank you!!!
Terrible customer service. Lady was flirting with customer instead of taking our order.
