3/13/24 Waitress was terrible rude, told my wife she was too big to set at the table and would need to move.....spoke to manager and their reply is that help was had to get, well I'm guessing a major lawsuit will be hard to get over too!!

Random weekday breakfast and had no problem getting a table. It was also the off season (mid March).It smelled so good when you walked in. The food took its time, but not too slow. We both ordered omelettes, one sausage and cheese with the grits and toast, the other cheddar and bacon omelette with the side of pancakes. The omelettes were good, above average. But the pancakes? OKAY!!!! The pancakes were light, fluffy, not dense at all, and tasted heavenly with a drizzle of syrup and a dab of butter/spread.It was my first time having grits in my memory, and Franny our lovely waitress, suggested I go with the savory option with a slice of cheese. Added some butter, salt and pepper. It was great too.Didn’t eat the toast… too full on everything else.The coffee was fresh and hot. They brought you out a pitcher was a great thing for me. Almost finished the entire thing. So good.The one thing that stuck in my mind was the hostess was a bit rude when coming in. She was oddly friendly when leaving. Our waitress Franny was wonderful!Oh yeah the tables and stuff were not sticky like some pancake places tend to be!!

Wish there was a zero rating. My suggestion to anyone thinking about going here is to go on down the road. That is, unless, you do not mind being called TOO FAT to fit in the chair you are sitting in and told you are in the awful waitress' way! Oh, wait a minute, the manager will give you your eggs free. But, it is hard to eat while you are crying and totally embarrassed! I KNOW you can find a place with a better waitress ....one with manners and who is kind. I bet the pancakes are better at any other place you choose, too! I didn't think any one would hire someone SO RUDE AND MEAN!!
This is a small mom and pop atmosphere and restaurant. Servers are on top of everything. Food came out fast, hot and delicious. This is my new go to for homemade buttermilk pancakes. They are fabulous.

Beloved old school pancake house needs some work. The restrooms are horrible. Looks like an old Arco gas station restroom from the 1970s. Toilet seat should have been replaced 5 years ago. Gross. The food is very average. Nothing to brag about. This place is running off its tradition only. I was charged $2.70 for 2 slices of toast? Ok I guess the wait staff forgot to mention an up charge? With tip breakfast was 30 bucks. One egg breakfast and a two egg breakfast. $30.00. Overpriced for what you get. Pancakes were the only bright spot. Ham was not edible. It tasted really old and was very dry and dark. Wait staff did not inquire as to why the ham was not eaten. We used to love this place. I'm not sure why. We won't be back anytime soon if at all.

So we have been enjoying Golden Griddle several times a year for the past almost 40 years. But I’m afraid our visits will have to stop. This morning we attempted to use the Monster coupon online and was told they only accept the paper coupon. There was no notice of this policy. They said there was a sign on the door at one time but it is not there any longer. When I asked to speak to a manager, a woman named Diane identified herself as an owner and she also refused to honor the coupon. Now I’m really not that upset at losing a 10% discount which only came to about $3. As it is said, it is the principle.But 1) when I told Diane I had been coming there for forty years, she said “Well, I’ve been here 40 years and haven’t seen you.”That comment was totally unacceptable, unappreciated and showed very poor customer service.2) I got the coupon from the Golden Griddle online site itself. I’m appalled that they would not honor their own coupon. Is this not considered false advertising?3) I looked up Monster and found an app which I downloaded. Lo and behold, the Golden Griddle coupon was there as well. There were no stipulations to use only a paper coupon.4) Why, when the whole world is going digital, would they go back to using a paper coupon? We have been using the Monster book coupons for many years and, yes, we cut them out faithfully to use for dining, attractions, and activities. When the Golden Griddle coupon became available online a couple years ago, this 70 year old lady began to become more adept at using her phone for this convenience.And since I am so old, I have no problem taking my business elsewhere. Even though and all my children and I have the t-shirts!
