This review would probably be one star if not for the legend, the one-and-only J.C. Stroble who is and was and ever will be the reason this place still exists.Cawwl it!!Pile-a-plenty is more than any one person could ever eat.Sweet tea ain't bad, I guess.Happy to have been there during his reign.

A waste of money for food and service! My burger was under a grease pit from the fries and onion rings placed on top. Sweet tea taste like lemonade. I pulled across the street and through the entire order away. Never ever again or would I recommend this place to anyone. DISGUSTING

That was my wife and I. First time going there. We were hungry. We hadn't ate a hamburger in about 6 months so somebody said go to beacon. We went to beacon and we didn't know what to get so we had some help from a person that goes there once a week. She told us to get, 1 plenty and one hamburger we got that we got some Polk skins. We got some peach cobbler and we were full. Nice place. Nice atmosphere but we missed the guy. May he rest in peace. That's the one who would call out the names of the food. We will go back in about 3 weeks

I've been going here since I was a kid, I'm in my 50s now, when I visited my grandparents and now my parents and grandmother. The place looks almost the same as when I was 9 years old, with a few updates here and there. I live in Atlanta, and I compare it to the Varsity, forgive me, Beacon, but with more food options. I always get the hot dogs and onion rings. If you add the word "a plenty" to your order, you get onion rings and fries. It is a lot of food....and for me a time capsule to when life was simpler.

There is a good variety of food, but I would consider the food quality and taste as basic. The staff was helpful and friendly, but the food and atmosphere could definitely improve.

Stopped here during long road trip. Wanted to visit someplace iconic. This does not disappoint. Husband ordered fried chicken. 4 pieces (1/2 a chicken) and 2 sides for $12.00! Loved the hushpoppers, which were hush puppies with jalapeño and pimento cheese . Plenty to choose from as long as you know it’s comfort food not health food. I used the bathroom and didn’t find it dirty. The people at the counter were friendly. I’m not sure what reviewers are complaining about. Yes, it’s not in a great part of town, but you aren’t buying real estate, you are eating a meal. Wish it was closer to home; it would be a fun place to visit again.

I will start this review by saying I love "greasy spoon" diners. I want greasy and juice running down my elbows when I bite into a burger. I want French fries to absorb that day old oil they are fried in. And this is exactly what The Beacon Drive-in serves up. I ordered the 2 chicken breast meal that came with heaping helpings of fries and some of the best onion rings I have ever had. My husband ordered a burger with the same sides. The chicken was some of the best I have ever had. I don't know how they get all of that flavor into the perfectly cooked meat, but they do. I saw my husband wipe his arm so I know that his burger was juicy. This restaurant is about a 4-hour drive from our home and I would gladly make that drive again.
