I love this interior Mexican food, a step above the regular Tex Mex. It might take you hours to read the many pages of the menu if you're indecisive like me. Just go ahead and order the Tacos de Birria. I've gotten them twice now and they will hit the spot! Excellent and attentive waitstaff. Most don't speak english so it gives me the chance to break out my terrible Soanish, which too quickly devolves into charades. For a delicious Mexican dessert, head down the boulevard to el Paleton!

Wow! Do yourself a favor and go inside. It is authentic Tex Mex, with great service. I LOVED the food. The portions are perfect, not american style where they tend to be huge and you overeat; I finished off the plate, and everything was fresh and so, so tasty! I wish it was located in Las Vegas, where I live. I ordered a make your own combo plate with a cheese enchilada in green sauce and a shrimp taco. It comes with a bit of rice, beans, avocado/green salad mix. Right away they serve a bean dip and salsa with your chips. It was all phenomenal. I will be dreaming of this place!

Completely nondescript, but delicious fajitas and barbacoa with attentive, friendly service. Worth going out of the way for.

Made a second trip to this area just to go to this restaurant! Very good. Good sized portions at good prices. My husband says their cheese dip is the best he's ever had

Best Mexican food in Amarillo. Always amazing and I love being able to take non-locals to show them authentic Mexican food.

The food tasted so good and they were not stingy with the portions. Good service.

Only passing through Amarillo, almost ate at the Big Texan steakhouse after hearing that it's not worth the 45 min wait I decided to try this place. Its small and the food is dynamite. It's a hole in the wall I found. 100% recommend.

Chile rellenos was awesome! The best I've ever had from a Mexicano restaurant!!! The service was second to none! Can't wait to go back...

The service was swift and attentive. We were met with an accommodating smile and seated promptly. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. The menudo tasted pretty good and was substantial. Their enchiladas were fair for the price. The real stand out was the corn tortillas; there was just something unique about them. The staff there was great the chefs even lightly seared the enchilada tortillas giving them a very home made feel.

We were in town from Denver to go to the WRCA rodeo at the civic center. Loved this little restaurant so much that we went there 2 days in a row before we left town to come back home. Their queso is to die for. Great service too. All the wait staff were wonderful. You need to go!!

Food was excellent. But the service needs work! We had to ask another waitress for refills our never came back and checked on us and they weren't even busy at the time.Waitress never came back to see if we need to go containers (which we did) never gave us our or bill or plastic bag for our to go food. We had to ask another waitress for. Won't be back.

This restaurant will be on our itinerary for every Amarillo visit. Delicious authentic food, friendly and helpful staff and excellent service. Recommended by a local. She has never steered us wrong.

We were passing through on a road trip and decided to try one of the local places. Their tacos are phenomenal and authentic! Staff was incredibly friendly as well, definitely a good stop.

Driving through Amarillo, we had the craving for some Mexican food. The reviews about El Manantial convinced us to pull in, and we weren't disappointed! The chips and salsa, and beans were on pointe, and hubby hadn't had his menudo fix for weeks. Perfect! I ordered a chicken taco and a beef and pork taco with pineapple. Amazing flavor. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We ordered the carne asada, tacos birria with avocado added, agua de jamaica, and churros. Flavorful, quick service, and satisfying. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

The food was wonderful as full of flavor. The portions were big and the pricing was reasonable. We were passing through Amarillo and were looking for a good local restaurant. We would be glad to eat there again.

Passing through Amarillo on our way to LA and so glad we stopped. Everything was great from the food to the service. Got the Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo, Birria de Carne, and queso dip. 100% would stop again.

This is where you stop when driving thru Amarillo and you miss Texas! So worth it; the food is incredible, authentic and what you miss when out of state. Don't miss out!

There were so many good reviews, I expected my taste buds to be exploding. That was not the case. The place is really busy and the prices are good. However, the food lacked flavor. It needed salt or some kind of seasoning. The presentation was fine and the service was quick and good. However, I didn't leave here thinking this was a must try. We ordered Caldo de Res and beef enchiladas. The corn tortillas were homemade. They did have two kinds of salsa and white beans with the chips. It's an okay place but not a must go for me.

So good. Burria Jalisco was awesome and beans too. Great attentive service and nice folks.

Very good authentic Mexican food. Recommend getting a jalapeno margarita, consider making it mild if you don't like hot though

We were in the mood for a really nice Mexican dinner place and were told about El Manantial by the folks at our hotel. We out the address in our GPS and off we went. This is not a large fancy restaurant but a smaller local place. It is great! The food is wonderful and the service can't be beat. If you are in the area and gave a craving for Mexican food, do yourself a favor and eat here.

A hidden gem! On our way through Amarillo we wanted to stop for a quick lunch and Yelp brought us here to El Manantial. When we arrived the place was POPPIN. We're talking, packed with people, laughing, even singing at times! We were seated almost immediately and the servers quickly cleared our table and cleaned it for us. Their menu is extensive and has something to please everyone, and the $10 for $20 Yelp deal is an awesome added bonus! LOCATION: -conveniently located off Amarillo Blvd, there is plenty of parking in front and around the side of the restaurant -there is a good amount of seating and the servers are quick to greet you when you walk in SERVICE: -our server brought us chips and salsa as well as some warm pinto beans to dip our chips in as we looked over the menu. I was a big fan of the beans! -throughout our meal our server was attentive and friendly, bringing us refills on our drinks and asking if we needed more tortillas THE FOOD: -everything we ate was authentic, and you could really taste the care they put into the food! -I wouldn't say it was the best Mexican food I've ever had (I am from Phoenix, after all) but it was very good and definitely hit the spot! -tortillas were excellent, and I could have eaten a whole stack of the corn tortillas on their own. -the birria was very good, but could have used a *bit* more salt. Other than that, I had absolutely no complaints about the rice or beans! -the rice and beans were VERY good, and the beans had great flavor! I could have eaten those beans ALL day. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at El Manantial and will likely stop by again the next time we're driving through Amarillo!

Great find. Food is terrific. Staff is very friendly. Wish they were in the DFW area.

Really good homemade chips, salsa and beans. Good portions. Fresh and tasty. I want sure about one of the meats, so the waitress brought out a sample to see if I liked it or not. Both my husband's and my daughter said it was the best cheese dip they have every had.

Great food and great service. Definitely one of those hole in the wall places, that beats any big, fancy, Mexican restaurant. THIS is authentic MEXICAN food. The drinks are good, I order the margarita and it doesn't just taste like sweet and sour mix. Definitely reccomend for anybody looking for a good and real Mexican food. A great representation of the culture. Yum yum yum

Delicious! One of the better enchiladas I've ever tasted; and that dab of guacamole was fantastic too! More than good enough that a menu featuring breakfast brought me back the next morning. Prompt & friendly, almost doting, service. I was initially attracted by reviews (Amarillo Magazine online) saying this was real Mexican, not Tex Mex. On the way out of town, I mentioned my good experience to a young lady at the rental car company and she confirmed: REAL Mexican, a favorite place of her's and her husband's. And finally: inexpensive. Best value in food I recall. Great entrees for the price of a carry-out hamburger ... a whole meal near the cost of a cocktail in an upscale hotel.

Authentic Mexican restaurant. The food came out in a jiffy and the waitresses were attentive and accommodating. Looking forward to coming back.

You won't find mediocre food camoflaged by big piles of melted cheese here. Oh, no, this is Mexican food, and I really loved this place! The waitresses were very attentive and immediately I had chips, salsa, and a little bowl of pinto beans to snack on. The Birria Estilo Jalisco was delicious- not spicy but very tasty. The guac was fantastic, too! Looks like a big selection of cervesas and tequilas at the bar.

Extremely good and unique for traditional Mexican food. Coming in from Houston, this was a refreshing difference from the Tex mex there.

We waited a bit for a table, knowing the wait was worth it. This place can get busy on the weekends, as local families return often. Fresh delicious Mexican cuisine served by a friendly staff. Live music some evenings; mariachi band.

My husband and I stopped here on the way out of town. We decided to give them a try since they had good reviews on Yelp. I will say the place was busy and hoping. The restaurant is very small but they make it work. I'm giving them a 3 star because we were not impressed by their food. I'm hoping it was just because of what we ordered but that is all I can go by. My husband ordered the pazole but I will say I was not impressed. I make a better homemade one with much more flavor. I ordered the sopas and was surprised how hard and chewy the "masa" portion of the sopas were. Their alcoholic beverages were extremely pricey considering their location and the state of their restaurant! We had a house margarita and the flavor was good.

Really good salsa and good Mexican food. It is a cute, small restaurant with good service. Would recommend.

Definitely a local watering hole with amazing food and friendly service! It was buy even at 3 pm, and I imagine it would be busier during regular meal hours. Service is quick (took about 10 min for our three plates to come out), and they give you complimentary chips, salsa, and beans to eat while you wait for your food.

Authentic, delicious, always consistent, great staff. Don't leave without trying their flan. We do take out most often but they offer a relaxing environment as well to dine in. As with most authentic Mexican restaurants here, don't judge a book by it's cover.
