This used to be 5+ stars but unfortunately they remodeled to a more drab looking shop, and worst of all the kolaches are pre-made now, stored in wrappers then heated in a toaster oven. The result is a flat, stale tasting $5 kolache. The store doesn’t even smell like a bakery anymore, gone are the fresh cinnamon rolls straight from the oven. Also have not seen the magnificent bubbly owner, perhaps she sold and this is the result? Too bad, I miss the original Koala.

This bakery offers a range of gluten-free options. Having followed a gluten-free diet for two years, I find their cinnamon rolls and ham and cheese rolls to be quite good. The sausage and cheese roll, in particular, stands out; the gluten-free bread it's wrapped in is pleasantly sweet and lacks the grainy texture common to many gluten-free breads. The bakery's gluten-free selections are commendably tasty. The person who served me took hygiene seriously, washing her hands and putting on a clean pair of gloves before handling the food. However, the prices are a bit steep: $7.99 for each gluten-free cinnamon roll and $5.99 for each sausage and cheese or ham and cheese roll. I ended up buying two cinnamon rolls and three of each of the other rolls. Please note this shop is take away only!Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free

I found Koala Kolache at Memorial Hermann (TMC) and the food is simply amazing! V is awesome and has become one of my favorite people at the hospital! Me and my girlfriend get her kolaches at least 3 times a week. We are planning to visit the store front soon! I cannot recommend Koala Kolache enough!

The owner was so nice and excited when we told her we had never had kolaches before. All the types we tried were incredible, and we ended up trying more than we planned because she gave us a few on the house. Hidden gem, and I can't recommend it enough!

Unprofessional: Door had a sign stating closed until Jan. 5th. I went again on Jan. 6th and it had a new sign stating closed until Jan. 10th.

A true hidden gem! We all know kolache/donut spots can be found on pretty much every corner with the same menus and donut holes but this place is not your ordinary spot. Their kolache combinations have something everyone will love and are always fresh! Needless to say I’ll continue the 20 min drive on the weekends just to get this treat. 10/10 a wonderful breakfast!

Pricey, but some really good finds.I could eat my way into severe credit card debt simply from the Sausage and Gravy Kolaches.11/25/23 updateWas 5 star but now 1 star. Recipes changed....I took one bite of the sausage and gravy and spit it out. Awful.

I had a very special experience. My first time trying the kolaches, and might I say, the best I have ever had (and I've had my fair share of kolaches). The boudin kolache in particular had the perfect texture and that kick that made it extra special. The owner was incredibly nice and I could tell that she is really passionate and customer-oriented. I'll definitely be returning!

To summarize my experience here, the food and staff are FANTASTIC! My husband and I tried this location for the first time this week for his birthday breakfast, and we tried multiple items including the kolache (i.e., Bean Enchilada, Brisket, Pizza, Jalapeño Popper, and Sausage and Gravy) and cookie butter cinnamon roll. The location was unassuming, but we were so happy with our decision to try them. All of the menu items are made from scratch and are so fresh and flavorful! They warmed the items for us, and they were the perfect temperature - they even stayed warm until we ate some at home! Our personal favorites were the Bean Enchilada and Brisket kolache. Also, the service was fantastic! We met V and Wendy, and they were gracious and fun to talk to. V provided excellent recommendations that ended up being our favorites. If you are thinking about giving Koala Kolache a try, do it! You will not regret it. ?
