Great TexMex food with a surprisingly broad menu. Mi Cocina has a serious new challenger.
Amazing! Great Staff And The Enviroment Is Unlike Anything Else. Great Place To Bring Family and Friends Alike
I HIGHLY recommend Nonny's dinner. A JUICY chicken breast atop a bed of spinach accompanied by some Mexican rice and charro beans. Whether it has been dine in or pickup, the staff here are awesome. Call me crazy but I always base my reviews off the chips and salsa. The chips are amazing. (Not soggy, not hard as heck like other places) I come here at least twice a week for either food or drinks! Staff are ridiculously friendly!
Food is delicious! Service is excellent! We love going to the El Vecino! Highly recommend it
We order today Sunday during Cov-19 and we picked of our food outside of the restaurant It was great!! We ordered the El Cuenca salad and it was yummy with jalapeño dressing along with quesadillas. This meal hit the spot very tasty for a Sunday lunch
This place has fantastic service and really tasty chips and rich salsas. It's also very spacious, good for groups and individuals, with booths, tables, and bar seating. The lunch menu is easy to find, and I personally recommend the chicken enchiladas with chile con carne. The dishes came out hot and quickly with a good amount of beans and rice. The enchiladas were also packed tight with chicken.
Very friendly, great food, lovely ambience
First time to eat here, great food and great service. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, food came out in a timely manner. Will be returning and next time trying brunch!
This is my VERY favorite place! They have the best food, people and overall ambience. Their happy hour is reasonable and the drinks are AH-MAZING! The salsa is full of flavor and authentic. Why go any place else when El Vecino is where it’s at?!
Oh El Vecino, how I love thee! Let me count the ways. There a wait? No problem! You can grab a delicious margarita at the bar and by the time your sitting, you'll be feeling it. Queso. You want brunch? They have a pretty good brunch menu, with the only knock going to the chilaquiles. For something so simple it's just not great, so let's ignore that one. Now it's lunch time? While there are the typical delicious staples my favorite is the tacito salad with chipotle ranch. It's a delicious stack of beans and cheese and juicy shredded chicken topped with lettuce in a crispy delicious bowl, and it's always a good choice. And then, dinner! My favorite thing, the thing I can't tear myself from ordering each time is the mole. Mole enchiladas or chicken in mole, both are amazing (if you are a fan of mole on the sweeter side like me.) It's all the flavor with none of the bitterness it can sometimes have. The servers are always nice and attentive, and while there may be a dinner wait on popular nights once you are seated they are always efficient. Plus, everyone I have ever taken here has left loving it just as much as me, so its a crowd pleaser! What's not to like?
Clean Restrooms were clean Service was fast and good and friendly. Wait wasn't very long. Food was amazing and the portions were large. They do have flautas, but they are not on the menu. They are delicious! Everything is yummy! It was my birthday and they gave me a special treat!
It is very easy to pass by this place and not notice it, well, except if you are passing by at night and can see the patio lights and full parking lot. Was looking for a place to eat near the area for lunch and came across it on yelp. Immediately when we came in we loved the decor. Food was good. The spicy cheese appetizer was bomb, was actually spicy unlike some other restaurants. Churros are a must for dessert. The waiters are all very attentive!
Great family-owned local restaurant serving classic Italian food. The garlic rolls are to die for!
My wife and I finally tried this business for the first time, and enjoyed it so much. The atmosphere and the food were great! The service was excellent! We never had to ask for anything. I think we found our go to place for Mexican food.
This is our favorite go-to Mexican Restaurant. It’s reasonably priced and great food! Our favorite thing is their complimentary salsa. Delicious. Margaritas are strong.
I love that we have this restaurant in our neighborhood and everyone who works there is very welcoming!
Great food & drinks. Kind staff. Warm environment. Highly recommend a visit to find your new favorite meal.
Outstanding authentic Mexican food. Salsa has a nice heat to the green Salsa. Would highly recommend!! One of the top 5 Mexican restaurants in the DFW area!
On my search for a go- to Mexican restaurant I went to El Vecino because of the reviews from Yelp. The service was great and we were seated promptly. I ordered Chuy's enchilada plate because it was one with a each different sauce and I was really wanting to try the mole sauce. The plate was vibrant with color and appetizing. I'm a vegetarian so I asked that they be all cheese enchiladas, however, their choice of cheese missed the mark. It was some version of low quality cheddar cheese. I'm not sure if this is a tex mex thing but it is making me miss real Mexican food (I'm Mexican), queso fresco is the way to go. Other better options are out there like Monterey Jack or even Mozarella would have been better. Yuck, could not even finish one! Anyway, the mole sauce was good, the poblano rice was average, and the beans were good. My husband had the fish tacos and said it was OK but would not return for them. I would not recommend this place based on our experience. I let the waitress know I did not like them and she did not offer a different choice.
I have to say these folks have done a great job. The food has come a long way since they first opened and is quite good. They also have great Margaritas. My only dislike is they use Tilapia for fish tacos. Trash fish. Try using Cod or Bass. But I like everything else. Try the Stirfry, yummy.
My husband and I go here every week. I am addicted to their chips and salsa. My favorite is 'Nonnies' but the enchiladas get my vote as well. We love all of the servers, Yat, Drew, Victor...all of them. Great bunch of people!
As a restaurant goes, the food is amazing. THIS is what the OLD El Fenix tasted like. (Too bad EF is now crap). The Omelete de Enchilada was astounding. Never would've thought to mix the two, but extremely well balanced. The salsas are a nice addition to any meal, the verde being a nice touch. Also, the service is very attentive and very prompt. This is a diamond in the rough, and we will definitely be back. My only problem would be that they do not accept reservations. So if you're looking for a date night with the Mr. or Mrs., or an accommodation after a function for a small group, this is a great option. If, however, you are looking for a spot to host a big group of over six for a party, either go in the slow period of the day or prepare to wait an hour. Solid four stars, five if they took reservations.
Love this place. Service is superb and the tex mex is on point. Great margaritas. Glad to see this in this area and it doing well.
The GF and I checked out El Vecino on a date night with another couple. It was the first visit for all of us. Our friends really enjoyed their food as did we. Our service was great and everyone on the staff was really polite as we came in and left. That said, we considered it quite pricey considering the rather small food portions left all of us less than full. My GF had the brisket tacos and I had shrimp enchiladas. Her plate was a bit over-priced for 3 small tacos; mine was more reasonably priced but the portion size of 2 small enchiladas cancelled that out. For drinks, I had 2 beers and she had 2 margaritas that were definitely on the smallish side. While the food itself was okay, our bill for two entrees and four drinks was $57 before tip. I tipped 20% on top of that because the service was excellent. However, my GF and I definitely left hungry; we stopped by Whataburger on the way home and ate again. So even though the service and food were excellent, it's unlikely that we'll return any time soon. The value for our money just wasn't there.
My husband and I went here today for the first time. I am so glad we made the decision to stop here. The host (Alfredo) greeted us warmly and we were immediately waited on. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The margaritas were really good. We had the brisket queso for an appetizer (I would come back just for that, it was that good). Wednesday is the enchilada special for $5.99 so we had the chicken and beef enchiladas. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu. The owner came by and we had a nice conversation with him. We will be back.
The salsas and chips with butter are good.
Great staff. Good location. Lunch was good but pretty basic. Good price for the area.
They catered our family holiday meal today and it was outstanding! Great food and amazing service.
I love that we have this restaurant in our neighborhood and everyone who works there is very welcoming! The food is delicious, the salsa, the chips and a fun environment! Price point and quality of food is good. A place we visit monthly!
I love the decor of this place!! The salsas are wonderful and margaritas are good enough. The food tastes great but I feel like the enchiladas could be stuffed a lot More. Service is always great as well.
Have always enjoyed dining at Matt's, Enchiladas & Mi Cucina...obviously, all in a chain. Being a previous small business owner, have always wanted to give El Vecino a try. My mom and I were very pleasantly surprised this week when I picked up a to go order. They definitely have our vote on great enchiladas and I was very impressed with the friendly service when I picked our order up. It's so convenient for us and it's our new FAV Mexican spot.
I absolutely love the Pizza here and being from New York it has been hard to find a good place. This place definitely beats the rest, Thank God for Alfonso’s.
We love "El Vecino"... friendly atmosphere, great service, and to our Mexican American palates, great food. On Tuesdays they have "chile-relleno night", we either pick up or go there. On Wednesdays, enchilada night at $5.90 a complete plate. (The place get's rowdy-fun packed this night.)
Food was hot and tasty. The chips are excellent and the red salsa is delicious. We found by driving by about 6 months ago and now this is a weekly place that we visit.
Food was amazing Atmosphere was great, clean and welcoming! You have to try the stuffed cheroes ... I know this is spelled wrong They were stuffed with Caramel and chocolate In a whip cream bowl!!!! OMG AWESOME! We will be back!
My preferred place for delicious texmex. The staff was friendly and observant. Prices are fair I would say. Makes me feel like I am back in Tucson.
Already ate half of the first taco before I snapped this but it was soo good. Great service great food great atmosphere - a hidden gem. Definitely will be back to try out more things on the menu. Everyone at our table loved everything from the taco's to the enchiladas to the gauc.
The sign outside the restaurant says true Tex-Mex the food is truly freshly made and taste great. I had the Big John plate. Two enchiladas, tamale, crispy taco, rice and beans. The cheese enchilada was good but I am not a fan of the sour cream chicken enchilada personally it was alright. The waitress was very charming and delightful. The order came quickly considering the time of day at supper time on Friday. The decor was modern and some bright colors. A great place to have a true Tex-Mex meal.
I love this restaurant it's fabulous I've tried almost everything on the specialty side of the menu and have not found one thing that I do not like I would recommend this restaurant to anybody fabulous Tex Mex it's new it's clean it's exciting I just can't say enough about this restaurant that's why I gave it five stars I must go to for any occasion
This is my new go-to TexMex place. No surprises on the menu - it's classic, but the combos are more appealing than usual fare. I will try special dinners next time but first I wanted to make sure this was my kind of comfort food. Good service. Great mojito. Salsas are fresh and spot on. I rarely give five stars especially for traditional fare, but El Vecino ticks every box. I hope they can maintain this level of execution.
