Sad news! This location has closed. They plan to relocate, but aren't sure where yet.

I made it a goal to try all of the coffee shops close to me here in East Dallas. I totally looked over The Merchant at first because I figured that the coffee at a gift shop (which sells incredible things, by the way) couldn't be that special. Turns out this is my favorite spot to get a latte and I look forward to it all week!

Can't keep employees. Dan is stingy and everything is overpriced. No one is food certified and the coffee always tastes burnt.

The Merchant is a little hideaway, tucked among the avenue of shops and restaurants on Lower Greenville. The colorful yet adorable gifts, pop-culture signage, and collection of books sold brighten up the atmosphere of the store. They also have a coffee counter with a few small tables and seating at the front of the store, so I settled in and got my book out to read as I waited for my decaf, lavender, oat milk cortado (which was delicious: a fruity burst from the espresso, with a touch of sweetness from the lavender). Although their menu was simple, they had decaf as an option, which was a win for me, and the drink was superb. Additionally, the barista was just plain kind; he was down to earth, and appeared to take a lot of pride in taking time to beautifully craft each drink. While customers came in and out to admire the gifts, the shop was quiet and peaceful for the most part. I even felt rejuvenated when I left. This spot is A++ and all I can say is: let The Merchant be your sweet escape to decompress from the high energy/ activity taking place on the rest of Lower Greenville...you won't regret it!

Got a vanilla latte and my wife got the raspberry mocha, we took it to go and thought our first few sips tasted interesting. I couldn't figure out what it was at first so I took off the lid and smelled it to discover the milk was sour. My wife noticed some chunks in her drink after a few sips as well. Neither of us could drink half of ours and we aren't too picky - disappointed for $10 worth of coffee.

I use to come here a few times a week since I work in Lower Greenville. Sometimes I would get a discount, some days I wouldn’t. Price varies too much depending on who is behind register. An employee found my Instagram and sent me inappropriate messages when he was intoxicated. Came into complain and didn’t even get an apology and charged me $7 for a coffee I usually pay around $5 for. Make it make sense. Also, if a young woman comes into complain about feeling uncomfortable in your establishment so this doesn’t happen to anyone else, make them feel heard instead of dismissing them. Thanks.

Great for souvenirs and sips.

Coffee was great, but the real winner is the shopping. We loved exploring all of the offerings in the back room - definitely thought about tons of gifts for friends and family. I would come back and shop here all the time if I lived here! 10/10.

If a bookworm and a coffee connoisseur had a child = The Merchant. We walked in and the staff greeted us with big smiles and offered help immediately. All the pastries looked fabulous, we had to order one! Along with our impulse pastry, we ordered cold brew with vanilla and oat-milk and it quenched our coffee fix. The walls are lined with shelves of books, so while we waited we skimmed through. A great selection of books by the way, and they also offer small trinkets and gift options! We will be making our way back to The Merchant!

Customer service is always top notch here and the honey lavender latte is pretty good!

This is a mix of a coffee and gift shop. You can find unique books, candles, Rifle Gap Co products, adorable Jellycats, funny greeting cards and home decor. This is a really fun shop and worth visiting. I wish Dallas had more shops like this.
