They are open early and I appreciate that, I can stop on my way to work & pick up a dozen or two. I don't think a fee should be charged for using a debit card but I can understand a fee for a credit card. The convenience works for me because I don't have time for long lines or to shop around & most places don't open early like Pepe's Tamales. They also have other items that seem good but I haven't had the time to try them.

First review for 2024! I was craving Green Chicken Tamales and I just couldn't find them anywhere, but then I remembered this place! This place satisfied my craving and I got my dozen for like 19.99, it's the same price as the Tapatia. I like Pepe's because this is their specialty and not like other places where you have to order ahead of time or sell just during the holidays. These tamales were delicious and very spicy, with the perfect amount of chicken! They also had regular pork and also rajas con queso. I also noticed on the menu they have a tamales special in the morning like from 7 to 10 am and they also sell barbacoa. Service was fast and friendly and there was no waiting in line! Will have to try the menudo as well!
This year the tamales were not very good . I bought a dozen red and a dozen green chili chicken. The tamales were dry and had very little meat and too much masa . Having paid $19.99 a dozen, I expected better quality.

Very bad service from the person at the cash register. The service is no longer the same since the Owner is no longer there.How sad that that happened because I was a frequent customer of that place. Now I will have to look for another place to buy TAMALES.

It’s unfortunate that Covid has destroyed great places by making an excuse too raise prices and downsize on the way they use too make them. This place was once a great staple in the community but has gone down. Hopefully It can rebound and become great again till then there’s a place in canutillo that hasn’t changed.
