The cutest little bakery in the entire state of Texas! the owners are absolutely wonderful people and any time you go there you will be greeted with a smile! They remember their regulars and and without a doubt their pastries are unforgettable. Be sure to follow them on social media for up to date info on their hours because the bakery sometimes closes for events or for breaks for the very hard working bakers.
Do not miss out on this rich experience!! The fully restored Victorian Bed and Breakfast!! The cookies and pastries and hand pies so good you will never be the same
Our room was beautiful and cozy. Very comfortable and full of charm. The common areas were similar with a lot of cool Danish books and games explaining “hygge” which was provided in spades. The wraparound porch was also really beautiful, but we didn’t really take advantage of it. the hosts were delightful, but not obtrusive at all. Great communication and really provided little extras beyond our expectations. The location was really convenient for everything we planned to do, but still somehow in a quiet area. Finally, the spread and quality of baked goods was just sooo good! We wanted to try one of everything, but just couldn’t. Every single thing we did try tho was great!
Erna Marks along with her daughter Darlene and her husband Jim own and run this phenomenal B&B. The two-story Maxwell-Liston house was built in 1904 and is listed on the Texas Historic Landmark Homes. Darlene runs a bakery out of the tiny kitchen and sells to the public from the side entrance. She sets out free pastries and savory breakfast rolls for staying guests. The lace covered tables under a crystal chandelier create a beautiful morning atmosphere. You will hear Darlene working behind the sliding wood doors. She comes out frequently and interacts with you on a first name basis. She is such a beautiful person. Jim will greet you at the door the day of your arrival. He'll offer to carry your bags, hold the door and anything to make your stay delightful. You will see and interact with Jim the whole stay. He works around the house and is a gem of a person to sit and chat with. The house is beautifully old with creaky wood stairs, small stoops and era appropriate furniture. A wrap-around porch completes the experience. I sat out there one morning for over an hour in a rocking chair reading a book and drinking coffee. I highly highly recommend this place. Darlene and Jim make the difference. You cannot find more polite and delightful people anywhere that want to make your stay the best it can be. The house is mostly common areas open to all the guests, but each room is rented out separately. You will have a separate key to just your room with a second key to let you in the front door of the house. Darlene and Jim, thank you for the best weekend for my wife's birthday. We will be sharing the word with our circle of friends.
I'm pretty picky about places I stay and will be back here repeatedly. The hosts are genuinely pleased when they've anticipated a need; for example, my favorite teapot comes out for each visit. The house is relaxing from its wraparound porch to the rocking chairs. I've been in 2 rooms now and found special features in each. This last trip I got the oldest bathroom with its gorgeous claw-footed bathtub. Darlene's bakery has the most varied and novel goods you'll see outside of Denmark. I can rarely pronounce the names Darlene tries to teach me but she just gets me another one anyway. Central location in quiet neighborhood for access to art museums and more.
This is the second time I have order from cake and Icing. I am always satisfied. The cakes tasted soooo good and are not too sweet. Well designed. I will definitely keep ordering my cakes from cake icing for all my family.
Phenomenal place to stay. Excellent customer service, super friendly folks, incredible food!
Excellent donuts. Small traditional shop. Great customer service. Parking is somewhat of a challenge on the street depending on the time of day.
I just had the best experience I have ever had in a B&B. Not only was I a guest at the Three Danes Inn, but I was fortunate to meet the 3 Danes (as well as Jim). I truly understand the meaning of “hygge”, because I experienced it. Everything exceeded my expectations. Being a retired retail business owner, my expectations of how a guest should be treated are very high. The location is perfect. One mile from the convention center&downtown ... just down the street from the revitalized Southside. Great eateries and breweries abound and Jim and Darlene are happy to recommend a place (they’ve tried) to suit your preference. I’ll close with this. Imagine getting a great night’s sleep on a comfortable bed then waking up to the fragrance of freshly brewed coffee and the aroma of freshly baked Danish pastries. I bought patties to take home and I just finished consuming the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. It gets whatever the highest rating possible is from me. I’ll be back. Thanks Jim & Darlene, Billy - June 2021
Very cute building and delicious pastries!
Lovely bakery. Friendly staff. Outdoor seating!Bring your coffee and get some pastries to enjoy a lovely Saturday morning.Bakery is family owned and ran! We got to meet all 3 Danes on our visit. The savory pastries are amazing. We got a savory twist and a pepperoni roll and it was perfect The sweet pastries are amazing (I write as I'm finishing off the strawberry galette). Pastries and flavors rotate and they use local ingredients when they can.Just come try it! Support your local businesses! They're open Fridays and Saturdays. Shoot for the morning to get your pick of the sweets.
Best bakery we have been to in Fort Worth by a mile. We got 8 things on our last visit and none of them disappointed. The pastries are beautiful, tasty, and at a good price. Galettes, coconut macaroons, and cinnamon rolls satisfied our sweet tooth while gruyere twists and a pepperoni roll made for a great warm meal. In addition the service was extremely friendly and was more than happy to explain every menu item they had available. Plus, it is run by a mother and her two daughters, so you are supporting a small business. Highly recommend, please try them out. We didn't check out the bed and breakfast part of their business but the house is beautiful.
I was fortune to spend my birthday here last November. I have to say it is a wonderful place to relax and just enjoy calm. There are great pubs and restaurants with in walking distance and the quiet sounds of a cool breeze is very refreshing. I would whole heartedly recommend a stay over the weekend or a week here,
HEAVENLY!!!!! You MUST absolutely MUST make this a priority for the best baked goods!!!
Darlene is so sweet and accommodating and everything I have tried is absolutely delicious! Great place for some unique homemade goodies!
