107 Alamo Rd, Fredericksburg
Found this place on Trip Advisor. We were traveling from Austin to Fredericksburg so we detoured a bit to try it. I’ll say the burgers lived up to the reputation. Incredibly good. I also ordered the Frito pie which was a daily special. It was just ok but the burger and onion rings were top shelf. Service was friendly and fast. I can see why this place thrives in spite of being in the middle of nowhere.
This is a little, quaint stop just 15 minutes south of Fredericksburg in the backroads. Plenty of seating outside to enjoy a drink and live music or you can sit inside and admire the age of the place. They are proud of their Texas Monthly burger recognition, and they should be because it has an incredible flavor profile with each bite. Though a little big and on the messy side, don't let it stop you. Just go in to eating one of these monsters on an empty stomach because it's a hearty burger that will last you until the next day. And lest not forget, the fries were amazing. Couple this with their amazing and welcoming hospitality and you have a real winner. I'd definitely go back when I'm in the area again.
I got a mushroom Swiss burger and loved it. It's the wet and mushy kind of burgers that will fall apart. If you don't like those, your probably won't like it here. Fried green beans were okay, but the onion rings were food. Beer is self serve which was really neat, and the lady who took my order was hilarious.
You’re gonna get messy! But it’s a good kind of messy! A two handed, oozing goat cheese, licking your chin kind of messy! The burger options are numerous and the beer and wine are self serve? Pour you a little or pour you a little more! Why go anywhere else for a delicious, best in Texas, burger!
Some of the best hamburgers around. We drove 1 1/2 hours for this place. Worth it! And a beautiful drive
Had the pimento cheeseburger special today. It was excellent. They tell me it is going to be a regular menu item. Good choice! The only reason I don't give five stars is there was an employee that had very strong words toward a customer that parked a truck in the motorcycle area. I get it. There are signs all over the place. However, there are much nicer ways to handle it.
Great food with friendly service. Noticable changes on the exterior and ordering was simple. Lots of covered tables outside to sit and enjoy your food and your friends.
This was definitely worth the wait! Tons of veggie options. And the epitome of them being the portobello mushroom burger. I recommend letting the staff recommend how to fix this heavenly burger. I literally blocked out everyone else while enjoying every bite of this experience! Everything is locally sourced and made with heart. If you're anywhere near Fredericksburg, this is a must stop. Is definitely on our repeat list when we come back!! Please show some love to the staff, they're so sweet and helpful. And make sure to tip the kitchen! They're the heart behind your full and happy belly!
Excellent first time experience at Alamo Springs Cafe yesterday! Arrived around 12:30 and there was a 45 minute wait to let the kitchen catch up. We were told to go inside and grab a drink (they use the honor system so you don't pay for drinks until you're ordering your food) and we enjoyed a couple of cold beers at a picnic table while listening to live music. The wait went by in a flash and we were able to order and grab a table inside. Our food arrived within 10 minutes of sitting down and it was phenomenal. The burgers were juicy and I'm going to be thinking about that sourdough bun for a long time coming! Great day trip from Austin that we will definitely take again!
Internet was down, said they couldn't take our order. Was told to go inside and have a cold beer, no one ever took order, so we left. On the way out the door was ask if we wanted to see a menu. Told them we would be right back, we won't, place is out in the middle of nowhere.
Best burgers in Texas. Friendly staff and a great selection of ice cold beer. Scenic drive to get there. Enjoy.
awesome place and location. super friendly staff and amazing food. i highly recommend this place!!!
Hands down the best burger and chips ever!! Did not disappoint, great customer service too!
This was my my third visit with my wife. As we are not locals, our visits were a year or more apart. I can say as a burger connoisseur, and after several visits, that they serve the best burger in Texas! The ingredients are always fresh and tasty. Anywhere you can get an ample amount of quality goat cheese as a topping is worth a look! The choice of the jalapeno cheese bun holds it all together. They say their burgers are 1/2 pound, but I swear it was more. Don't overlook the sides, as the fries and onion rings are amazing too! Take the drive, which is not as hard to find with GPS as it was on our first trip without. The relaxed atmosphere, scenery, and great food will be worth any effort to get there. I recommended this to one of my high school service-learning classes, who made a road trip here. They talked about their experience well after a year later! P.S. - We met the owner. He came by and made us feel like locals.
A must go place outside Fredericksburg, Tx. It gets busy on the weekends but worth the wait. You'll have to google it to find it. While your there checkout the bat cave just a few feet from the restaurant.
