Came to Houston from out of town, was craving some sushi, and landed to Fukuoka by chance. Atmosphere is pleasant and staff very attentive. I ordered seaweed salad, vegetable tempura, and chirashi bowl. It was all beautifully presented, very fresh quality ingredients and flavorful. Perhaps my only observation would be with the tempura batter which was less fluffy and airy than my liking, but the taste was good. The raw fish cuts in the chirashinbowl were truly succulent and tasty - five star to that!

This is such a great hole in the wall sushi place! The outside does look unassuming but I promise it’s worth the try. We came for happy hour and found it to be well worth the money! We paid $23 for 2 speciality rolls. They had other sushi deals such as $13.50 for 2 maki rolls. I’d love to come and try out their lunch special next. Our favorite and must have rolls are the Seattle and crunchy. I’ll be dreaming of them until the next time we come back. The staff was courteous and the place was well kept. Was hesitant to share because I don’t want this spot to get overrun but it’s too good to not pass on this info!

Summary: Delicious food and attentive service.I was craving some sushi the other day, so I pulled up Google Maps. There are two places close to me: a typical take-out deli sushi place in the tunnels and Benihana (which is well overpriced considering their declining quality). Fukuoka popped up as an option, but it is a thirty-one minute walk. I still considered it, since the restaurant bears the name of my grandmother's birthplace. I was thinking that if the place is nice, I would take her sometime; I don't want to take her out for dinner and say, "this place is named after where you grew up, and it sucks." The implications of that. There are no worries, however, as this place was pretty great.Despite being there for lunch, I ordered the dinner version of the Chirashi Bowl. I will say that I wish the selection of fish had more variety, but what I got was still in fact delicious. The fish tasted fresh, and I absolutely adored the cucumbers. Better still was the rice. As of lately, most restaurants have been neglecting the process of seasoning their rice; the seasoned rice is an integral part of chirashi (you wouldn't build a bookcase and say that the shelves are optional). Fukuoka has provided, by definition, a bowl of chirashizushi, and I have missed such pleasure for a long time. The sweet tea had reached the saturation point of sugar, and it was great. Sometimes I crave a sweet tea that delivers on its name; but if you (presuming that anyone has even gotten to this point of the review) don't care for overly sweet drinks, you may want to order the tea half-and-half.The staff was very attentive. They took my order promptly, and they ensured that I did not have an empty cup. From my brief experience, I highly recommend Fukuoka. I will be taking my grandmother there in the near future, and she's the judgmental one in the family.
Just ate here for the first time this week and can definitely say I plan on coming back. I went during happy hour, and it had some great deals. Went with a group and we were all happy with our meals.

Located at the Mekong Center in the midtown Houston area, Fukuoka Sushi Bar and Grill boasts a welcoming traditionally decorated atmosphere with delicious taste.Recommended by one of our great family friends, we indulged to a short trip to Japan taste. The Chef and his sue, quietly prepared the soon to be delighted goodies. While the servers softly glide through the small but well clean and organized restaurant floor. We observed a variety of wines and sake, yet we saved them for our next visit.Definitely the beginning of a new tasteful journey with Fukuoka sushi Bar and Grill for us.Parking: Second level parking lot.
