Don’t get me wrong, Leo’s has plenty going for it and in time will meet its expectations of excellence in all areas. But you can see the teething problems that need to be ironed out. Their biggest problem is service, and in the service area, their biggest problem is the valet - just… no. Lackadaisical, not enough people, non-proactive and just chaotic. You don’t sell yourself as a high end dining establishment and have to wait 15 minutes both to drop off your keys and to get your car back. In the end, just went and got my own car. Greeting staff - needs work. Making faces at each other in front of the customer? No. Not a good look. Bar staff telling us to move just because we were standing trying to catch their attention to order a pre-dinner cocktail (which were truly excellent btw) - again, just don’t do it in the way that you don’t. It ain’t rocket science. It also took too long a time to get our orders in once we were seated. Food was good - strongly recommend the oysters (best in Houston?Quite possibly) and the deviled eggs. Lobster Thermidor was good enough. Another problem was that I chose a wine (Meursault) that they didn’t have - only 6 weeks after opening!!?? Really?
So you’ll understand / appreciate that these problems are not fundamental and hopefully will be ironed out by next time I visit. Because it’s good enough to want to go again and that’s the bottom line.

I was excited to try out this new steak restaurant in the River Oaks Shopping center, but was ultimately pretty disappointed. We had a reservation for 4 people for Friday night at 7:15. At 7:16 I received a text saying that our table was ready and to reply 1 if we were on our way. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:18 and upon checking in were told that we needed to wait in the bar for our table to be ready. Normally I don’t mind having to wait for the table, but it was a touch more annoying given I had just received a text saying our table was ready. It was another 10 minutes before we were shown to our table.
We were seated in the upstairs dining room which was lovely and a little quieter than being downstairs next to the piano. Upon being seated, we received menus and placed our water order which didn’t arrive until after we placed our cocktail/appetizer order. Our cocktails then didn’t arrive until after our appetizers. From the time we sat to the time we finally received a cocktail it was over 20 minutes.
With regard to the food, we really enjoyed the burrata and the risotto appetizers. The butternut squash risotto was probably the best dish of the night. The bread was fine, but not worth ordering in my opinion. For mains we ordered Truffle Agnolotti, Roasted Chicken, Whole Fish, Cauliflower & Potato Dauphinoise. Our waiter also tried to talk us into the lobster Mac & cheese but I don’t eat shellfish so he suggested we also order the Gnocchi. He said it was a special gnocchi with no potato (which should have been a red flag). To be completely honest, the only dish I enjoyed was the Truffle Agnolotti. The gnocchi was entirely too soft, the cauliflower was roasted well but the flavors were unappealing. The chicken was also cooked well but I didn’t like the sauce. For dessert we had the orange ginger soufflé. The flavor was great but there was a layer of oil towards the bottom of the ramekin and the interior texture was… not correct.
This is a new restaurant so maybe they just haven’t found their sea legs yet, but for a very expensive meal neither the food nor the service was where I would expect it to be.

With a name like Leo’s I had high expectations for this establishment. I’m saddened to say that my experience was subpar at best. The steak lacked any flavor. Oysters were mediocre. And a few other things I shall not mention. All in all , I do not think this meal matched it’s price tag. Dare I say Leo’s fell into an unfortunate trap of restaurants in the greater Houston area focusing more on ambiance than the quality of food.

We went there on their 3rd week opening. Food was fantastic, all the way from appetizers to desserts. The restaurant is working on polishing their services, and their were willing to take feedback. Overall, it was great and will go back again!

I’d go back for drinks only. As a Leo, I treat people how I want to be treated and that is a lost principle here. Beautiful place with a lot of potential but non-personable bar staff who are inattentive. It’s lacking the high end feel but pushing the high end cost.

With the exception of the filet (which was severely over-cooked), the excessive wait for every course (with restaurant at 20% capacity), the confusion on availability of bottled water, the manager who admittedly doesn’t eat the restaurant’s raw menu (preferring hot dogs and hamburgers), the waiter’s choice to serve a mixed assortment of oysters from different regions (without asking us), and the lack of dress code enforcement (half of patrons in t-shirts) I thought the food was good. MIGHT have given them another try if I thought they wanted my business. But I won’t be returning. Too many other options who “do restaurant” with a higher degree of class and professionalism.

Great food and service! Highly recommend!
My experience at Leo's was wonderful! Definitely deserves 5/5 stars all around. The server we had was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant itself was very clean and immaculate. The design is beautiful and perfect for a date night or for a special celebration! My favorite dish was the gnocchi! I've been thinking about it since. I will be back and cannot wait!

Gorgeous interior with a mellow atmosphere. Every dish that we ordered was phenomenal. My personal favorite was the 14oz medium rare NY strip. The staff was super polite and very knowledgeable with the menu items. It is only a matter of time that I'll be back to Leo's.
