I'm 52 and have been eating here most of my life, it is the best German restaurant in Texas. There are a few good ones elsewhere but Rudi's is the best. They have entrees no elsewhere else does and the the added salad bar was delicious. When Rudi sold this place to the new owners it lost a couple things like tableside midnight coffee and bananas foster, but the recipes stayed the same. The breads and spreads are amazing, always have to take some home. They are closed now, hopefully just for renovations!
We are ready to revisit if it opens again.

Out of 50% of food. Only table there on a Saturday evening. So sad, we missed the real Rudy!. New management is clueless.

First time dining at Rudi Lechners’…not impressed. Online suggests to make a reservation; one was not needed once we arrived at 6:30p.m. The restaurant does need to be refreshed. Service was good but not great. The waiter didn’t even ask if it was our first time nor did he direct us to the salad bar that came with the meal. The server delivers a couple of pieces of the zucchini bread with a sweet and a savory flavored butter. This was very tasty.
My husband and I decided on the Heritage Sampler for two at $46 or $49.50.
It consisted of potato pancake latkes, honey teriyaki roasted chicken, fried chicken breast cutlet, roasted pork loin (tenderloin) smothered in a gravy, one grilled knackwurst, one pork wiener schnitzel, Austrian potatoes, sauerkraut, cooked red cabbage. The food was NOT hot when we received our platter.

We got a reservation for 5 pm to miss the crowd on Saturday night. It was a wonderful experience! The waitress was so attentive, warm, and experienced. She knew what we needed and delivered it before we asked. The entertainer, a very talented Accordion player, played a variety of music and took requests that we were able to dance to. The two varieties of bread delivered before our salad course were a choice of a white variety and a cake type brown bread. The brown variety was eaten quickly. The white was eaten with our meals. The salad bar had a lot of variety and was kept in a refrigerated unit, so it was nice and cool. We ordered a variety of meals so we could try multiple dishes. We ended up taking home some of our entrees so that we could enjoy the desserts. I don't get excellent German food often. Rudy Lexhner's was a treat!

This place is fantastic. The food has great portions and is reasonably priced, service (Especially Greta) was so sweet, attentive, & quick, and all the food tasted authentic from my time in Germany! Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Try the sampler plates for a good variety & massive portion!

Brother, I'll be honest, the food wasn't even that great. Meat was way too thick and breading too thin. Schnitzel was probably made in the deep fryer and was far too mushy. Atmosphere was again quite nice with polite service.

I went here Friday for lunch & ordered the sample plate, as did 2 friends. We do Friday lunch together on a regular basis. A very pleasant surprise. Glad to have tried the sample plate & we each discussed the particular meal we would to order the next time we go.
This German restaurant is a solid choice. The food is delicious and feels authentic, and the service is friendly and quick. I also really loved the salad bar—it had a great variety and was super fresh. The only downside is that the interior is a bit run down and could use some updates. It doesn’t quite match the high quality of the food and service, but if you’re more focused on the meal than the atmosphere, it’s definitely worth visiting. Four stars!
