Tamales Don Pepe is a hidden jewel in central SW Houston's fairly dented crown. We eat there at least once a week.

I get caldo de pollo - the broth is clear, the vegies are perfectly cooked, and the chicken is sublime. It's my go-to cold prevention tool.

Love this place! Been eating breakfast here for about 7 years. They’ve moved to Stella Link now so there’s better parking. My favorites include the flor de calabaza and huitlacoche quesadillas and picadillo empanadas. My all-time fav is the huevos divorciados. Yum!

I had menudo and pork tamales. Im very cheap and inclined to say that it was expensive. But it was delicious and worth it.

First time coming here. I ordered the chilaquiles with fajita and over easy eggs. Of course I had to get their café de olla to pair with it. The food was so good, it made me feel like I was home in Mexico 🇲🇽.

Great for breakfast. I ate here five days in a row while staying nearby.

Breakfast is my main meal, and I like it fresh and healthy.

Each day I got an omelette with spinach, tomato, jalapeño, Mexican cheese (queso fresco), with a side of avocado and flour tortillas. And it was consistently good each day. Included with the omelette is beans and potatoes.

And the orange juice is freshly squeezed too (none of that crap Minute Maid stuff).

Food mediocre. Portions very small for the price. Give the portion size, this is the most expensive Mexican food in town - served in a dive with bars on the windows. Even 8 year children were still hungry afterwards. Taco cabana has better queso. Anywhere has better quesadillas - even Taco Bell. Place was empty for dinner - likely because others found someplace better to eat. I simply can’t understand why this place has good reviews. Will never come back.

If I could give this place a negative five stars I would because of how my service was and how I was treated I came about an hour before closing and I ordered the chicken tortilla soup I called before I came in to see what I will be getting I was told it was a 15 oz portion when I arrived I was given an 8 oz plastic container with broth filled 3/4 of the container and about a half a piece of a chicken drumstick shredded when I asked the owner and the lady working was this 15 oz they looked at me dead in my face lied and said yes like I don't know what a 8 oz container is because I was dealing with the owner I accepted defeat and I know that I would never support them again. I spent 9$ on a 2$ portion. And the sucky part is the owner was rude and standoffish and I wasn't rude at all. Waste of money and time sucks I swiped my card there. Boooooooo Zero on the experience. I don't know why they let some people do business that have no people skills at all. You don't have to be rude to everyone that you come across everybody's not a messed up person.

The food is good but the price is to high you can get way better food at a nicer restaurant for cheaper And bigger tacos for 2.00 The breakfast tacos are 3.75 and they are small for that price you will have to eat atleast 4 to get full. Want be going back i wouldnt recommend to a family that has a large group your money will go to waste. My husband was very upset when he seen the tacos. Not to mention they don't put really any meat in them. People work hard for their money to to charge them kind of prices for food is outrageous for that place not to be an upscale restaurant.

Authentic Mexican, not your typical Americanized fare. Friendly staff and generous portions, reasonably priced
