Idk about the review a week ago… that’s what I went based off of (plus the available google hours) and commoner is closed and has construction:( don’t go. I’m so sad. The one place on main street with great music and amazing vibes.

Decent bar. The no sitting thing is a no for me though. Cant wear heels all night and cant sit down without paying. Atleast put some stools at the bar

The name “the commoner” makes sense for this place. Nothing really special about it. Pretty regular looking place. Completely overpriced with rude service. Ordered something and never got it so at least my money didn’t get wasted here. Bathrooms were horrible. Only plus side is that it was by other places that were actually worth the money. Will not recommend or attend ever again.

The manager kristina is absolutely unprofessional. She’s made threats to my family all cause someone talked to her boyfriend? Would never go to a place with someone so nasty running it.

It's a good atmosphere for about 5 minutes. The drinks I got from the bar were trash, and not to mention if you leave any personal belongings there you will NEVER see them again because this establishment has no respect for people and their possessions. The manager, or whatever she claimed to be, accused me of being disorderly, supposedly has banned me, and was very rude over the phone all over my being upset (and rightfully so) because they have no respect for others. All I wanted was to get my glasses so I could get home safely, but to these buffoons human life is only good for 1 thing, and that's money. So in conclusion, screw this establishment and anyone that supports it.

I was here as a DD with friends. I asked for a coke: the bartender said it was $3. I stayed at the bar as I typed a review on yelp and she approached me and said.. “u leaving a yelp review.. I don’t care” I asked for her name and then security approached and said I had to leave. I said “are u upset bc I’m leaving a review” and he replied “u are not welcome here” ridiculous. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

So, I asked the bartender here for a coke bc I'm a DD tonight. They charged me $3 for a Coke. $3!!! Commoner should be ashamed of themselves for charging $3 for a tiny coke to a designated driver. AWFUL! They didn't even give a full glass. Have a glass as if it was mixed with a drink. Too bad the receipt doesn't tell who the server is. UPDATE: she told security I was leaving a review and they asked me to leave. Said I was no longer welcome. Apparently the owner has a smart mouth. Yes. I though $3 was a bit much. But kicking me out bc she saw me on yelp was the real issue... but apparently the owner is okay with that.

A young broke crowd, don't go here unless you want to be smashed and burning hot all night. The music was good though.

I came here Friday night with my brother just trying to show him a good time while he was in town. Fast forward through the night, & a friend and I ended up getting kicked out over mistakingly entering the wrong bathroom. Once I was outside the bouncers started to get aggressive with my friend and I simply stepped in to tell them there was no need for that. One of the bouncers then began to push me and punched me in the face. I got up from the ground and continued to be pushed by the bouncer, during this time my bag fell off my arm and was stolen. The bouncer hit me so hard my contact fell out. They wouldn't let anyone from my group go back in to look for my belongings & threatened to have us arrested if we didn't leave. Never would I imagine my night would end this way & this is NOT okay.

My 23 y/o fraternal daughter and son visited this club on 12/27. They called my husband and I after my daughter and a hIgh school acquaintance were kicked out of the club. Apparently her acquaintance inadvertently went into the ladies room vs the men's room. He was told he needed to leave (my daughter was told she needed to leave as well) they complied. After they were outside the club, the bouncers started pushing on her male friend. My daughter said, "there's no need for that we are outside the club". The bouncers then pushed my daughter and when she didn't walk away, he swung his fist and hit her in the face. She had texted her twin brother, my son, on the way out saying she was outside and was ready to go. He comes out and sees the bouncer hurting her and he approaches him to try to stop him. He proceeds to hit my son in the face. My kids are both college grads and professionals. This type of behavior, particularly towards my 5'4" daughter was excessive. She was knocked to the ground and when she fell her purse came off her shoulder. Someone stole it and she had her car keys and ID in it. My husband and I had to pick them up and stay with the car to ensure it wouldn't be stolen. We had to incur the expense to have the car towed. We are attempting to contact the owner and file a formal complaint. I know that they may have a different story, but there is NO reason that a young lady should be hit in the face by a bouncer. It is just WRONG and we are not letting this go. I searched the yelp reviews and there are other incidents similar to ours that have been reported. #madmama #yallmessedwirhrhewrongone

Definitely not one of the best clubs in Houston! There are much better places with better drinks/bartenders/service/ music etc. It wouldn't even make sense to get bottle service here. $18 for 2 shots that hardly have alcohol in them is ridiculous. Atmosphere was ok. Creatively naming your drinks with a Houston theme was cool but not if the drink is mediocre.
