Food was subpar. Definitely not authentic mexican/tex mex. And for the price, location, and restaurant style itself, you'd think it was. Everything tasted like it was precooked and frozen. 25 bucks for a fajita chicken and steak quesedilla, with chips and a large salsa togo.

There was just something different today. The food didn’t have that rich Mexican taste. The taste was spicy without the flavor. It has been a place to go for k er 20 years. The food was very Blau today.

They used to be our #1 place to eat but they have deteriorated the last couple years. Ordering delivery is a gamble, you never know what is missing. Last time we ordered delivery, the chips were missing. So, we paid over $45 for just a salad and salsa! We won't be ordering or eating there again.

Took my boys out for dinner and I gotta say I was very disappointed on the quality of the food. The portions were more than I could ask for great portions. When you’re desiring to spend good quality time with the family and you definitely wanna enjoy a great dinner to go with it. But tonight ya definitely didn’t come through with it the grande platter is definitely a hungry man’s plate. With the prices on the menu don’t match the quality that I was expecting. Will not be going back!!

After much deliberation, we ordered The Grande. This consists of a cheese stuffed poblano, cheese, chicken and beef enchiladas, a tamale, a crispy taco and rice & beans. There is also a dollop of guacamole. This is a great dish if you can't decide on one or two items, or if you want guaranteed leftovers. Outside of the rice being a little dry, everything was hot and flavorful. I can also recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp, even though we didn't get them this time. We sat in the bar section but it wasn't too loud as some can be, and our server was prompt and helpful.

The food and service is always excellent here. I am disabled so it is important to me that this restaurant is fully ADA. The only problem is that this place is always very busy. Everyone loves to come here because the service is consistently good and the food is very good TexMex. But if you want an out of the way spot with a laid back vibe, this ain't it. Thid is all hustle and bustle, turn and burn, eat and get out. The kind of vibe you'd find in a big city restaurant that is confident in its food and its servers. If you have friends in from out of town & you want to give them taste of real TexMex, this is where you bring them. They have actual chef specials that really taste like chef created dishes. The interior is nicely decorated with a Southwestern Aztec theme, not with a touristy fake TexMex theme like the dive down the street with a piñata in the window. Be prepared to wait tho, unless you have reservations. And take a rideshare over there if you can because parking is hell at the Lubbock location, even for the disabled. There just isn't enough parking for such a popular place. And if you take a rideshare then everyone can drink their wonderful margaritas & sangria!Abuelo's is a Texas chain but there is only one in Lubbock. The next closest one is either in Amarillo or Midland. I've eaten at an Abuelo's elsewhere and I haven't had a bad meal yet. So if you find yourself wanting some real TexMex, let me recommend Abuelo's.Parking: Difficult to find parking, but spots that are open are free. Many handicapped spots but usually all taken at lunch AND dinner. Would recommend taking a rideshare to restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: We had my mother's 75th birthday party here because it was the most ADA restaurant that we came across.

Five stars all around for Abuelo's. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice ambiance whether you are in the bar area, at the bar, or in the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Food and drinks were delicious. Definitely coming back to this laid back spot.

Good food. Only problem, there were only about 10 tables being served and they crammed all the ones being served into the same small area. There was one very loud patron who made the whole experience less desirable.
