Great venue and upgrade from previous location. The place is filled with local talent and the acts never stop-- which is great for entertainment purposes. The drinks are at a great low price; I see why so many people come to Recovery during the weekends.
This is a great bar with a lively crowd, a great sound system, and friendly bartenders. It's a refreshing change from the older gay bars in McAllen. The drag shows do not "drag on" as you'd expect, so if you like to dance, this is the place for you. The crowd is young, but I didn't feel too old in their company. The featured drag queen is Kathryn York who happens to be a seasoned pro. Even if you hate drag shows, you'll be impressed with her.

Pretty much setup like JR's/Santa Fe in Houston. Two distinct differences is that at the RR, you have a spacious dancefloor and they serve pub grub. It was a fun place to party, and the clientle was pretty mixed. If you're in the RGV from H-town or Dallas, the Recovery Room should ease your homesickness for a big city gay bar. Please note: $5 cover charge, which isn't unreasonable. Peace out.
