Tamale Restraint

Traveling through Montalba, TX on highway 19 we stopped for lunch at Irene's Cocina.It had a typical small Texas town look. It was not very busy and they were closing soon.We were greeted with a smile and told to sit anywhere.The menu was written on a whiteboard. It was a simple menu with about eight choices. We were just driving past wandering around on the weekend and actually drove past this place. We immediately made a U-turn because we were hungry.We were just taking a random chance on some little tiny restaurant. We absolutely were not disappointed! The food was great and the service matched! Do not pass this up if you are ever in the area! It is definitely worth a quick stop for some delicious food and great hospitality!

Remarkable Restaurant! Owner is a sweet heart. FOOD IS OUTSTANDING!All of its had different menu items and can attest to the enchiladas, Chili Relleno and the Tamales were WORLD CLASS!Their Homemade Tomatillo and Chili Sauce were PERFECTION!Absolutely worth the drive from Athens or Palestine, or heck Dallas or Houston for that matter!
