My Vegan daughter and her girlfriend were visiting from Austin, we searched for a pet friendly place to visit and she settled on Hash. My wife and I being non Vegans made the mistake of picking up some seafood and meeting our daughter there for their vegan options. That’s where it all went south, my fault for bringing our non vegan food into the yard. I mention “yard” because that’s exactly what it was, a very small unkept yard with uneven dirt and concrete surrounding a small building with a food truck in it. As we sat waiting for their food I noticed some things that I’m sure are not up to code for a food establishment, hence why the building is probably closed off for business. When the server finally brought the food out to our table she immediately questioned if the food inside our unopened bag contained any meat. I said yes that it was seafood and that we had no problem taking back to the vehicle. She then said that no outside food or drinks were welcomed and suggested that she could bring to go boxes for the food ordered there. That there is the issue, why bother asking if the bag contained meat if it didn’t matter since outside food is not allowed and why offer to go boxes to a meal she had just delivered. It’s understandable that she may have been having a bad day but as a server she should’ve had a better approach and not let her horrible attitude shine through. Sorry not sorry Vegans!

The Mac is some of the best I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and vegan food.
Hash's menu offers a variety of vegan options. Its a cozy, casual atmosphere with a comfy dive vibe. The service is amazing and makes you feel at home. We meet up with friends weekly there, and they offer board games and video games to play as well.

The Monte Kristo was a welcoming delight. Mac and cheese was just okay. Kale Caesar salad was good. Very long wait, not sure if that’s regular.
Warm, tasty, community eatery. 100% plant based vegan restaurant.
I wish I had taken pictures. Of course we read the reviews but with vegan spots, never sure what to expect. The fish tacos were amazing and seasoned perfectly. The Mac and cheese was the best vegan Mac I’ve tasted, although it could have used more cheese. An unexpected twist is that we combined the lavender and strawberry lemonade and it was delicious!!! I tasted everyone else’s food and was pleased as well. The deserts were not my favorite, but my mom and daughter-n-law seem to really like them. The atmosphere wasn’t my tastes m, but it doesn’t change the fact that I would absolutely visit again!

The food here was exceptional! My omnivore husband devoured his burger and that's saying something. I had the buffalo cauliflower hash plate and it was so flavorful and perfectly spicy. Will definitely be back next time we're in town.
The cornbread waffle was incredible, savory with a little heat from the jalapeños, and the mocktails hit the spot. Everything about this place was on point. Definitely on my list of places to frequent in S.A.

I have mixed feelings about Hash. First off, props to them for being one of the very few vegan restaurants in San Antonio. We need many more, in the interests of environmental sustainability and animal welfare. And I appreciate the owners being so focused on the community and helping others. They even have a cozy nook with board games and crayons for groups to hang out in.
I appreciate that the restaurant encourages sobriety (from alcohol) and functions as a dry bar of sorts. Too bad it encourages recreational drug use.
I appreciate that the restaurant is not overtly religious. Too bad it encourages superstition - there even appears to be some sort of psychic reading parlor or something in it.
The decor is certainly unique.
Now, as for the food:
Mac & cheese: 10/10. I was really surprised and impressed. This may be the bet mac & cheese I've ever had, and usually vegan versions are disappointing.
Chicken (fried cauliflower): 8/10. Better than I expected. It has an unusual aftertaste... I'm not sure what they do, but it reminds me of a well-toasted marshmallow somehow. The aftertaste did linger for hours.
Peach waffles: 5/10. The toppings were good! The basic waffle itself was surprisingly chewy and a disappointment.
Banana bread: 4/10. I have fond memories of chocolate chip banana bread growing up. This was nothing like that. It was kind of, I don't know, powdery? Just not good.

Amazing place serving healthy vegan food. I really enjoy their frito pie, the veggie rice bowl, and their buffalo cauliflower tacos. My partner is obsessed with their frito pie. The mac and cheese is yummy too, I tried it with the buffalo cauliflower. The lemonades are refreshing, I like the sage one. Nice matcha latte too.
The place is so comforting. I like that they are providing a safe space for people who are recovering and beyond. They care about their community and it makes me like the place even more.

The Food is awesome and delicious, even though it's all vegan. The good that this restaurant doesn't for the locals is a beautiful thing to see! From the free water, to feeding the homeless!!! Keep up the Great Work!!! San Antonio needs more restaurants like this.
