Excellent cuisine and beverages. Highly recommend!
Terrible! When we arrived we were told that their reservation system was down and they didn’t have a place for us. I insisted because I had in fact made a reservation so they finally put us in one of the many empty tables. Took at least 20 min to even see our server. Ordered drinks and waited at least another 20-30 min and she still got our order wrong. Food took forever and when it arrived, both of the medium tenderloins were well done and honestly looked microwaved. No steak knives. Asked for blue cheese-crumbles and received a weird blue cheese flavored paste. Wine glass was filthy. Very mediocre overall and will not return. If you want a wonderful experience that is worth every penny, go to Silo. I wish we had not tried something new.
Randomly chose to eat here with my hunny since we live nearby. It's Tuesday August 2nd 2022 around 4pm. Started out pretty dead (personally I don't mind that, I'm not big on lots of noise) I felt like we were staring at the menu a good while because nothing was speaking to us. We were about to just leave but decided to try something. We ordered non alcoholic drinks (I'm not supposed to drink alcohol) but I did want a sweet tea.. which they didn't have, so I had to order a water unfortunately. For starters we got the crab hush puppies. When we go the food it looked like some sort of beignet? I wasn't expecting the powdered sugar on the top & I felt like it was dry, definitely burnt (had a not so great burnt taste at that) wasn't a golden color as expected (hence it was burnt probably fried in dirty/burnt oil) & I was still looking for the crab? Barely any in there to call it a "crab" hush puppy. It just wasn't what I was used to especially since I've eaten some really delicious ones in Louisiana (and honestly even surfing crab has some decent hush puppies).Better news: My hunny ordered the pork belly bahn mi, which wasn't too bad actually. I had the ribeye sandwich, which I thought was pretty tasty.Unfortunately overall, I don't think we liked it enough to return anytime soon. If we were drinkers we'd probably give it a try, maybe they make good drinks? I dunno.
We enjoyed everything about General Public! The food, drinks and service was superior! Miguel was our our server, and he was exceptional in the service he provided.
Overall terrible service, food, and experience. I went to the bowling alley next door to this restaurant with my family and we decided to eat here afterwards. The menu looked delicious, but almost everything we ordered was not very good. The empanadas, Brussel sprouts, and ribeye sandwich were all a let down. Empanadas were barely edible and the Brussel sprouts were soggy. The side salad, which is $6.45, was the smallest salad I have ever seen consisting of maybe 8 pieces of lettuce. Our food took over 45 minutes to come out on a Wednesday night and there were only about 5 tables in the restaurant. Once our food finally started coming out, two of four dishes were delivered to the table and the last two weren't dropped off until almost 5 minutes later. Our server came to the table a total of 3 times and we waited 20 minutes after we were done eating for her to come bring the check, until we had to ask someone to tell her we were ready to pay out.
The one star is strictly for the service and not their food, I understand there's a shortage of staffs everywhere and I'm very understanding. Was in the service industry for 8+ years. Hence, we expected the food to take its time, also why we ordered a pitcher of sangria to talk and waste time. The waitress came a few times to remind us it's coming and again, blamed it on short staffs. No biggie. What I did not appreciate was the food coming out cold, which tells me it has been ready and sitting out. Mind you, this was around 2pm, so restaurant was quiet empty. Hubby's fries were cold and we all know how unpleasant cold fries taste. The burger meat was cold, the cheese on my sandwich was already hard. What a disappointment, we had plenty of time to observe and the waitress had at most three tables that I counted being there were 2 other servers, one bartender, and two hostess. There was really no excuse for the food to have been sitting out that long. I don't mind the wait, as long as my food comes out hot or at least warm.
First time visit. Seated promptly but wait for order a little long. Server was apologetic and attentive to our table. The entrees and mock tail was delicious. Great food quality and presentation. Portion size was generous as well. Would recommend to others.
My server was nice and barely tentative. Most of the servers and bartenders seemed like they didn't want to be there. Food was over priced for what you get and was disappointing. My daughter ordered a plain burger with no bells or whistles, just plain and we were charged for a bacon burger at the outrageous price of over $15! My salmon ceasar salad was nothing special and the salmon was mush and squishy. The salad hardly had any cheese on it and when I asked for pepper I was given a grinder that didn't work. I told my server when he came back to the table that pepper wasn't coming out he had an excuse and then never returned with pepper, LOL! Wasn't busy and many servers and bartenders not really caring to give a good dining experience. The hostess seemed melancholy and distracted when we walked through the door but our server definitely tried to smile and pretend to care about our dining experience.2 stars just because we liked the seats and ambience, another star for sympathy. Hope things get better.
Visited and a weekday for happy hour not super crowded. The drink specials were decent and the tapas were fairly tasty. Our server was awesome, very friendly and courteous. I would say they were understaffed though because we witnessed at least two parties sit at the bar and then leave without being served. The lone bartender was simply stretched too thin. We were in a booth and our server was hustling so we didn't have any issues with service. One other issue was the lone urinal wouldn't flush so that was a definite blemish. Minus these two things I would've given the bar 4 stars.
Came here for brunch and was really disappointed. Service was polite but extremely slow. Food was just OK. The avocado toast saved the experience.
My friend and I came for brunch on a Sunday. We were quick to be seated and provided service right away. Our server was amazing and checked on us in a timely manner [wish I could remember her name :(]. We had ordered the breakfast tator tots, stuffed mushrooms and chicken ceasar salad, all of which were AMAZING!! and we thoroughly enjoyed the beer and shot combo they offer on their drink menu! Can definitely see us coming back again!
Oh my goodness the shrimp and avocado salad is Top Shelf and the drinks where wonderful. But better still was the staff. From the young man at the host stand, to the bartender from UTSA to the young man showing up for the evening shift: personable, kind and super-competent staff! Highly recommend
Chef Jackie made delicious food, and even sent out to extra cooked fish because she didn't like the way the first batch turned out. Aly was attentive and mad EXCELLENT drinks (old fashioned was phenomenal). Was our first time visiting, and will be back. Plus, the $10 lunch special is great value!
Stopped in before our movie to grab a quick bite. Wow, super impressed with the service, staff and food. I had the Sunny Enchiladas which was part of the brunch menu. It was hot in temperature which is a big deal for me, and extremely flavorful. Our waitress was very attentive to us as it was busy at the time. My husband had the Apple Chicken club with a side salad. Forgot to get a pic.
Very laid back place with good service. We stopped in for a drink and appetizer to watch the 1st half of the NBA Finals. Our server was nice and attentive and the food was decent.
