The food was amazing. Had a lot of flavor. And the salsa was on point. Spicy. Will definitely come

We got the lengua taco and it was hard as a rock. It was absolutely completely inedible. Like... We would have chipped a tooth on it. The other tacos were also hard as a rock. We tried to pull the meat apart with literally all of our strength and it wouldn't. When I came in, no one was around to assist, and it smelled like literal feces. As I was waiting, I tried to open and close the door again to signal the bell but still no one. There was no one in there (even tho I had just placed my order over the phone). As I was waiting, I looked down in the little window below the cash register and I'm pretty sure the candy that's in there was probably found under one of the booths over 10 years ago, they looked nasty. Again, still while waiting, as I was looking around I couldn't find the food health safety rating and started to wonder what it was, because the place just felt gross honestly. And this was ALLLL BEFORE we even got our to go order and notices how bad the food was. 3 crispy tacos, one lengua taco, one barbacoa, two aguas frescas.... $30. How? The tacos were smaller than any local tacos I've ever seen. And two of them were completely inedible. And I'm not even trying to be dramatic - literally you physically could not eat them. It's like the meat was 3 days old sitting under a warming lamp or something.I know they were closed for a while but... Maybe get some new chefs and clean up the place before opening back up? Idk, just a suggestion. Also maybe a little Lysol? especially if the employee is coming out of the restroom to serve you.............

Do not get scrambled eggs here, my kids wouldn't touch them and I don't blame them. Worse than school food. Beans were not seasoned well, the rice had good seasoning but was mush. Just very mediocre food.. not the worst in town but definitely not the best as others have claimed. Just not for us, we like flavor.

The place smells kinda funky but the food is freaking good. And not expensive. Service is pretty good as well. I will definitely comeback for the food.

I was really looking forward to the Pozole. Especially with it storming outside. Unfortunately, was super salty!! I like salt but that was unbearably salty, even with added lime. Tasted like plain salt water without seasonings. For me, the best part of Pozole is the juice. I tried eating just the hominy and some meat but got a headache from so much salt. The chile con queso was hard. The refried beans had tons of burnt pieces of onion with way more salt. Not good. The owner wasn't in to talk to about the food being reheated, re-salted, and served the next day so I paid $26 to leave majority of it there and leave with a headache.

Great place for breakfast tacos. And so reasonably priced at a time where everyone else is jacking up their prices.

Today was the first and last time. I saw the rating and thought yeah why not. Cold and stale is why not. We didn’t complain to the staff. Maybe they were just having an off day, but we won’t be back.

I don’t recommend this restaurant the restrooms are dirty. Food had no taste and very little food and the price was expensive and the food was not good at all. Beware!!

I've been in the mood for Taquería-style Mexican food for a couple days now. San Marcos is full of Taquerías, and most of them are closed Mondays! Not just here either, everywhere. So much so that I've nicknamed any business that's closed Mondays as operating under "Taquería hours!"Mind you, Taquerías are not the same as Tex-Mex! Completely different experiences & one cannot judge a place like El Charro vs a place like Chuys, Papasitos, or Texican Cafe...I haven't been to El Charro since college, but they're the only Taquería open on a Monday & I'm glad it's still there. I don't do that many reviews anymore, but this place is so underrated & deserves to be recognized! The Carnitas-a-la-Mexicana plate definitely slapped! The carnitas itself was a bit dry, but the mixture of the stewed tomatoes, grilled onions, & jalapeños really does miracles here! I wasn't a huge fan of the Salsa Verde either (wayyyy too tangy), but the Salsa Rojo... hell yeah! That added to the carnitas really tied everything together! Is this my favorite Taquería? Not really, I got other places I definitely frequent way more than here. But being open 7 days a week; I'm a fan & this place has my respect because of it!Parking: Better off parking on the street & walking over.

Went for lunch and it was delicious, the chips and salsa, the Texas plate , and especially the pozole was very flavorful. The staff was attentive, very satisfied with the whole experience.

Lovely waitresses quick and nice... Everything I've eaten has been great very small place not for a really large group but it's the way I like it...Parking: If there's no parking I'll let you know there's no seating... Almost equal parking to table ratio
