I wanted to like it. I remember Chef Chans from the early 80’s and all the good press he got. I got two dishes, and both were bland. I was disappointed and won’t return. Im sure it’s hard running a restaurant and I’m hesitant to even post this. To the management- are you eating your own food? You must not be.

Chef Chan’s The Original has the Finest Chinese Cuisine in The Woodlands.Having lived in Houston previously, I visted Chef Chan’s very often. Upon returning to Houston after many years, I was disappointed to discover that the Chef Chan’s that I used to visit ( in Grogan's Mill Village Center) had changed ownership.Nevertheless, discovering that the original owner had launched a new venture, "Chef Chan’s the Original," filled me with joy.Returning to the restaurant and meeting the original owner evoked a flood of cherished memories, and I was thrilled to learn that it retained its original recipes while upholding its unwavering standards of excellence and cleanliness.Among my favorite dishes are the Spicy Scallops, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, and Spicy Green Beans. My vegetarian friends particularly enjoyed the latter two dishes.Vegetarian options: Despite the limited selection of vegetarian dishes, their delicious flavors compel you to return for more.

Lunch menu. General Tso chicken. Sauce taste was good but the chicken was barely warm, as was the rice. And the egg roll was cold. Accompanied by the smallest bowl of soup I’ve ever had at a Chinese restaurant. But would say the soup tasted good. Just small. Mentioned this review to staff and they were totally indifferent. Went and bought a sandwich a few shops down and was disappointed enough I came back and showed them that I had to go and buy another lunch. Avoid. And $3 for a can of Diet Coke … seriously?

We had food delivered. It is by far the best we’ve had in this area. It was delicious and we will definitely be ordering again, and going to restaurant.

Even though I live two minutes away, this was my first visit. I thought the food was great. Not too salty. Kids also loved it. Very nice owners.

My first time to eat at the original Chef Chan on Woodlands Parkway at Indian Springs. I ordered the chicken fried rice and egg rolls for pickup. Ready on time. They were absolutely delicious and I’ve eaten a lot of Chinese food over the years but this is bar none. Cooked to perfection! Highly recommend. -

Have wanted to try this place FOREVER! We got take out for NYE tonight. Everything was absolutely spectacular…we tried egg rolls, shrimp toast crab puffs, fried dumplings, sweet & sour chicken, Chef Chan’s chicken, Chef Chan’s shrimp and house fried rice. The quality of the dishes was the first thing we noticed. It was far above most of the local neighborhood spots we get delivery from. The flavor was amazing. We truly loved everything (our favorite may be the Chef Chan’s shrimp but everything was REALLY good). It is 30 minutes from our house but worth every minute! Looking forward to next time.

Very salty. The hot and sour soup tasted salty, almost a burned flavor. My wife said it smelled like cat food. Chicken was tough, like old freezer chicken. Won’t go back and wouldn’t

We were craving Americanized Chinese take out and were completely underwhelmed by the food we tried. Orange chicken, beef and broccoli, Buddha's Delight, fried wings all bland. The upcharge for fried rice with your entree turned out to be for plain rice with soy sauce, no veggies or protein mixed in which is what we are used to at other establishments.

A mediocre Chinese dinner. I got the General Tso's chicken. The sauce was sweet and hardly spicy, and the cuts of chicken were tough and stringy, and hard at points. I don't see how this place gets such high reviews, or people were happy to see it return. For 20 dollars, I could have had better American Chinese options.

BEST CHINESE IN THE WOODLANDS!!! By FAR the best Chinese restaurant in the area. They are super clean, the food is always fresh and super tasty. They are polite, it doesn't take forever to get your order and just 10/10 100% recommend.
