My husband brought me here for my birthday. It was very romantic now to the flod.-My husband said his fettuccini was just alright. He doesnt usually fuss.-The shrimp scampi pasta is very bland mostly just parsley and olive oil.-Chilean seabass was DELICIOUSNow to the unfortunate part: I ordered the white chocolate breadpudding. Did not list nutmeg on the description. My husband tasted it but he was feeling sick and said he wasnt interested. I took one bite and IMMEDIATELY told our waitress i tasted nutmeg (im allergic and my throat swells). I recognized it right away and confirmed it sure was nutmeg. Obviously I wouldnt have ordered it if it said white chocolate with nutmeg. She said her manager said it could not be removed from our bill because it was "half eaten" which is literally impossible because my husband was sick and hardly ate his own food and only took a bite and I took one small bite and tasted the nutmeg and gave it back. For reference, it came in a square piece and still had the fruit and whipped cream on top and was NOT a rectangled or halved. Then the waitress said she already threw it away. Why toss it before the verdict? Could have given it to our kids then if they had an issue removing it. Also the waitress said that I was supposed to tell her im allergic to nutmeg. The white chocolate pudding did not have nutmeg ANYWHERE on the description otherwise I would have.Awful service to have on my birthday. Definitely would not recommend. Servers name was Gizelle. She also cried because we said we wont be tipping due to us paying for food we didnt eat. Waste of time. So sad because it was an almost "perfect night" loved the atmosphere. Oh wellDietary restrictions: They do not list all ingredients on the menu

My husband and I went there for Valentine's Day. The food was great and the drinks were even better. If you a chance stop by and get a lemon drop martini with Belvedere Vodka, your mouth will thank you. Management is very nice too.

Been here before and was great. Tonight we sat for a half hour without ever meeting a server. Never even got water. Watched 4 tables be sat after us and get drinks and we still didn't even have water. Good way to lose a regular. We left and went to Nina's and had food and drinks in under 5 minutes.

The food was very bland and overpriced. Things were undersalted and low quality. The Wellington is not Wellington; it is overcooked strips of beef on top of a burnt piece of puff pastry. The mashed potatoes have approximately 1 gram of cream and half their weight in garlic; one could form a throwable snowball of them if you wanted to with how thick they were. The butter for the bread was way too sweet and tasted more of icing. The salt we had to ask for was McCormick plastic grinders. The sirloin was okay. The interior decorating was good. Service was appropriate for our large group.

After a business trip to Fort Worth concluded, on the way back home to Austin, I decided to stay the night in Waco. While there, I enjoyed a delicious meal in this hidden gem, 1424 Bistro, fit for a romantic evening for any couple. The service was exceptional and timed perfectly. Anissa, the bartender was very professional with her recommendations, and I was immensely impressed by her knowledge of running any sector of a restaurant. My selections for the evening included several new special appetizers and a Chef's Special Entrée which paired perfectly with a Pinot Noir from 1424's new Wine Menu.I very much enjoyed the traditional Greek selections for appetizers which were the grape leaf wrapped Dolmades served with a delicious Tzatziki sauce and the Kasseri Cheese served flambé style at table. Also, I enjoyed several of the Fried cheese portions as a side. The Bone-in Pork chop was cooked perfectly and adequately balanced with the delicious serving of garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetable medley. For dessert, I enjoyed a Vanilla Crème Brûlée that was fired perfectly to form a crisp and sweetened crust and garnished deliciously with blueberries and strawberries. To finish, the bartender and owner got creative on the spot with a Tiramisu Martini and let me try this as it is a newly developed bar drink. The atmosphere was eclectic and definitely a vibe to be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates delicious food that is reasonably priced and expertly prepared with an attention to detail that was unexpected, but a delight to experience. Live music, as I understand, is an added bonus for an enjoyable night.I must say, I will be bringing my girlfriend back to this perfect spot for a lovely evening away from the big city.
I adore this unique atmosphere and incredible service. The Orange Vermouth Scallops are incredible and they have the best seafood in all of central Texas. Amazing and wine selection mixed with modern and vintage must-haves, this bistro is a regular for me!

1424 Bistro was the highlight of our Waco, TX trip. This is no fancy restaurant, but the food is some of the best that we have ever experienced. Waco is 6 hours from us, but 1424 was worth the drive. This is a do not miss meal whenever you are in the area.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Waco! Excellent service and amazingly flavorful food. A true Waco staple and one of Waco best kept secrets for sure. Started with Escargot, flaming cheese and seared scallops in a shell, all were amazing. Several cocktails and then on to wine with our meals. Sea bass, orange roughy, beef tenderloin, chicken piccata and other dishes. I was so pleased as a host that all my guest raved about how good the food, drinks and service was. Finished off with dessert and it was perfect.

How it started….and how it ended! The food was so Incredible we got lost in the flavors and forgot to take any pictures of it! We’ve lived in Waco 8 years and have no idea why we never have come here. We came to celebrate my wife’s birthday and 1424 Bistro did not disappoint!!!What we ordered:Caesar Salad (don’t think I’ve had better)Chicken PiccataSeafood CurryFrench Silk (dessert)Limoncello ProseccoBalcones Texas Single MaltService was timely and incredible! Atmosphere is upscale but not too snooty! A truly come as you are type of place. Some guest in there were dressed up and some very casual.A wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion or just treat yourself to a great dining experience in the heart of Texas! We will be back!!
