That butter pecan ice cream on a comb was very good and it had plenty of pecans in it. The only thing I didn’t like was I had to wait 30 to 40 minutes to get the ice cream.

I’ve never written a review before, but my experience at Katie’s Custard in Waco was frustrating enough that I felt like I needed to speak up.
First off, we had to wait over three minutes in the scorching Texas heat after ringing the bell for outdoor service—meanwhile, the staff prioritized the drive-thru. I understand drive-thru times matter, but customers standing outside shouldn’t be ignored.
Then there’s the pricing, which is way off from what’s listed online. The online menu is much cheaper, and it hasn’t been updated, which feels really misleading. On top of that, the portions were tiny—shockingly small for the price. If I had known how small they were, I wouldn’t have ordered.
My boyfriend ordered a sundae and asked for a medium but got a small instead. The woman at the register kept asking if he wanted liquid fudge and whipped cream—never disclosing that those were an extra $2. He assumed they were just clarifying what came with the sundae. His total went from $9 to $11 for a small. Mine was nearly $8 for a small as well.
We ended up paying almost $18 total for two tiny desserts, and honestly, it was just not worth it. This place price gouges like crazy, and the lack of transparency was the most frustrating part. It felt like they were just trying to upsell without being honest about it.
I won’t be back. There are better dessert spots in Waco that actually give you fair portions and honest service.
I’d give it 0 stars if I could. Even Andy’s is cheaper than this and you get twice the amount. Didn’t even get our order right. Wish we could get refunded.

A Wacoan favorite. I have to go every time I come back to Waco. Highly recommend the Texas Turtle - with hot fudge, pecans, and caramel, it's hard to beat! Otherwise, I highly recommend the Dirt & Worms swirl for all the kids or kids-at-heart.
Me and my husband stopped here today and got some ice cream which was pretty good and the worker that helped us was nice but our issue we had was there was no restroom. We asked and she told us they had no public restrooms. Me and my husband wanted to sit outside since it was a nice day but since they had no restroom we just decided to eat it at home. If a place has outdoor seating you would think they would have a restroom.

Great flavor options with many seasonal flavors. Outdoor seating fast service. Although the focus of the restaurant is their custard there are hotdogs and frito pie.

Katie's is a great place in and out. Great management, Great employees, great customers but most importantly great owners. I was the store manager here. Worked for them for 8 years and loved it. The bosses care for their employees which I rarely ever see in alot of workplaces. I'm going to miss interacting with my regular customers, miss having fun with the employees and having Katie's Custard. It's a great place to work so if you are looking. You don't see bosses caring about their employees in a lot of places especially managers. Alot of managers forget where they started and let power get to their head but not at Katie's. I wish so many more great years for Katie's frozen custard. Thank you Katie's for everything
