Good for the atmosphere. Food was terrible. Everything minus the water was overly salted. And they serve you micro portions and expect you to share. You are better off going anywhere else where you aren't eating a snack and a box of salt. Wouldn't return. You will leave hungry.

The prices of the food did not reflect the experience we received. While the prices on some dishes seemed good, the portions were small and underwhelming. We tried a variety of dishes, and they were all mediocre. Atmosphere was nice and service was fine. I have definitely had better quality food for the prices.

We had the Chef’s Table for our engagement dinner and it was wonderful and well worth it!! Felt like we were at a classy and romantic spot in a big city but it was in Waco!! Thanks to Graham and the whole staff for the hospitality and great service. Would come back again for a special occasion!

A friend chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner. I absolutely loved the place! The ambiance is fantastic! It's really classy and beautiful inside. I love the curved booths. The centerpiece bar is amazing. In the back, they have a new setup for an oyster bar?
The birthday girl got a complimentary glass of prosecco! Our waiter was very friendly and admittedly not a sommelier, although he made some recommendations. I took his recommendation and ordered the paperback romance cocktail. It's so good!!!
The menu is a little different than most restaurant menus. It is built to have sharable tapas dishes, and then you can pick your main entrée. Everyone picked different items. The guys were disappointed in the portion sizes, so keep that in mind, not the typical massive serving portions. This is much more of a European style portion size. They describe it as Mediterranean, but I would consider it more of an eclectic menu. There are a couple of very Mediterranean foods like the kofta and hummus and the chicken skewers, but there are also Italian influenced dishes like the foccacia and the cacio e pepe (both dishes were incredible and I highly recommend). The pork ribs are a little more American, and I would say if you're looking for a larger portion of food, it's huge and filling. If you don't like smokey foods, I would not recommend the chicken skewers or the kofta, but I personally liked it.
The desserts offered all sound very good. Birthday girl picked the chocolate mousse with huckleberry. It was so good! It's perfectly sweet and a smooth texture. I would absolutely order it again!
Overall it's a more expensive restaurant, but the quality of the food, the experience and location is worth it. I would HIGHLY recommend for a date night, especially on a Wednesday or Thursday when they have a pianist playing on the babygrand piano in the center of the dining area!
I will definitely be back! This is the perfect spot for a romantic date night!

The coolest thing about this place is the atmosphere - as we were sitting down we thought it was pretty amazing how the interior was designed to make a huge open room, not seem like a huge open room but have an eclectic flow that is inviting and unique. Service was good, we didn't have to wait long for any item. Waitstaff uniforms are kind of like hotel bellhops in snazzy pajamas, I think that is funky/cool! We enjoyed the chips & dip, lamb kafta hummus, confit potatoes, and pork ribs. Everything was good, but the pork ribs were a miss for us.. the flavor was odd and the meat was chewy. We will be back!

We loved the Red Herring! Such a unique dining experience in everything from the atmosphere to the food. The space is very eclectic inside and on the outside it is very unique due to its shipping container design. The food is incredible and we loved the idea of ordering several small plates to share at the table. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I shared our 1 year wedding anniversary with the staff at red herring. We came from burleson tx to experience this highly recommended restaurant from friends and family. What a wonderful experience we were given! The food was 5 star, the service was 5 star, and the atmosphere another 5 star! The waitress we had told us what her favorites were so who knows better than the people who work there, and she didn’t let us down at all. The chefs table is where we reserved our dinner spot and the location was fun and entertaining. Every member had a role in serving and in removing the empty plates. You can tell this restaurant has instilled teamwork with the staff. I could go on and on, but don’t take my word for it, go in and enjoy for yourself. We may make this our annual anniversary spot for celebrating. It’s just that good.

We went in around 5:00 on a Monday, they had just opened so we were the only table and were immediately seated. Their menu is a Tapas Style menu with items meant to be eaten by the entire group, the items are small so you’re supposed to order ~2 items per person. The total came out to ~45 per person I think we ordered a total of 11 items for the five os us that went. Their starters and sides were way better than their mains. I would highly recommend their breads, salads, and oysters!

As someone who orders the wagu from the best wagu restaurants across Texas I must say the wagu served last night was below par. Everything else was amazing. I still highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely loved it! We will be back. Our waiter Case was very friendly and knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Everything we ate was delicious! We ordered the focaccia bread, confit potatoes, the ribs and Italian sausage and pasta and for dessert we orders the apple tart Tini . For drinks we got the old fashioned and paperback romance. Very good. Waco native, we definitely needed a place like this!
