We stopped in on a whim, and so glad we did!The hostess mentioned they're doing a soft open, but would not have guessed - food and service was on-point, and everything on the menu was available (can't speak for the reviewer below me who came to a Cajun restaurant for beer ?♀️).The roast beef po'boy was HUGE and so good - I'm not usually a sandwich person but my boyfriend ordered it and I ended up stealing half.Also got the crab corn chowder on the hostess' recommendation and it was super tasty. Coleslaw and the red beans and rice were large portions for being sides, and everything felt very fresh. We will be back!

Just tried them for the first time after they reopened and it was very good. The shrimp basket was as good as I’ve ever had anywhere. The prices are reasonable, the service was great and the atmosphere was really nice. We will definitely be back.

Same folks that have JJ’s on the other side of town (also excellent). Noting this because they know food! JJ’s is called a sports bar but for a foodie they have consistently great food, regular Epicurious specials, and it is always incredibly fresh…super fresh and perfectly prepared…not your typical “sports bar”.I missed trying their papa toms before it closed in Covid. I did not even know they were open again ended up popping in with my family on one of their few days back open. Absolutely spectacular and to no surprise incredibly well prepared and fresh!Added bonus is the staff. Owners, managers, and servers…dozens and dozens of total dining experiences and never a bad one with this group.Kid-friendliness: Chicken tenders some of the best which the kids love and I always finish.

I took my daughter and her family to Papa Toms last night. All 4 of us ordered something different so we could share. The crab cakes were excellent and actually have wonderful “chunks” of crabmeat in them. The Poblano chicken was absolutely amazing. The shrimp and crawfish etouffee was the best I have ever ever tasted. The shrimp and sausage pasta was truly out of this world. Our sides were asparagus, French fries, red beans and rice (super delicious) and jalapeño hush puppies. Papa Tom and his lovely wife brought our food to the table. Super friendly folks. Actually everyone, the entire staff are friendly and fun. If you haven’t been to Papa Toms you missing out on a fantastic culinary experience. If you are lucky you will have a super cute and fun waiter by the name of Steve. Soooo … fly your Cajun flag and visit Papa Tom’s Cajun Persuasion. You will not be disappointed.

I had the fried catfish Po’ boy and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. The sandwich was much larger than I was expecting (which was good because I was very hungry.) The homemade breading on the catfish was light, crispy, and had an excellent flavor. The French fries had very tasty Cajun flavor and the sweet tea was fresh. I will definitely be going back!

While traveling we came across this place lucky us. Very friendly staff, the decor was cute staying with a Cajun theme. We had a hot crab crawfish dip with toast points as an appetizer delicious we also had a cup of gumbo that was amazing. The prices were good and I can't say enough about the staff, I also met one of the owners also super friendly. The next time I head down south I will reroute myself so I can go back I would give this establishment the rating of 10/10

My first night in the area, we headed here for dinner. I've rarely eat cajun, having never been to NOLA and was excited to see what offerings they had. My friends love eating here and had some great suggestions for dinner. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were topped with a ragout of crawfish and corn, plus green onions and Stella blue cheese. They were amazing. We also started with the Boudin Balls; perfectly crisp on the outside, they were delightfully rich; the inside sausage and breadcrumbs mixture was tender and flavorful. I got the PoBoy with blackened catfish, melted cheese and a side of fries. It was very good. My one friend got the shrimp PoBoy and the other got the Creole Sauté, "fresh shrimp, crawfish, Andouille sausage, peppers, tomatoes, and onions in a spicy creole sauce over steamed rice." We ordered the beignets for dessert. The server said that the first batch they initially made for us didn't puff up properly, so the chef made us up a new plate before sending it to the table. The owner is the bartender and he makes phenomenal cocktails. My hurricane was spot on. He also came to every table to make sure everyone's meal was as they liked it. The service was excellent, too. I see why my friends love this place. Affordable and fun. An overall great experience.

In town for business and decided to try this restaurant because it was nearby and looked interesting. Josh behind the bar suggested the seafood pot pie but said it might take 20- 25 minutes or so since they make it up per serving. So pleased I tried it and was definitely worth the wait.Excellent flavor, crispy baked crust. Very generous portion. Excellent serviceI'll be back!!
