I highly recommend the mushroom marmalade soup and the chicken salad sandwich. Both were very tasty. The atmosphere was quaint, loved the historic feel to the building and dining areas.

If you've ever been to Abingdon, VA, you'll know that there aren't many upper class restaurants to have business meetings for lunch. The Peppermill just happens to be one of the few in the eclectic and historic neighborhood. To that point, the restaurant is a converted 2 story house. The dinning rooms upstairs are literally the guest rooms. Hardwood floors throughout, it looks like a house right out of a movie - great atmosphere.I happened to have the Blue Cheese French Onion soup - VERY UNIQUE. I've honestly never had this combination before, but it works! Now be warned, the strong blue cheese and french onion may not work for everyone, but I happen to love blue cheese, and I love french onion soup, so it works for me.I had the Caesar salad. you had the pick of protein and i picked the steak medallions medium rare. Truly delectable, juicy, and very tender cut. it's the perfect balance of trying to eat healthy and indulging in steak for lunch at the same time. When you first arrive, the hostess will ask you if you are going to see a "show" also. the restaurant is associated with the very small movie theater and they may prioritize your service based on your showtime. Good option for entertainment if you're in town for "dinner and a show". I was here on biz for lunch, so no show for us.

Excellent service and food. Prices are midlevel high. Very nice decor as it is in an old Abingdon home. Two floors of eating space. They won't take reservations unless you have 6 or more people. Seldom have to wait long for a table for 2. New items on the menu.Features: No masks or temp.checks. No social distancing. Parking is a little scare, but usually can find a place on the street near the enterance.Vegetarian options: You can get vegetarian food but not vegan food.Parking: During the week street is good from 5 to 6. Some Spaces next to building. Weekend street is easier parking in the eveningsWheelchair accessibility: There is a long ramp on the left side of the building.

What a unique and antique place to dine. This was my second time here, and we really enjoyed it. Reasonable prices for good fare.

Got there at 4:30 when the place was mostly empty. Sat at 4:40. Ordered a burger (medium), chicken tenders and a kids quesadilla. I'm 6'5" and couldn't fit at the table at all. It was miserable.Didn't see our server again until half an hour later who refilled our waters that had been empty for at least 15 minutes. An after we had been sat, we STILL hadn't received our very basic order. We got up to leave right as they finally brought it. We took it to go because we were tired of waiting.Went to our vehicle to turn on a DVD in our van because our 3 year old was grumpy. The fries were soggy. The burger came out very well done and was very average. The quesadilla was floppy and soggy. It just... Wasn't worth it. It cost $48 for a very memorable (in a bad way) experience.I want to stress that everyone was polite and friendly. Maybe they were understaffed, but if so, they need to let their customers when they walk in the door to temper expectations. We won't be back.

We waited over an hour for food that shouldn't have taken 15 minutes to cook. Tables are uncomfortable and if you are taller than 5'6, then you will have a hard time fitting at the table.

This was such a unique dining experience! The restaurant is a house where rooms have been turned into dining areas & there is a bar outside. Even the bathroom was decorated which was super unique. I loved the creativity & decor. Super unique!
