My wife and I had been here for dinner. My son whom recently became engaged and his fiance , along with her parents we're going here to see if this is someplace that we would like to hold they're engagement party. I spoke to the manager 2 weeks prior to make reservations she assured me that everything would go well, shr also said she would send me a menu and give me some general pricing which never arrived. Upon arrival my son's future in-laws were already sitting at the bar and had been there for some time. They informed me that there was only one waiter at the restaurant that evening and it was rather busy. Now getting these people to agree to have any type of party that didn't include a barbecue and whiskey was going to be difficult enough but what occured was unexcusable. My son arrived at the restaurant with his fiance about the same time as I did and my wife. Gerard the waiter a pleasant man who was the only waiter that evening and had at least nine tables with multiple guests He was apologetic but determined that everything would be fine He took our drink orders and after about 5 minutes my son's in-laws were becoming impatient but after 30 I had to agree and they got up and left the restaurant I was embarrassed and quite humiliated by the experience and just quietly left the restaurant as well. I reached out to management let them know that they set Gerard up to fail and that it was unbelievable that them knowing two weeks in advance that I was coming in there and was going to be spending quite a bit of money not only on this dinner but also the possibility of spending several thousands on the engagement party. No response no apology no updates now the food there the times my wife and I were there was pretty good The atmosphere as far as the aesthetics of the building it's pretty exceptional but I would have to say the owners and the management of this restaurant care so little about their customers that they understaffed the establishment to the point of their own demise and to the disappointment of their clientele.I would say of the multiple restaurants down in the Old Town Alexandria area there's got to be at least 25 where the food is as good if not better and probably every one of them has better service because management sets their people up for failure and sets their clients up for a long long evening.

We had dinner tonight at Bistro Sancerre and it was a culinary masterpiece. Our server Jarrod was attentive and engaging. We ordered the escargot as an appetizer - it was buttery garlic goodness. For mains we ordered the steak frite (ribeye) and the duck. Both were cooked to perfection. The French fries were addictive and the seeet potato puree was velvety. They have a good wine selection by the glass. It’s a short walk from King St metro. It was a perfect impromptu date night and cannot wait to go back!

My wife and I had a delightful evening at Bistro Sancerre. The ambiance of the restaurant set a perfect tone for our dinner, creating an inviting and warm atmosphere. Each dish we ordered was not only delicious but also artfully presented, demonstrating the chef's attention to detail. The wine pairing recommended by our server complemented our entrées flawlessly, enhancing the flavors of our meal beautifully. Additionally, the service was impeccable; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations, contributing significantly to our overall enjoyment. We left Bistro Sancerre thoroughly impressed and are already looking forward to our next visit.

After being seated and taking our order we did not receive our food for over an hour. About 30 minutes into our wait our waiter “noticed” that they forgot to submit our order to the kitchen. In addition to the relatively long wait for food, we also had a significant wait for the drink we ordered. Even though we made a reservation we were still seated close to the front door, making it noisy and feel like everyone could hear our conversation. To top it all off when it came time for the check, not only was there no acknowledgement of our absurd wait, but we were double charged for our entrées and I had to correct the waiter. Over all the food was O.K., nothing was necessarily wrong with our orders, but it certainly was not worth the wait or the price. Overall I do not think I will be coming back.

Our dining experience was excellent. The only issue, and it was totally our fault, was that we didn't advise our server at the beginning of the evening that we had symphony tickets. Be prepared to spend the evening in enjoyable conversation without feeling rushed to turn over the table. Our server was friendly and engaged in conversations with us. We were treated as though we were the only guests in the restaurant. The meals were reasonably priced, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We had the mushroom strudel as a starter and steak frites, lamb shank, scallops, and duck breast as our mains. The apple financier & apple tart with butter pecan ice cream was wonderful!

Some really great and not so great aspects to dinner. The starter we ordered was the Wellington tart and this was the highlight of the meal. Even with some parts of the pastry a little tough. The lamb shank was really really good also. My husband ordered the duck and while the flavor was good it had a good bit of unrendered fat and zero crispy skin. I recommend the all French wine flight as it had a nice wine trio and went well with the tart and lamb meal. The lava cake was dry and had no lava and the ice cream was full of ice. The service we had was good however it felt like there were not enough service people to assist all the guests in a timely fashion. There was no bartender. I was served a food I was allergic to luckily I caught it. The atmosphere was great the server we had was very nice hopefully they can hire some additional help. The food should be a bit more spot on for the price and was not consistently executed correctly.

Can’t say enough about the incredible food and service. The staff and bites were amazing. And excellent cocktails, wine, and desserts.

At the last minute we decided to eat out for our anniversary. My husband researched menus for nearby restaurants, narrowed it down to two, and I chose Bistro. Fortunately it was an “off” night so we had no trouble getting a reservation. Staff was perfect, from the maitre'd giving me directions from the garage, to the server who guided me to the right wine, to the serving assistant who kept our water glasses full and dishes cleared. Thank you Vitty, Kelly, and Munajj!) (forgive me if I got the names wrong!) We had a lovely evening, a delicious meal and a very happy anniversary! The food was excellent and we are already planning to return. The space is equally amazing, with artwork displayed throughout. We simply loved it.

We dined for Christmas Eve, our server was unable to provide service. Her colleague stepped in and saved the meal by doing her job for her. We have emailed the restaurant and received a reply that the issue has been resolved. It's unfortunate, because when we did get the food...it was good. Just not worth the distracted meal we hoped to enjoy with friends.

The food and ambiance is excellent. The service was less effective: I had to go to the bar after about ten minutes to order our first glass of wine. Once things got going, the service improved.

If you want a good, quiet meal and great service, this is the place. We each had a specialty cocktail, salads, entrees and a shared dessert. Highlights were the beet salad, lamb shank and apple tart, but everything was delicious. The women serving us were friendly and efficient. This is located in a quiet part of town so it wasn't busy which made conversation easy. The fireplace added ambiance.

It’s so sad to see this place go so far down hill. From uncaring staff to dirty silverware to undercooked chicken. Do not spend your money here or at grand cru (sister restaurant) I guess it all started with Pablo and Natalia leaving. However, I’m definitely not surprised-the owner Leena/Lena (however youspell it) was by far one of the rudest and disrespectful people I have ever met in the service industry and in life-which I have been a sommelier in for over 10 years. It’s clear that she does not care about her Customers and even less about her staff. But I guess when you have disposable income, you can care less about the quality of service/product!or the way you treat people… Pay attention to the red flags before you think about spending a dime here. The biggest one is, a restaurant located in old town Alexandria steps away from the metro that has 0 guest during the evening hours. Even on a busy night, the max I’ve seen was 15 people on a Friday in a restaurant that could easily fit 80-100 people. Overall, the owner really needs to get out of the business. It’s definitely not for you!! They’re way too many options with better food, wine list (which 90% of the wines are never available here) and most of all, better customer service and owners who don’t micromanage their staff (yes, your customer are aware that you watch the cameras and call whenever a charged gets reversed) Otherwise, she can care less about your experience. The food is continually inconsistent, the staff turnover rate has to be the highest one I’ve even seen. This is just a place that doesn’t deserve anyone’s hard earned money. Please note the this location and Grand Cru are owned by the same personI hope this helps yalPeace

My husband and I dined there on Sunday. It was very quiet; there were only five or so other tables occupied. Service was excellent. We started with the bread basket, a salad (shared), and the lobster fritters. I had the mushroom orzo; he had the duck. The food was excellent, as was the service. Highly recommend!

The staff was wonderful, everyone was so kind. The food was delicious and brought at a great pace to us. They were always making sure we had anything we needed. There were some technical issues they had with their system and they continued to do everything well. Highly recommend!
