Service was friendly and fast. The potstickers w the aioli were so good. The ribeye steak and cheese was delightful. Had tons of flavor. I had a side salad w it that had a balsamic vinaigrette which was refreshing. Definitely hit this place up for some good food.

We had a lovely dinner with great food and service. Our server was wonderful and his love for his craft made our dinner that much more enjoyable. The other staff we interacted with also seemed to love working at Mackie’s. These interactions made this an especially memorable dinner.

First time here. Had the Phoenix wings, cooked to crispy perfection. Great flavor and a super kick...BEWARE if you can't handle heat. It was Monday and they had half off of their dry aged burger, perfect time to try if it's your first time. Burger was solid, not too flavorful, but not bad either...it was IN THE GROOVE. Bartender (CHARLES) made great drinks and was attentive, there were a few Regulars there but he didn't leave me hanging. This will definitely be one of my new weekly spots.

My filet was wonderful. One of the best steaks in the area. I haven't been in a while but will be coming back more often. Bartender was also very nice and helpful.

The wife and I had dinner here last night and the place was blissfully empty. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. I had the crab cakes and chicken Marsalas, and my wife had the filet. The crab cakes were awesome and had a nice spicy heat without being. "Oh dear God my mouth is on fire." My wife's filet was cooked to temperature and she said it tasted great. The Chicken Marsalas while flavorful was slightly overcooked and some of the breading was burnt black. Overall great experience.

Adequate food with pleasant outdoor seating. I've never eaten inside. Potstickers aren't very good - doughy and not much flavor. Odd sauces accompany them. Burgers are fine, eggs and omelettes are middle of the road. Service can be good, or not. I'm sure a lot of the uneven dining experiences I've had are pandemic related - every business is struggling to find competent staff, so I will give Mackie's another try one day.

Service was great, the appetizers were fantastic. The main course took a while to come out and the fries were cold by the time it did. They quickly remedied this so we weren't eating fries after we finished the rest of the meal. We didn't feel rushed to leave and were able to enjoy the warm evening.

Gonna keep this simple - great bar and grill! The buffalo wings were EXCELLENT! Sauce had a nice kick, wings were big, and most important CRISPY! (I HAAAAAATE smooshy wings!!) The shaved ribeye steak sandwiches were tasty! (Loved the Bugagi!!) Drink selection is excellent! Service was friendly and attentive! Would easily go again!

Enjoyed the Mackie's ale while seated outside taking in all of the sights and sounds of King Street. Our server was fantastic and we started with the Phoenix wings, which were awesome. A really nice spice and heat and the wings were cooked and sauced really well. I had their dry-aged burger for my entrée and it was delicious. They cooked it well and the toasted roll and sautéed mushrooms and onions were perfect toppings to go along with the aged white cheddar. Several other items on the menu looked and sounded great, so I would definitely recommend this place and I look forward to coming back.

We were served by a lovely man who took great care of us. I got a steak that was cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. I didn’t love the mac and cheese; it needed some seasoning. My partner got the original burger and it was perfect and the fries were perfect as was the ketchup. Perfect area, nice indoor seating!

It was our first and last visit. Not what we expected. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with our children but this was more like a dark sports bar with four customers in it, that appeared to be regulars. Our server wrote our order down and still got my wife's order wrong, twice, and made it sound like it was her fault. He bought out the food in the order that it was ordered. So the the wings came out before the salads. Hmmm? The food was good, the server apologized, but we will not be returning. There are much better restaurants in Alexandria

We went for a late dinner on a Sunday night. Everyone was very nice; overall it was a great experience. They were out of the grilled octopus appetizer that we wanted, but their tuna tartare that we got instead was actually exceptionally good. I then had the fish sandwich with fries. The sandwich was decent but not something I would go back for. The fries were not really seasoned well. I'm giving 4 stars because of the great service and fantastic appetizer.

Great Bar with a love for good food. Mackie's delivers on quality food and beverages. Cocktails are well crafted, even more so when the St. Patrick's Day crowd calmed down. This is my second time dining, they have great wings, dry-aged burgers, caprese bites, and more. Do yourself a favor and try them out.

Easily the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in Old Town.My Dad is in town and said he fancied steak and fries for dinner. I searched for a place that would be wheelchair accessible and when I rang Mackies the person I got on the phone that afternoon was super helpful, they said we could come round the back entrance I’d just need to call when I was nearby. Then they phoned me back a couple of hours later and it was a second helpful person telling me they were all set up for us to come round the back door later on. So it all started off well, and we were looking forward to going having not been before. When we arrived later that evening around the back (naturally not a nice area full of trash cans and no lighting but that’s the harsh reality of being wheelchair bound in a lot of places) I gave them a call and when they answered I said “hi we have a reservation but my Dads in a wheelchair and we were told to come to the back door, could someone let us in?” The person replied “yes” and the call ended. A little disconcerting but we stood and waited, and no one came. So I called back and said “hi, we’re around the back” and before I could say anymore they said “no”. I assumed they couldn’t hear me so I repeated what I was trying to say and they just kept saying “no” and at one point even put me on hold and left me like that for about 5 minutes. At this point I was getting very frustrated stood in the dark in an alleyway for no reason when a more helpful man came on the phone and let us in. Already not enamoured by the experience we headed in to the restaurant only to find cockroaches crawling along the booths. There were either 2 or there was one really fast guy running from place to place. We have never exited a place faster in our lives. I actually regretted not letting the other diners know as it was one long booth that spans the back of the restaurant but we were in such a panic to leave and get my Dad reversed out of there that we just left and found somewhere else nearby that was super clean, friendly and helpful. (The Rub if anyone is wondering). Anyway, avoid this place like the literal plague.

The food was great and fresh. The service was excellent. Very attentive without hovering. Since it was our first visit, we were allowed a little extra time to peruse the menu. There were so many great selections that we will definitely be back.
