Simply spectacular. We sat at the bar. The carbonara was the best we ever had. We came in contact with 5 staff members that were warm, friendly and professional. We watch them prepare the best mixed drinks that were made with full to the brim shots. We couldn't have asked for a better evening of dining.

If someone asks me my favorite restaurants in Charlottesville, Tavola always gets a mention. You'll find excellent cocktails at the bar, which traces its pedigree from Alley Light to other talents who have left their mark. The pasta is classic, atmosphere in the main dining room is close and energetic (but you can find intimacy), and the service is impeccable. When in doubt, always order the artichokes or burrata.

It's my first time eating here, and the food is fantastic! I had the beet salad with deep-fried mozzarella ball, then a shrimp and pasta dish finished with the Chocolate Lava cake. The servers were very friendly, we had a group of 5, and everything came out quickly and hot! Great for date nights and business dinners.

Yesterday, Tavola became one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. In fact, if I could have one last meal on earth, I would eat exactly what I ordered last night - trio di bruschetta, caramelle "fatto a mano," and hazelnut tart. This has been the most perfect and balanced meal I can remember having in a while (and I eat out a lot). All ingredients tasted incredibly fresh and the flavor profiles a masterpiece. Kudos to the staff and chef who made this dinner memorable. I can't wait to be back in Charlottesville and sit at the chefs counter at Tavola.

We've always loved dining at Tavola, and even though it's had some hiccups since the pandemic (who hasn't?!), we dined last night and it was as good of a meal and experience as we've ever had. It really feels like the best example of Italian fine dining that we have here in Charlottesville!

They service is just below normal … nothing special. They find taxes to pend on you re billing and charge a 20 percent tip for the bar .. never in a hurry and below average in my book.

It's a great place with great food. One thing to consider - if you're used to eating Italian food in Italy, please do not expect the same here. I would describe Tavola as a decent place for Americanized Italian food. Service is good, and the vibe in their larger room is really family-like, created by a long dining table. From disadvantages, I think it's a bit overpriced.

Best eggplant parm I've ever had. Cocktails great too. Only downside is that it gets very loud sometimes.

Charging a 20% gratuity is understandable but not when you provide subpar service …

The parking is terrible! There is no parking. Typical Charlottesville mentality of " let's open a restaurant but not provide parking for our customers".

If you don't have a reservation expect to be treated poorly. The food is good and the atmosphere feels very hipster. Waitstaff was great but the host was a jerk.

Fantastic! Such an awesome Italian restaurant. The vibe, the staff, the wine selection, they're fresh pasta dishes, and everything about the place is perfect. Highly recommend!

Be very careful. I’ve booked months in advance and twice now they’ve stuck us in the bar area. Apparently you need to carefully select your table and note that back dining room is the cold, drafty bar area and not the ambience of the dining room with the kitchen and aromas of the great food. First several times we had the main dining room. Last few times they’ve duped us into the bar area. It is not the same experience even if it’s the same food. If you want to eat at the bar, just walk in, no need for months ahead booking. Hostess staff completely unsympathetic or helpful. But wait staff is amazing.Parking: Really only a few street parking spaces nearby. Always packed. So plan to drive around a bit and walk a distance for parking. No lot for the restaurant.
