We enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant a while back. Our server recommended food and wine, and we enjoyed the quality and taste of our dishes. The service was decent, as was the atmosphere of the place, and it was within walking distance from where we stayed.

Had dinner there at the bar on St. Patrick's Day. The meal was better than the meal I had at the Four Seasons in Washington, DC two days earlier (other than the French fries, Four Seaons fries were better). Justin was behind the bar that night. He was extremely helpful in describing the menu items and draft beers. He helped my daughter customize her pasta dish to her liking. Justin really made the evening for my daughter and me. Thanks. FYI the Basic City Bask IPA was great, as was the after dinner coffee.
We ate at The Local last night, and it did not disappoint. Had the fried chicken and short ribs. These days it seems that eating out is a disappointment, but The Local changed all of that. Not only was the food outstanding but the service, including the manager, Jeff was remarkable. He made fantastic wine recommendations that were spot on. Fantastic restaurant we will definitely bake it back to.

Do yourself a favor - go to The Local for dinner asap. Our meals (short ribs, pork chop and shrimp appetizer) were cooked beautifully and served promptly. We made some special requests that were graciously accommodated. Our food was full of flavor and served piping hot.I'd be remiss if I didn't mention our server Justin. He was charming, informative and attentive without hovering. He asked right away if either of us were avoiding any ingredients. We explained that my husband is allergic to shellfish. It was so nice having a server ask that question up front. His recommendations were spot-on.The next time we visit Charlottesville, we'll definitely return to The Local.

The Local catered our wedding years ago and whenever we're in town we make a point to eat here. The Gnocchi Bolognese is the only thing I ever get because it is always so delicious - melt in your mouth gnocchi and amazing bolognese sauce. I have never been disappointed.

Meatloaf was excellent!

This restaurant was good. The cheese plate was a ton of grapes, apple slices and five portions of cheese with crackers. It needed a bit more crackers. The pot roast was mostly good...there were a few chunks of fat though. The cheeseburger was average and steak frites were good. Lemonade was not good. Had to ask for refills on water a couple of times.
We were greeted and seated promptly. The front room is small but very attractive. The server was friendly but we felt rushed. The food I received was cold. The meatloaf was hard and covered in Avery vinegary barbecue sauce. The potatoes and green. Rams under it were fine but nothing special. My husband's southern fried chicken was covered with a very vinegary hot sauce. The collard greens were drenched in vinegar. And this sauce covered the macaroni and cheese on the bottom of the plate. The greeter asked if we wanted boxes to go. When we said no thanks he said okay and whisked away our plates. The server immediately brought our check. We paid and left. No one asked us about a second drink or dessert or why we left most of our dinner. Very disappointing.

I’d be willing to give this place another try but my first time was underwhelming. Kind of felt like an unwanted guest the second I walked in and the ribeye I had tasted burned and overcooked. The one positive is that my wife enjoyed the fried oysters but otherwise was not impressed. This place has potential but not worth the $100 we spent on dinner and drinks.

Always a favorite dinner restaurant. This time was exceptional! Brussel sprouts and cauliflower appetizer super tasty. Caesar salad and house salad excellent. Entrees of Beef tenderloin, short ribs and cod all delicious and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was very attentive and food was served very timely. A great dinner. Definitely will be back.

Fried Chicken is not my go to meal, but it was truly so juicy and delicious! Was falling off the bone! Cocktails were also tasty! Service was good and fast, but almost too fast, we felt a little bit rushed out. Overall good dinner experience.
