201 Mill St # B, Farmville
First and only time visiting this restaurant. Food was mediocre, but the waiter was horrible. Could not remember our order, forgot to bring what we asked for, twice, and even brought the WRONG salad. Could never bring myself to recommend this restaurant or visit again. More training is needed for staff, at the least.
incredible food, great atmosphere, and wonderful employees
The 'only' place to eat in Farmville. Love to be outside. The menu has just enough choices. The service is as expected. Food is good. I'm not a local but this is the place I go whenever I'm in town for the day.
Moderately priced and solid food, relaxed environment and good service. I was in town for the night and found this place. We were seated promptly in a relatively private spot. We enjoyed hearing the live music from the adjacent room without drowning out our own conversation. We all enjoyed are meals, street tacos, hamburger, Cuban sandwich and grilled ham and cheese. The beer and wine list had something for every one. We left room for the satisfying pecan ice cream dessert. Our waitress was knowledgable and attentive.
Great experience! Excellent atmosphere, food and the service could not have been better. ?Merry Christmas ? instead of ?Happy Holidays? was most refreshing!!!
4th or 5th visit over past 2-3 years. Good setting inside or out. Good menu options well prepared. Good service. Make sure you check out the rug store directly across the street. HUGE selection!
Expansive place with choices of where to eat or drink, and occasionally goats they have outdoors to entertain you. Good staff. Highly recommended if visiting Farmville (and you should - what a great town) either before or after your trail ride to High Bridge
Got the chicken sandwich without the bread. The order took over 20 minutes to make. It was a bit salty. Points for amazing crispy and crunchy fries. Best part of the meal. Disappointing that the food took so long that it made me late. Finished the food in 5 minutes and left.
We drove from Richmond to Charley?s for an early dinner for my husband?s birthday. The food and service was great. I had the filet which you could almost cut with a fork - it melted in your mouth. My husband had the ribs which he loved - so many he brought some home. We had red velvet cheesecake for desert - it is to die for. No doubt, we will go again.
French onion soup was good! Was not happy with the service! Outside deck was nice but you need to post that the deck IS a smoking area so that others know the probably will be smokers out there!
Looking for a good place to eat this is your place. Good selections and good service too. You will like the atmosphere too!
Waited close to 40 min for our food (2 cheeseburgers, a kids pasta and grilled cheese) in a near empty restaurant. Food was lacking taste. This was our second time at Charley's and it seems to decline - probably won't be back which is sad because it's a great location with so much potential to be great.
Food is good, especially she crab soup. The outside seating is plentiful,it overlooks the river. The servers are friendly.Lunchtime is usually busy
Went here after a morning of wedding dress shopping with a group of friends. They did not have any mint to make me a mojito which made me sad, but it wasn't on the menu so it wasn't their fault. They were able to substitute carrots and celery with the crab dip, because two of us were gluten free. They were able to put a gluten free bun on my sandwich, but it wasn't marked on the menu, so I almost missed the opportunity if my waitress hadn't said anything. Cute place right on the water!
Excellent for and atmosphere. Some of the best dressings and salads I have ever had and they have an excellent wine choice.
Deck is very scenic and relaxing. The stream is clean and beautiful. Seared scallops was very delicious. Food was fast and service was great. Live band was playing beatles songs. I can't wait to come back here.
The food and atmosphere was great. Deserts was great. I gave it 4 stars for now because of the service. The seafood soup was cold and it took a while for our waiter to come back and fix the problem; and we had to ask 4 time for a doggy bag. Hopefully it was just our waiter having an off day. I'll probably give them another chance.
We had the most delicious food and drinks here for dinner! Starting out, our service was incredibly fast and our food came quickly with an extremely polite and happy server. The only reason for four stars is because towards the end when we asked for the check, our waitress kept disappearing and would finally come back to the floor to serve other customers without bringing the check. Everything was great, but the process of getting the check and our delicious dinner paid for was very slow.
My husband and I celebrated a special occasion last night at Charley's. With some trepidation, we ordered two of the seafood specials: the salmon and the ahi tuna. Sometimes these seafood dishes are overcooked. We were delighted with our dinners. Not only were both fish entrees moist and flavorful, but the vegetable sides with both were wonderful. Since I love vegetables, I was pleased that these were not overcooked, and most of all, the food was not heavily salted.
I have been on date night several times and it has been a great esting experience every time. Attentive server, inviting atmosphere, and best of all delicious food and wine. I look forward to my next dining experience
We came to get a relaxing late lunch. Our waitress had just gotten on shift. She wasnâ??t sure of what was the special ..?
My husband and I visited here for our 7th wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised. The wait staff were attentive and courteous and the food was attractively displayed and delicious! We plan to return on our next visit to the area.
Great Environment, Comfortable, Friendly - and the food (Italian Night!) was great. They had live music which was a bonus and a beautiful deck over looking the Appomattox River. Son just started school at Longwood - we will be back many times.
First time to Charley's waterfront cafe, there was a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We decided to sit on the deck and within minutes had to go inside there was no breeze along the water but our waitress didn't bat an eye to move us inside, which means she didn't have to go outside either I suspect. The food was top quality, fresh ingredients, and a home cooked quantity. The price compared to other establishments in the area I felt was very reasonable. Overall great experience and will recommend to friends and family if they're going in to be in or around the area.
Service was VERY SLOW.
Good food. Attentive server. Had the individual pizza which was excellent served on a ceramic tile straight out of the oven. Very noisy during peak meal times though.
We wait 15+ minutes at our table with no service. Not even to apologize or ask for drink orders. We had enough to review the menu selection, prices and eye what the food looked like from others' orders. We were not impressed and swiftly left the restaurant. Found a much better BBQ up the road that served us quality food in a quicker manner.
Excellent place to go and have a great meal. The food is always very good and service attentive. A good wine and beer choice too so all in all you are sure of a fine dining experience.
Very relaxed and semi formal, great atmosphere, good choice on the menu and the beer and wine list is also very good. Service is excellent and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
I enjoyed a delicious Reuben that could have used more thousand island dressing. Then again, our waitress supplied a side for me and that was better than the sandwich drowning in sauce. Delicious fries. My husband had the chicken panini which he enjoyed with a side of onion rings (which we both thought were some of the best we've had). Prices reasonable. Service was slow and a little inattentive but perhaps they were busy. We were just up for a visit. We will probably we back.
We've eaten here before and had great food. However, Saturday nights dish was not good. We arrived and were promptly seated. The waiter came up to the table immediately to get our order. We both ordered the seafood "special" of the night. Basically what we got was a bowl of bow tie pasta with Alfredo sauce, 4 shrimp, 2 scallops and red peppers & broccoli. It was mediocre at best, the seafood was advertised as "pan seared" but all it was was dry. The shocker was when I received the bill to find that this "special" was $23!! I almost fell out of the booth! Never again!
This is my new favorite place to eat!! Amazing food!! Everything was perfect!
We came here on a Saturday evening. Not crowded at all, as a matter of fact, it seemed like they didn't have much business at all. When we left, there were more tables taken, especially outside as sun had set and the temperature started going down from a hot day. \nWe had very good and friendly service. I had a salmon special that was enjoyable. The sides were good. When I saw the length of the beer list, I was pleasantly surprised until I read it. If you're into craft beer, there are slim pickings here. I settled for an ok IPA but would have expected a greater selection of Virginia craft. \nIf I came back when the weather was a little cooler, I'd enjoy sitting outside. \nGood place for a meal.
Was there on a stop during a recent motorcycle ride. Waitstaff/bartender was very friendly and her recommendation was spot on DELICIOUS! Will definitely stop in again if passing through the area again!
Not busy this visit but wait person was slow or preoccupied elsewhere. Maybe the kitchen was, I don't know.
Food tasty and fresh. Excellent service. Price is excellent, no gouging here! Accommodating to large groups. Truly a wide variety of food
Always a great place to drop into when doing the Green Front madness. Lots of great beers, live music on Friday night. Great service and lots of space outside on the patio. Their home made pickles are to die for.
Neat place, nice big restaurant, bar and patio. The toppings on my pizza were excellent, the crust was terrible. Not only burnt but soggy too ! My husband said his hotdog and french fries were good. I would try them again. They had a very nice selection of food, beer and wine.
Don't know how the food is, as my wife and I have entered the 70 minute mark for two Cobb salads. Amateurish at best.
A refurbished tobacco barn with plenty of seating for larger groups or just couples. Was in Farmville for a conference at Longwood. Had the fried calamari appetizer. Plenty for four and very tasty. Not too much bread and seasoned well; not tough. Then ate the Ahi Tuna meal which was a little peppery but still very good. Green beans tasted ok but don't believe fresh, ? frozen, or over blanched if was fresh. Potatoes were tasty. They had desserts which looked great but way too much after eating a great meal. Fantastic service and great atmosphere.
