Ate in the back cafe. Prices reasonable, good food, will go again. Buffalo chicken pie was good, not particularly spicy.

My son and I tried to eat here on a Wednesday afternoon. We went inside and there were no employees to be found. Also, music with vulgar language was being played. Don't think we'll attempt this place again.

The cherry pie made with sour cherries is the closest anybody has ever come to my mother own pie. Pair that with some vanilla ice cream and black coffee and you are in foodie heaven. The staff is attentive and friendly and great at making recommendations. Located just a couple blocks from the courthouse.

My husband and I and our 1 year old stopped in here for some quick takeout on our way to a hike. Just wanted some good sandwiches to eat on the go. The place always looks so charming especially with the rooftop restaurant (closed at that time) and this was our first time here. We waited inside while food was being made and actually purchased a few gift items from the front store area which were really cute and priced well. The front server was really nice and helpful even when it got a little busy. We were so excited it all smelled amazing and we were starving. That’s where it went south-for me. My sandwich was an absolute disgrace. I got the chicken patty sandwich, switched to on a sub roll, and the “patty” was deflated to barely a quarter inch thick as if it had been blasted in the microwave for too long. It was hard as a rock, and not real chicken by a long shot. Not even close, I guess i should have read the description closer but even for $7 you are able to get real chicken sandwiches elsewhere. The “greens” were browning and wilted down to just near sludge. I was so horrified but the hair I then found stuck to the second half of the sandwich was the nail in the coffin. We were already down the road to our destination so couldn’t turn around and get our money back. I was so so so sad and so disappointed. My husband got the cheesesteak and liked his well enough but seeing my sandwich in its state and with the hair just made him not really get to enjoy his. Definitely a miss with that experience, maybe it was a bad day after all the holiday rush but still no excuse for that to ever come through a kitchen-do not order the chicken patty if they continue to use microwaveable frozen “processed” meat circles. And hold the hair. Too bad.

This is a local adorable cafe. For me they don't have many food options. I don't eat meat because I have allergies. I have gone there with the hopes that I can find something on the menu and because I am so limited they have not been able to give me vegetarian options. It's rare but it did happen. Not sure if it's a regular thing but one time I had a vegetarian pie that was way better than I expected. Nothing overly exciting but tasty. They do have a pretty good menu for meat only people. The people that I've gone there with have enjoyed the atmosphere. We have picked up pies for holidays which everybody enjoyed. For the area it's excellent. If you have found my review helpful please give me a thumbs up ? and feel free to follow me for future reviews.Vegetarian options: If you want something exceptionally basic like a salad, you can get that. But they don't have any sandwiches that are vegetarian. It wouldn't be that difficult to add one. But not the case. It's an adorable environment that I would love to be at more often. If you have found my review helpful please give me a thumbs up ? and feel free to follow me for future reviews.Parking: This is a very quaint old town. This particular business is right on a main Street intersection. You really could park on any of the side streets and walk there.

The food was delicious. The manager was very enjoyable to talk to and joke around with.

My husband and I stopped in, and there were no patrons. The lady at the counter said we needed a reservation or we would need to wait at least 20 minutes. I've never heard of an eating establishment taking only reservations. We were very disappointed! We are from out of town and happened to find this cafe on Google and wanted to try something different while visiting VA.

Pies were good. Reasonably price and good customer service. There are lots of whole frozen pies to take home as well.

Very cute place. The food was really good. Especially the pie, savory and sweet. I got a savory pie and a sweet pie to take home. Instructions were easy to follow and the pies were great!!

Dined at rooftop a few times and decided to try out the pie Shoppe. Many menu items are popped right in their state of the art MICROWAVE. Watched her take our pie slice specifically, right to it resulting in a stale, rubbery and dry pie slice. I think for $7 a pop they could throw it in an oven? they were not busy by any means. She did the same microwave routine with many of our and others food items.Whatever recipe they use for Mac and cheese was made by someone who doesn’t know whats supposed to be in Mac and cheese. It consisted of only noodles and LOTS of greasy cheese (we’re talking tablespoons worth of grease pooling on the side of the bowl). However, besides their pies, it seemed to be the only thing on the menu they actually make in house(reheated in the microwave of course). No wonder the manager was giving items away for free to patrons. Definitely a much cheaper and tacky vibe than the rooftop presents.

Pie slices were clearly reheated in a microwave to be served along with most of their menu items as we could hear the hum of the microwave in an otherwise quiet cafe after we ordered a few different items. We saw the manager give out many free items to customers and were not offered the same. On our way out she could be heard belittling and complaining about her staff and customers from the surrounding area (paraphrasing very colorful language she used). We were planning to make a reservation on the Rooftop hoping for better service but if it's anything like the cafe we will steer clear!

Delightful little place off the beaten path. Rating food with 4 stars until I get the chance to try more of the menu.Pies are definitely homemade. Savory pie I tried was a little dry. I expected it to have a little gravy like meat pies I've made in the past. I've only tried one of the savory pies so I'll reserve my critique on them. Dessert pie was - absolutely delicious! I can't wait to try them all.Overall, I'd recommend it.I was told it was pricey but I thought it was well in line with similar restaurants. Not cheap but not overpriced.Enjoy ?

This is second time I have been there. The first time it was very good. Today my daughter and I thought we would take a little drive to enjoy the warm chicken salad and it was a terrible experience. So disappointing. Only two young girls working. Excuse they had a bigger party in the back. There was a 40 minute wait which we chose to do. There was a man waiting there for at least an hour who was staying at an AirBNB waiting on waffles to go and when they brought his order they told him they were out of fruit. When our order was taken they only had one bread bowl left as the big party had ate them all. They offered sliced bread which I chose and let my daughter have the bread bowl. They brought mine in a bowl and it was watery and definitely not very warm. This is not the recipe from the Tea Tavern. The young girl said she would bring both the balsamic drizzle and the honey drizzle but when they brought the food she said the big party ate all the balsamic drizzle. It just wasn’t good. You should request bigger parties to make ahead reservations because they definitely weren’t prepared for this. Some people left and didn’t wait. When I was there last summer they had two cooks and two waitresses. Very disappointed in this visit. Management needs to make some changes. I felt sorry for those young girls.

A true hidden gem. Do not let the name fool you. They do more than just pies. Cheesesteak was spot on. The mac and cheese is a must. The pies both savory and sweet are perfect. Save room for desert! #HeavyGapproved
