Thank you, Erica, for our last and most favorite meal on our 2 week girls road trip! Your kind hospitality and delicious food was the best way to end our adventure. We would come back to Fredericksburg just to have another meal there!

My husband and I went there for dinner. My third time and his first. We had dates wrapped in bacon for an appetizer and then we had paella for our entree.

Great dishes. Loved the cavolfiore, patatas bravas, and split the chocolate pot and pannacotta for dessert.

Had the meatball were not very flavorful-the sauce was hot but the actual meatball wasn’t even warm. The brussel sprouts were barely roasted.

Love coming here!! Every time the food has been great! The servers are very nice and patient with the elderly guests that were with us. Really cool view if the Chatham Manor across the Rappahannock River. Their charcuterie plate was double the normal portions you'd get elsewhere! They have some tasty wines as well!

Delicious treats! We got a mix of items to check out this tapas spot after friends recommended it.I'll let the photos speak for my review, but what you cannot see is how everything is tender and perfectly seasoned! We tried cavolfiore, datilles, croquettes, albondigas, queso de cabra, and finished with the sweet zeppole. If I could complain, it would be 'give me more' - but that is not the idea here. Enjoy many small tastes and textures!Highly recommend.Oh, and don't let any small servings throw you, it's actually very filling!

Great food, great drinks, and great atmosphere. Waiter took a lot of time to return to our table in between orders, but not bad enough to dock points. The music was jazzy and gave a classy feel. The view was great. I enjoyed my time here.

We went to Tapa Rio for restaurant week and it did not dissapoint! The burrata pizzaiolo with smoked honey and toasted hazelnuts was amazing. We ordered off of the restaurant week menu and decided on the shrimp. 6 shrimp was not enough because it was DELICIOUS. Go get your stamp!

I love this place, unique delicious food, great ambience and beautiful location, but after arriving at the restaurant at 6:20pm last Sunday after ascertaining that they were open until 7pm from web site, when we entered the hostess told us they were closed. Signage on door indicated they were open until 7pm and the door was unlocked, but there was also a closed sign. This has put me off, guess if I go again I’ll have to call to make sure they are really open.

My potatoes alioli were the worst I have ever had. The potatoes were cooked probably the day prior they tasted horrible, the alioli sauce missed the garlic that it should have, terrible!!!

Tapa Rio came highly recommended by many friends. My food was delicious and we had very attentive service. I loved seeing all of the local art on the walls. Looking forward to returning!

My dining partner loved everything, I did not. I recommend you give it a try for yourself. It’s certainly the only Spanish or tapas restaurant within a 1 hour drive in any direction. It’s a nice place and I can tell they know how to cook. But the dishes just didn’t work for me.The portion sizes are a bit larger than most other small plate restaurants, enough for at least 2 or 3 people to all taste each. Tapas is always a bit more expensive than a burger place, but the total check won’t be as high as you think for a fine restaurant. My companion said the pizza was the best she’s had in her 20+ years in Fredericksburg. It’s also one of the better bang for your buck on the menu, if you’re hungry.I liked the 4 choices of $5 sherry, port and Madeira - generous sizes. We had a lavender cocktail that was great and not overpriced. If you go when it’s nice and sunny out, the dining room has a beautiful view of the river. The patio does too, if the weather permits. The chef’s favorite sauce seems to be their smoky tomato sauce, which is tasty, but is repeated on a lot of dishes. Don’t worry, I couldn’t really taste the smoke.I didn’t like the chorizo sausage. I found it gamy in flavor and dry, lacking a sauce. The Brussels sprouts and the cauliflower were not terrible but I thought a little plain and dry. The smoked honey on the cauliflower was really interesting, and might have perked up the flavor, though I couldn’t have it due to my diet. The ribeye steak tasted good, though it looked cooked at medium heat rather than seared at high heat like the menu seemed to suggest. Our cut happens to be “marbled” with more gristle than fat.
