Stopped in with my wife on an early Saturday evening for a couple of drinks and dinner.Pros: The food was excellent. We ordered a burger, a club and fried pickles. All 3 were great and we would definitely go back for the food. The bar back and the cook were incredibly friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was very chill and friendly. The drinks were strong but refills were slow. (Dive and Stormy and Orange crush)Cons: The bartender was atrocious. I think the regular bartender was working with a large birthday party and they were using a fill in bartender. The bartender serving us didn't know what the frozen drink of the day was. Rather than find out, she said " it's almost empty anyway". The bartender didn't know the kitchen was out of sourdough bread until after our order was placed. She let food sit in the window and get cold while she griped about the other employees. The bartender also gave away our fried pickle appetizer to a couple that ordered after us. The worse part was that when we told her that we hadn't received our appetizer, she didn't apologize. She blamed the kitchen ( even though the cook told her the pickles were ours), and then went into the office to pout for 8 minutes.Overall will be going back, but if the same young lady is bartender, we will turn around and leave.

Went there this past weekend....Food and drinks are good, but not going back because of a power tripping security guard/bouncer who targeted woman and used his size to bully her. The owner let it happen, and knew she did nothing wrong. Don't need to go to a place where you have to worry about the bouncer picking on you for doing nothing wrong!

They have a power tripping bouncerThe bars bouncer power trips over the littlest things. Obviously makes the rules up as he goes. I witnessed him, seeing others enjoying a game, single out a woman for taking a shirt off, had another top under. He said put it back on, I saw the looks on everyone face, of WTF, the woman, I could see she felt singled out and penalize for something in front of everybody. Another group of patrons was playing a game as well and a girl had a sports bra on when unzipping the jacket and she was not penalized by the bouncer. I can only imagine how the other woman felt, she was irritated, she asked the power tripping bouncer the questions of the code and policy. The power tripping bouncer wouldn't look at her while she was talking, treated her with no respect. I witnessed a gentleman just grab her and left. I overheard the discussion of the treatment that she encountered from the power tripping bouncer. I hope the owner does something or get a new bouncer.

Some of the best food comes out of the local dive bar. we stumbled on this hidden gem when traffic was so backed up we barely moved. Wanting to watch the Phillies NLDS game 3, I searched Sports Bar and we found ourselves at Phoebus Dive Bar. We were warmly greeted and engaged the whole time. We got the home made corn dogs, the French Dip with outrageously good Au Jus, my wife got Flounder sandwich and loved it, the homemade chips, served with Queso cheese was amazing. All in all this is a great place, warm people and great food.

If you're looking for the perfect dive bar, this is it. Amazing Drinks, impeccable service, and an overall fantastic atmosphere. This secret hideaway is located in the heart of Historic Phoebus. With it being about a mile from Hampton University, you'll run into Professionals, College Students, Military personnel, hippies, and libation enthusiasts. My go to for food are the wings, the dive burger, and the Fried Flounder Fish Sandwich. Talk about your alliteration, this Sandwich will make you smack all your old bosses, even the good ones! ? The staff are very polite and down to earth. Nice selection of beer in bottles and on tap. And my favorite drink is a modified Tequila Sunrise, with pineapple juice instead of orange juice and a double shot of grenadine! That's my signature Tequila Sunset! Also Tuesday nights are Karaoke night, so no matter how bad you sound and how drunk you are, get up there and sing your heart out Bruce Springsteen Jr! ?? Anyways, check out Phoebus Dive Bar, and when you get there, tell'em Zomeone' The Spectrum Traveler sent you! Peace, Love, Abundance, and Prosperity to everyone, and make good choices ? ? ???????✌?

Food is great. The customer service, NOT!!! Me and my fiance of 2 years has been here multiple times and spent a decent amount of money in this establishment. Went in the other day just to be banned simply because the cook did not want me there! I ended a toxic relationship with the cook they just recently rehired 3 years ago. He still hates my guts (more than likely due to being unable to reach them) the owner told me he had to ban me because his cook threatened to quit if not. I have NEVER caused any problems inside of this establishment. Always paid my tab, and tipped well. I honestly feel discriminated. How can you take my money for almost 2 years but now ban me just because your cook who I haven't had any contact with in over 3 years was on a power trip! Very bad business. The paying customers are not their priority.

I wish I could leave no stars... when you walk in the front door it smells liked a backed up sewer. I told the owner he needed to clean the bar because it stinks so bad in there. I hope he can get this bar up and going, because it's a great location and when it was called "old Town tavern" it was amazing!!! Please get it together!! I'm cheering for you!!

I went last night with a couple friends. Service was excellent but the food left a lot to be desired. I paid $5-6 for a basket of fries which are just store bought shoe string frozen fries. I guess they dont make their own fries anymore like the pics on Facebook. we ordered the homemade onion dip and chips for a appetizer. The dip was great but the chips werent salted or anything. One person ordered the spam sandwich with homemade chips. HWe also got a chicken salad sandwich and macaroni salad. The sandwich wasnt bad but the mac salad was bland and looked to be mostly mayo and noodles (I know I know) but by this point we were a few drinks in. We went because of the posts on fb with house made fries and stuff along those lines. Atmosphere was nice and the place looks nice. I would go again and try it one more time
