Swirlies Soft Serve Haymarket

$16.50 for two waffle cones with %18 tip is not a good value, especially when the amount of ice-cream in the cone was measly. Luckily there are some softserve alternatives not far. (The amount of ice-cream in the cone made me question why I tipped at all)

We always enjoyed going to swirlies because the outdoor seating is nice and their ice cream truly isn’t bad, but it is easily comparable to a McDonalds soft serve. However, a kiddie cone use to be $1.85 and as of yelp it still is. When we went today my kids were excited for a little treat after the park but my mind was blown to hear they no longer do kid cones and charges over $4 for a small soft serve over $5 if you want sprinkles… for my 3 kids I spent over $16 on ice cream that use to cost no more than $10…. The amount given has also decreased and honestly had no swirl to it. I was less than impressed to say the least. With the skyrocketed price we will not be back, lesson learned and next time we will just be making the drive to Nathan’s to get better prices, better quantity, and better quality.

What a wonderful place to have tons of ice cream creations... Some classics that are well done. Staff is super friendly... The little ones had a great time there

Nice place. Vibes are amazing. Price is on the higher end. Just need the chocolate soft serve to be a bit sweeter, maybe i am biased on that. But i believe it was really bitter. Also the large soft serve is not really large if you get hot fudge on it since then flip it in a cup.

It absolutely kills me to leave a poor review here because it’s my favorite little place in Haymarket to bring my family for ice cream, and we came here asap in 2025. However, they have SUBSTANTIALLY raised their prices, and by at least 12% on most things. As a small business owner myself I get it I do, and I wish them the best but I feel like the sizes have also been decreased as well… and when you pick up the order you can see a chart on the icecream machine that specifies how many swirls to give you…So much for a “mom and pop” ice cream shop… Sad sad day indeed (see menu pics from last year to this year for evidence) and also as another has stated, high high pressure for a tip… :(

My mostly ordered is Large Hawaiian shaved ice with blue raspberry and cotton candy. It is usually very fast, and it is very good. I recommend Swirlie’s to everyone!

I’ve always had a good experience when I came here! Today my son accidentally dropped his snow cone and the whole round top came off and I asked if I had to purchase a new one and they remade his snow cone for free. Definitely appreciated their customer service 🙂

I love the ice cream! they give you big portions, please try it out for reals !

Very inconsistent and often terrible/rude service.. very hit or miss. Today we tried to get chocolate and strawberry, strawberry on the bottom and chocolate on top. The older lady rudely informed me they don’t do that, in a very short and condescending tone. We have been coming here for years and gotten this in the past. They had some weird explanation about amounts dispensed. I said maybe it was a different size I had gotten in the past, to no avail. Eventually I tried to ask when they stopped. She had terrible customer service and refused to engage in any sort of discussion, instead she just rudely shut the conversation down by rudely and shortly, in an angry tone telling me they don’t do that. As if they had never done that. We have gotten it this way over 20 times. Why she was getting angry at me for asking a simple question is beyond me. I was very confused and blindsided by her hostility. You don’t expect this sort of behavior when you are trying to enjoy quality time and take your daughter to get ice cream! Very disappointing.

Additionally, be careful regarding the prices. Depending who is there they will over charge or ring things up incorrectly resulting in very increased cost. This was the case with the strawberry malt I get from there. The owner corrected eventually observed this and corrected the individual, significantly reducing the price asked. However I had purchased it about 10 times prior at the higher price. I had previously inquired and the individual claimed both malt and strawberry were considered toppings. Although I tried to point out that the title was “Shakes & Malts” and I was getting a strawberry malt. The individual had claimed they were going to change the sign.. I don’t believe that individual works there anymore though, as it’s been a couple years since I last saw the person. But still be careful, their staff are hit and miss.

Our favorite ice cream stop. We love the weekly special flavors. Staff are extremely friendly and sitting out on the patio is an excellent place to enjoy our treats.
