I visited the Omni for a special golf weekend with my father. When I booked the room, I booked two king beds. Inexplicably, when I called before arriving to confirm my room I was told the hotel changed my reservation to two double beds and that king beds would be a significant charge. When I reached out to management the response I was given was that they had given me extra square footage in a bigger room, but they reserved the right to change my booking at any time. I explained that two double beds was extremely uncomfortable for us and I didn’t request or want a slightly larger room. after much back and forth, I was finally offered a “one night voucher” If i returned to the hotel. I explained that my father and I live nowhere near the hotel, do not plan on returning, and declined. I have never experienced this type of customer service at another hotel.

Arrived for a conference on a Wednesday. While this has nothing to do with the staff (who all were super hard working and I know were trying their hardest to work through difficulties), the hotel itself was not in order to have a full-house. My room was right below major construction that caused piping issues that made the water brown. The staff just advised to continue running the water to flush the pipes. Look at the picture attached, would you dare brush your teeth or want to wash in that? On day two, the pipes leaked and there was no water after only cold water. The reservation system was down, so I could not move or change rooms in the morning and this also delayed check-in for arriving guests (who didn’t get luggage to their room u til almost 10pm and no room ready until after 9). My room had two sinks that both had issues (see the attached picture). Someone was sent to correct them and could not fix them the first evening, but did come with the tools on the second and repaired them. I was lucky and got a room change after multiple attempts. Some of my friends were not able to move. I had a wonderful experience at the spa, but please be prepared that the spa staff stress that the 22% service fee is not gratuity and that you should still tip your service provider if you are happy with the service. I was not prepared for this.

It's a nice feel for nostalgia but, overpriced for the "supposed experience" they are claiming. Concerns began upon arrival. Bellhops were unloading cars to carts and placing them with personal belongings on the porch to sit unattended until rooms were ready. This was lengthy as housekeeping was behind on completing rooms. I was not comfortable with this as; guests weaved in/out and around belongings. My fears were realized as a guest reported not all of her belongings were delivered to her room. Her laptop was missing and a bag was open that was not open when she left it. The room was small but expected. I was not prepared for the comforter being stained, armchair having multiple fresh stains (some crusty), desk chair being stained with what looked like chocolate (transferable to clothing), the refrigerator being quite dirty inside, hair and liquid stains on the bathroom floor, and blood on the bathroom wall. On Friday (11/10) we awoke to no hot water and were without it all day. That meant no showers. Oddly, the room phone did not work at all. So, all communications with hotel staff were completed by trips to the front desk and text messages. The in-room heating/cooling system was extremely loud. I know the building is old but when you sell the same product daily, there is an expectation that an overhaul of necessities will be completed, as needed. The elevators are old, slow, and faulty. Those can be preserved while also reconstructing the functional components to modern standards. So, the "renovation" seems grossly incomplete. Although somewhat separate, I must mention the continental breakfast served every morning during the conference I was attending there. It consisted of coffee (only basic sweeteners), apple juice, orange juice, bowls of peeled hard boiled eggs, cut fruit pieces, some pastries, mini croissants, and doughnuts. I am aware that there might be different options that organizations purchase for continental breakfasts but I did not expect such a poor display from "The Homestead." I had a much better and tastier continental breakfast from a Sleep Inn & Suites a week prior. I was surprised that The Homestead would not take pride in presenting a continental breakfast option that was consistent with its reputation for excellence. The tea time event was classy and fun to experience. I received text messages asking about the state of my room. I replied each time. The only concession offered was to have housekeeping come to my room after 10:00 p.m. to clean. The point seemed to be missed in that the room should have already been cleaned to satisfaction. There was also no concession offered for the significant inconvenience of having no hot water for an entire day. This was my first visit. It was extremely disappointing as; I heard for years that The Homestead was stellar. That was not my experience.

When I arrived, I didn't understand that the slip of paper they gave me for my luggage needed to be turned in at registration, which would then trigger their process for delivering my luggage to my room. I waited nearly an hour for my luggage, and then went down to get it myself, in a bit of a fury because I had to be at a dinner in 15 minutes. A very kind bellman named Ethan helped me retrieve it and brought it up for me. I was pretty snarky about the whole thing, but he was unfailingly polite and kind. I later apologized, and noticed all weekend how he was so positive and upbeat with all the guests. Not an easy job he has, but he handled it with ease. He's a credit to the Homestead.

We stayed at the Omni Homestead in October. The area and hotel were beautiful. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. We walked around the hotel and the grounds are stunning. There are lots of options for activities as well as pools both inside and outside. We went on the Cascades Gorge Hike and it was great. Our guide Cooper was incredibly knowledgeable and she made learning fun. The opportunities for great photos on this hike are endless. We also went to the hot springs which was very relaxing. They have a variety of places to eat and we appreciated the coffee shop as we didn’t have time for a lengthy sit down option at times because there was so much to do. Note that if you have a food allergy like I do, it was a bit difficult to find items in some of the restaurants. Note, make sure to try the creme brûlée at the Jefferson Tap Room. They have the fires going outside and sitting outside with a drink is just lovely. Also, they have a piano player inside in the afternoon along with tea service in the lobby which was perfect when it was a bit chilly outside. The staff is the highlight of this location. Everyone we spoke with was very helpful.

The Omni Homestead has a lot of history and a lot to offer, but some of the accommodations are a little tired. The most important note: when their website says DO NOT USE GPS, I highly recommend heeding that advice. Particularly if coming from the south/Roanoke direction. Numerous people in my party reported using GPS and it taking them on "goat trails". Though manageable during the day, they said they would have turned around if it had been after dark.I was there for 2 nights and the first morning did not have any hot water in the room. Allowed the water to run for at least 30 min. and it did not even get tepid. The second morning, I got up early for a shower at 5am and had hot water. Other members of my group reported normal shower times and again had no hot water. The historical location is phenomenal, with a gorgeous setting and beautiful views. The historic photos and artworks displayed are very nice. The food in the Jefferson Tap Room is very good, especially the Mexican Chocolate Cake, a multi-layer chocolate cake teased with cinnamon with mousse filling and garnished with crushed sopapilla. The Texas Steakhouse Onion Rings were also delicious with a topping of melted cheese and bbq sauce. Some rooms are better than others, I was there for business so not surprised that my window view was of the top of the building, but the horizon was lovely.

It’s difficult to get to, but well worth it! This resort has so much history and is so scenic and gorgeous. We did falconry (Linda did an incredible job!), visited the warm springs, played lots of golf and spent two days at the spa. It was truly fabulous and well worth it! Definitely go!

The Omni Homestead is truly a one of a kind destination. Our family loves visiting throughout the year, and the resort and surrounding communities have a wealth of culture and activities to offer no matter the season. Today we went on a guided tour of the Cascades Gorge, and our guide, Cooper, was extremely well-informed about native flora and fauna. She was an absolute pleasure. Quinn at Virginia Wine Experience always has excellent recommendations on regional wines. The Warm Springs Pools are a must-see. The just completed restoration of all the Homestead properties is poised to usher in another century of refined travel in the Highlands.

A common problem for most resorts post covid is staffing.. That said, even with the obvious challenges this remotely located resort is experiencing the level of service that was given by the staff was top-notch! The hotel recently got a facelift with all the rooms being remodeled. The golf courses were absolutely spectacular as we played both courses in two days and we couldn't have been more pleased with their condition and the level of service given by the courses employees. True Southern hospitality all the way.. Sadly we had to return back home to San Diego after a 3 night whirlwind adventure but we will be back!

My wife and I were staying for our anniversary. Unfortunately we couldn’t even last 5hrs in this scam of a luxury hotel. We booked this hotel for luxury spa experience. We quickly realized this place was not what we expected as half of the spa amenities were broken matching most of the items in the hotel. Nothing was mentioned of this during check in. Prior to our arrival we were contacted by a concierge who would make all of our appointments for activities. None of our appointments were made. We immediately pack our belongings when went back to our room after we could hear an entire family next door through the paper thin walls. I know so many hardworking individuals who love to experience a luxury hotel, but please believe me when I say this place is a scam. I will never be returning and can’t wait to see the replies from management offering an apology with no compensation. You can keep it.

The Homestead has put a lot of money and effort into renovations and it shows. The lobby, restaurants, and public areas are gorgeous. From our arrival, the staff could not have been more gracious and helpful. The dining room and Jefferson’s servers create a wonderful, friendly dining experience, accommodating kids’ and adult requests. We took advantage of a warm fall weekend to swim, hike, and golf. Kids loved the warm outside pool and hot tub. I would highly recommend the gorge hike; our guide was outstanding. And the staff at the Old Course are wonderful - they go out of their way to treat you like old friends returning for a visit. If you haven’t visited The Homestead in a while, come on back and enjoy.

I stayed at the Omni Homestead recently for business. I understand that the hotel recently underwent a significant renovation and it showed. The facilities are quite lovely. The service was hit and miss. The Valet parked my car without issue and the bellman promptly delivered my bags to my room.My room did not have an ironing board, which I needed to press a shirt before an evening reception. I called and asked for one to be brought to the room and waited an hour before switching outfits with what I had planned for the next day. Before the reception, I asked again for an ironing board, but still didn’t have one when I returned 6 hours later. I had to wear a polo shirt to my business meeting the next day.My bags were retrieved from my room in the morning without issue and were waiting with my vehicle when meeting was finished. The Omni Homestead is a lovely facility with top notch service in the front of the house. Housekeeping and the back of the house leave much to be desired.
